Stayed here for 1N but I super appreciate the location, which was near Yasaka Castle. Their amenities and service was superb. I super love their bathroom as well. One thing I don’t get though is their aircon/heater, but overall such an excellent stay! I highly recommend when staying in Kyoto.

Good value and location ”
Bus line is a few feet away. Train station 2 blocks. Gion and it’s shopping is 4 blocks and an easy walk. They need better beds as they were way too soft. Also, the rooms are tiny and more than 1 person would be a tight fit. I’d stay here again traveling solo.

We (my friends and I) chose this hotel because it is close to Maruyama Park (which is one of the go-to's during Sakura season) and is not far from a station. The street is heavy with people during this season though so the walk from the station to the hotel may take a while, especially if you're carrying your own luggage. The staff speak fair amount of English (which is a relief for us), rooms are a little old-fashioned but kept neat and clean (more important). I actually want to praise this hotel for helping me with a little incident I had where I accidentally left my phone at the hotel and only realized it on my way to Tokyo. I contacted the hotel via email immediately and they were quick to respond. They sent my phone back to me via package mail (which I didn't mind paying an extra fee for) and it arrived at my hotel in Tokyo (also an APA hotel) within 2 days. I am so grateful to them, even though I know it's hard for them to communicate in English so a huge "thank you" to them. So far, I have preferred staying at APA hotels and this proves it because of the sense of security and comfort I get every time.

Great location in the heart of Gion”
This hotel could not get anymore central to all that is happening in Gion. Overlooking the entertainment district, close to the main temples and a very short walk from shops and restaurants. The only downside to my stay was the lack of coffee bags within the room (they no longer provide) and the breakfast which given the current COVID climate is not worth the risk. Apart from this, the APA hotels are always in very good locations and are spotlessly clean.

What I noticed with the APA Budget business hotels. There's not much noise insulation in them. Can always hear people come in and out of their rooms throughout the night and mornings. And can even hear their full conversations in their rooms across the hall.

Close to attractions but dated & smelt of smoke ”
The corridors & elevators always smelt of cigarettes. The rooms were dated with marks on the walls. The pillows were the flattest things I’d ever seen but housekeeping gave us extra the next day when we asked & the beds were really soft. Overall the staff were nice but I wouldn’t stay at an APA again.

THE place to stay in Kyoto”
APA Kyoto-Gion is WONDERFUL. The staff are super friendly. The rooms are amazingly clean and the perfect size for single travelers. The location is to die for. Food and shops line the main road just outside the door, Gion is just around the corner on the left, and Yasaka shrine is right across the street on the left. When you arrive for check in the staff is very polite and quick to get everything sorted. I was given a rewards card (absolutely FREE) to use for future stays with any of the APA hotels in Japan and a coupon for a free one-hour extension to be used at any APA hotel in the next year or so. I will DEFINITELY make this my go to place for future Japan travel!

Great Location”
My wife and I traveled to Kyoto from Osaka. We took the Hankyu Line over JR because the terminal stop at Kawaramachi was just a 10-minute walk to the hotel in Gion, near the Yasaka Shrine. This was the perfect location for us as we explored the eastern side of Kyoto from the Ginkakuji to Kiyomizu and further south to Byodo-in and Fushimi Inari. The hotel room was small but comfortable and well designed. If you're traveling with large suitcases, it might be too tight. Check-in/out was quick and easy, having pre-paid thru Agoda. The front desk is on the second floor, and we bypassed it most of the time during our four-night stay. So we didn't interact much with staff, but had no needs or complaints. Many top sites are within walking distance, and several nearby buses take you everywhere else. This is a colorful part of Kyoto, where dozens of visitors rent yukata (summer kimono) to stroll the streets, and you can still catch a rare Geisha or Maiko going to or fro.

Excellent location in the heart of Gion”
kyoto gion hotel is located in shijo-dori very close to the shrine. which is a prime location to walk to many temples and to spot geisha. if you walk shijo-dori towards the downtown area you get to two streets on the right hand side immediately after the river which are excellent for restaurants, izakaya and pubs. its also packed with girls bars if thats your thing. the reception is open 24/7 and there is internet in the rooms. the rooms are a tad small, but its manageable. the aircondition was working well and kept the room at a nice temperature.

Amazing bed in great room with fantistic location ”
Had a great stay. The concierge helped us with finding a geisha show and tea ceremony. It was probably THE most comfortable bed I have ever stayed in and very roomy for an Asian hotel room. The location is perfect, very close to bus and metro line as well as one of the big attractions of Kyoto, a temple garden thing that was really cool and the price was the best bang for my buck I had during my entire Japan vacation. Highly recommend, especially if you are looking to stay in the Gion district which was really beautiful.
