Clean room, fast checkin checkout, nice staff, great location, poor wifi”
We stayed at APA Hotel Kyoto-Eki-Horikawadori for 2 nights. The room was tiny but clean and comes with all amenities we need. The wifi, however, was surprisingly poor! We think because the hotel have many rooms and many people were using the wifi at night so it was almost impossible to use the wifi from our room (no big deal since we got our unlimited 4g sim card but would be nice if the wifi actually work too). The location of the hotel is at walkable distance to Kyoto train station and the road was ok enough for dragging big luggages. Right next to the hotel there was familymart which was very convenience for us to get food and drinks.

Outstanding Hotel for $55/night”
Loved the location. Very clean hotel. A very quick 5min walk to the station yet away from the hustle & bustle of Kyoto Station. The 7/11 shop just beside the hotel was super convenient to grab dinner (which the 7/11 staff will heat it for you if you ask, else there is a microwave near the front desk) after long touristy days in Kyoto/Osaka/Nara. My wife and I stayed for 3 nights and used our JR Pass to go to Osaka, Nara, & Hiroshima. The price $55/night is very fair and we highly recommend this hotel. APA has another hotel just near the station but this one is nicer bacause of the 7/11 store. We used the 7/11 shop for Obento, Onigiri, Water and Juice everyday of our stay. When we went to Osaka & Hiroshima we also saw APA Hotels. If you have a JR Pass you must use it to visit Hiroshima a peace memorial park & A-bomb dome. HIROSHIMA visit was much nicer than Osaka. We also visited the Osaka a castle, Nara Deer Park, Kyoto Bamboo Forest & Fushimi-Imari-Taisha Shrine.

short but sweet stay!”
My boyfriend and I really loved this hotel! We were pleasantly surprised to walk into a beautiful lobby with all the fixings. For the price we paid, we thought we were just getting the bare minimum, but APA hotel really exceeded expectations. Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff was so kind and helpful. The bathroom is a little old, but still very well-kept. The best part of the hotel is the location. It is right next to the AWESOME kyoto train station, Aeon mall, and plenty of bars and restaurants. I only stayed here three nights, but I wish I could have stayed longer! I had a great time and experience at APA!

Great value in Kyoto”
APA hotels are well known for their higher-end business hotels. It did not disappoint us. Rooms sizes are typical for Japanese hotels, i.e. please do not expect the luxurious 100sq feet rooms. However, our rooms cleanliness and the amenities provided were top notched. The location is further away from the busyness of Kyoto station, which can be a challange dragging your large bags over to and from the hotel. Note: if you are in need for a ramen fix, there are a few around the hotel. There is even a famous local halal ramen (Ayam-ya) joint accross the road from the hotel.

Nice service and clean room”
Good location as it is just about 8 minutes from kyoto station. Though you will be distracted from another APA hotel which is closer to the station. Actually you need to take a right turn after the seeing the first APA. Room is small but is expected as this is a very classic economic hotel in japan. Housekeeping service is very good even though it is a small room. I bet it is very hard for them to work in but they pay attention to the details. I especially love the hot springs in the roof top which i went there evernight after whole day sightseeing.

Good for short stay - rooms are small”
The hotel staff are very nice and helpful. Agoda cancelled my booking three days before and I was forced to book a smoking room even though I originally booked non-smoking. Luckily the hotel changed my room to a non-smoking free of charge as soon as a non smoking was available. The hotel is very close to the Kyoto station, just be aware that there are many APA hotels near the station, make sure to find the right one. There is a bike renting place right next to the hotel, all in all a very convenient place to stay. Breakfast has some things to eat for westerners, but a lot of it is japanese also. I talked to many colleagues staying at other hotels, and it sounds like APA has one of the more international breakfasts in Kyoto.. but I can't say for sure. Top character for the hotel, but I do not like Agoda and I will never use them again. Try to book directly with the hotel.

Good value”
This hotel should not be confused with the "other" APA hotel of a similar name just around the corner, closer to Kyoto station. This particular hotel is slightly further away from the station, but less than a 3 minute walk from the other. The accommodations were as expected, clean and simple. No frills. Breakfast buffet is good, with both Japanese and western foods available. Staff was efficient. WI-fi unfortunately was intermittent, probably reflecting inadequate bandwith at high demand periods, but I noted dropout in the middle of the night as well. Using the LAN might be a better approach. I would stay here again.

Good location and near ammenities”
The location is just behind another APA hotel and walking distance to Kyoto main station. The 7-11 store just next to hotel and easy access to get some snack after midnight. The washing machine and dryer can accommodate and limited unit when alot of people want to wash cloth. should put 3-4 more unit at centre area. The aircon during winter is killing me. Need to open the window only can feel abit cold. The air coming out from the aircon its hot and warm air not dry air.

Small rooms doesn't mean it's not value for money”
We originally went to the wrong APA Hotel: Kyoto Ekimae, a block away from Horikawadori. We really didn't mind the small 18sq. meter room, given the attractive price per night. The hotel is close to Bic Camera and Kyoto Yodobashi, so that's a big plus for a photo enthusiast like me. What really appealed to me was the proximity to Kyoto Station; a good starting point to 1-2 days of temple, pavilion and shrine hoping in Kyoto.

