Fantastic hostel but don't stay here in Summer! Also a little strict. ”
This has probably been the best hostel I've stayed ar so far this time in Japan. The staff are really friendly, accomodating and make you feel at home. And I truly mean that. I've stayed at dozens of Hostels in Japan. However I have two complaints. My major complaint is that the AC in the room is just not strong enough to deal with the summer heat in a fully booked dormitory room. They do provide you with a small fan for your besd but this isn't enough for me. Second, the rules for this hostel seem a bit strict. I can be a bit of a night owl sometimes and I would like to be able to stay in the common room using my phone late at night while not making any noise. That isn't allowed here...

Friendly staff, decent hostel”
Completely missed this as I drove down the small road to this place, as name states, probably not a place to drive to. This said there are car parks (walkable distance). Not quite sure why it's classed as a 1* hotel, it's a hostel as the name states, but I'll agree as there are safety lockers and the normal shared bathrooms, clean etc Quite homely feel, staff is very nice, offers cup of tea and cake, but as she's introducing everything, you don't really get a chance to drink or eat, which made me chuckle :) Not much to say, it's what you'd expect from a hostel. Location wise, it's close to the attractions, seemed a bit far from the station, although I was driving, so maybe the walking route is quicker.

Good location, wonderful staff”
We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff we so friendly and helpful, never tiring of our requests for suggestions on where to eat, what to do, etc. and making sure we had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. If I were passing through again, I’d stay there again.

Best hostel experience ”
Environment - Traditional Old Japanese house, if you want local experience, this is your best choice. All things are tidy, clean and well managed. Location - Between Nagano Station (10min bus ride) and the famous Zenkoji Temple, just right next to the main shopping street. People - All staff are so nice, they recommend places for your visit, travellers are friendly, a lot of interactions and chats among people from different countries. Great values and experiences, will definitely be back!!

Een leuk en gezellig backpackershotel op kleine afstand van het station en de Zenko-ji. De dienstdoende staf was superaardig en had meer informatie te bieden dan de Tourist Information op het station.

服務人員非常親切，一進去就先給你一杯熱茶，然後跟你介紹附近有哪裡好玩，也會詢問你隔天的行程並向你推薦可以去哪裡，出門或回來都會熱情地跟你打招呼，感覺非常溫暖，晚上可以在大廳和服務人員及其他房客聊天，是一個非常溫馨的空間，位置距離善光寺很近很好找，從車站徒步大約20分鐘不會很遠，住在這裡可以留下很棒的回憶，如果下次再來長野市會再入住。

Friendly hosts, comfortable stay”
We drove, so the location did not affect us too much. Nevertheless, it was walking distance to the main street with food and shopping options. We drove nearby to cafes recommended by the host, who was extremely friendly.