Great Hotel 5 mins walk from Kyoto Station”
I stayed at APA Hotel for 2 nights in a single room. Room was smaller that I expected, but still very comfortable and quiet. The buffet breakfast was great having a lot of choice. Location is 5 min walk from Kyoto station and there is a FamilyMart right next door. Super fast check in and check out. Recommended hotel.

Our second time to stay and we'll go back asap.”
We love this hotel! Few Americans and very Japanese. Yokatas (robes) and slippers provided. The top floor open air hot tub and spa is really fun and probably our number two reason for staying here whenever we visit Kyoto. Rooms are cozy (pretty small) but have everything you need (not in the room much anyway). The price is great (low) which is our number one reason for staying here. An easy 5" walk from Kyoto station and the bus to/from Osaka Itami airport. Glad we found this hotel!! Also not far from great run trails along the nearby river/channel.

1 day trip in Kyoto”
The place not too far from kyoto train station (no issue if you walk). There is other APA Hotel which nearer to the station but as no statement that we can bring our young children with no additional fee so I choose this hotel ☺ as this hotel state it clearly. No restaurant beside the hotel so we usually eat our dinner on station before we walk back to hotel (as other review mention it). We only stay for 1 night. Check-in and check out fast, as we come at night and check-out also at night.

There is sauna and spa in this hotel”
I always stay at APA hotel when I visit Japan, but APA hotel do not have sauna and Spa.There is sauna and spa like a Japanese onsen in this hotel, so I felt relax after I had walked a lot in Kyoto. Even the location is quite far but it does not matter.

Thank you for staying at this hotel. I am very glad to receive the words of praise. The hotel is conveniently located about a 7-minute walk from Kyoto Station, and is very popular for its easy access. In addition, the restaurant of the hotel is well-received for the breakfast and the homemade tofu. Regarding services, we will make every effort to satisfy our customers.
Pleasant and Clean Stay”
APA Hotel in Kyoto was a really nice place to stay. Close to the main train station and to all sites. There is a sight seeing bus from the main train station (2 minutes walk from the hotel) that will take you to most of the sights of Kyoto. The public baths were great and laundry services were handy (small fee to be paid - 300 yen). The staff were very helpful and always had someone who spoke English. Thanks APA for a great stay!

Close to Kyoto Station, easy access to many places”
About 7 mins walk from Kyoto Station west exit, quite a bit walk but I like the hotel with hot tub (hot spring). Tho there is another APA more closer to the station, i chose this one because I was visiting in Winter and the hot tub is really good after a full day schedule. A 7-11 right next to the hotel, no worries for snacks, drinks and food!

Small bed, convenient location”
Very good location, but be careful not to mix up with the other APA Hotel which is closer to the Kyoto station. Prompt respond when we ask for a blanket. The room and the semi double bed is rather small for two people.

Great hotel but needs to walk 10 mins from JR Station”
There are two APA Hotel within walking distance. The 1st one is about 5 mins away and this one is 10 mins by walking from JR Station. The nearest exit (from underground) to the hotel is through Kyoto Subway exit. The staff is good and speak English well, The hotel room is small but clean and the basic facilities are provided. Yes, I will stay at this hotel again if I come to Kyoto next time (or may consider another APA hotel that nearer to JR Station).

Not sure if we stayed at the right hotel”
We were kind of disoriented after getting off the train at Kyoto Station. Wandered in when we saw the APA Hotel Kyoto sign at the front door even though the building looks different than the pictures on their Agoda page. But the front desk was able to check us in using our reservation information...so good? Later on, when we got our bearings and wandered around the Kyoto Station area, we saw another APA Hotel Kyoto about two blocks closer to the train station. That building was the same as the one in the Agoda page. Weird. We wondered if that hotel would've also checked us in had we showed up there lost and confused? In any event, the room was tiny, which was to be expected in Japan. But it's also a bit musty-smelling and generally kind of dingy. Like, I felt a bit gross just having to touch the walls or to step on their carpet. As with our hotel in Tokyo, the bed was so hard. It was like sleeping on a plank of sheet-covered wood. Pillows were tiny and no extra pillows were provided. So it was just very uncomfortable to sleep in. Overall, the room was the size of an old cruise ship cabin. Still, it's the lack of feeling of cleanliness and general discomfort of the bed that made the room an issue for me. The shampoo/conditioner and body wash came in Shiseido bottles, but I highly doubt they were filled with Shiseido products as the shampoo/conditioner left my hair dry and brittle. The staff was very polite and friendly, though, which is just about the only good thing I can say about this hotel.

Great location and facilities ”
This hotel location is within 5 - 10 mins walking distance to Kyoto Station and city bus terminal. It is very convenience for traveling to all place of interest by either subway or city bus. Shopping and eating street are just around the Kyoto station. Guest can enjoy free hot spring (osen) at 11th floor. Although the room is small but it is worthwhile to stay here. We will stay here again if visit Kyoto again.
