A suprise”
A mixed review for the Aquamarina hotel. I was unsure what to expect from reading the very varied previous reviews. I would say overall it was better than expected. As mentioned above the location is quite far from the centre but is right beside a river side promenade which has a good selection of food and entertainment. The hotel does advertise parking but it is very limited on a side street, if you are trying to get back in anytime after dinner time then it is not an easy task, takes lots of patience and a few rounds of the block. We had dinner in the in-house restaurant one night, this was a mistake. The room was hot, dark and un-atmospheric. Despite being one of the only two tables occupied the waiter had to take our order several times as he kept forgetting. We ordered orange juice which came warm (if not almost hot) which was not a pleasant experience on a hot humid day! The food was average, if not slightly below. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for budget accommodation in Budapest, however, don't go in with four star expectations, it rates much more fairly as a three star. Very good value for money, and as long as you have transport the location is fine. We did have an issue during our stay which meant we ended up checking out early, this was unavoidable to the hotel so would be unfair to judge them on this incident.

Great Experience Staying On A Boat ”
We really enjoyed our experience in Aquamarina Hotel. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. It was quiet and really nice to have a view over the river. The breakfast was great. Even though it's a bit outside of the city centre and about 1 km from the train there are buses about a 10 minute walk and we liked that there is a public boat transportation that stops at the hotel (it's the last stop. A nice way to get to the city. There is also a big supermarket a few bus stops away that we enjoyed shopping. We highly recommend this hotel and hope to stay here again next time we are in Budapest.

Best Hotel I've been to”
Traveled with sister and girlfriend to tour Budapest. After a lot of traveling in Europe, I found this hotel to be very economical and yet the nicest hotel I've been to. I was surprised to find the hotel and entire community made our stay feel much more luxurious than we paid for.

Excellent hotel for a stay in budapest”
We had een excellent stay at the aquamarina hotel. Waking up on the donau is simply fantastic. The staff is very helpfull and the rooms are simple but well kept. The city center is a 10 minute walk to the trainstation and a 10 minute ride away. Good value for money.

Lovely hotel and service ”
i spent two days at the aquamarine hotel. i am very pleased with the service and i was very satisfied with my stay at this hotel. hotel and rooms were very clean. in some forums i read that people have objections because they could not open windows in the rooms. i have no objections for that, because i did not expect that. i don't know where they got their ideas that the windows on the boat can be opened:)

Good value”
This is definitely NOT a 4-star hotel. The carpet at the entrance was grimy and the "shower gel" was an old-looking bottle of hand soap that I'm pretty sure had been thinned out with water. BUT, it's by far the nicest hotel I've stayed at. The view on the Danube is wonderful, as is the sound of the water at night. Less wonderful was the sound of dance music til 3am on Saturday night.there appears to be a club on the top deck. It's a bit far out from downtown Budapest, but the bus-metro combo is easy enough. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is okay -- they don't seem to ever re-fill the platters and there was no black tea. The beach by the hotel is lively by day, but be sure to order food by 6pm or so. Overall, a positive experience, but it's important to know what you're in for.

Great first 3 days, horrible 4th”
the first three days were fine, the bedroom was big, clean, and organised. they do not give you any toiletries, just hand soup and towels. the restaurant is quite unprofessional, but the food was great on the first day. second and third days were okay, just like the first, nice breakfast and nice receptionists. on the fourth day, being my last in budapest, we were very tired, came to the hotel hoping for a nice hot meal, but all we got was a really grumpy waiter, who kept mumbling on his on language and got even more upset when more guests came to eat. the food was stone cold after waiting over 40 minutes for it, my desert was brought with the main meal, and no salt or pepper were put on the tables, like the days before. we only then realised there was a big party going on, probably a wedding, and that the hotel guests were being left in second plan. it was about 11 when i came to the horrible conclusion the music was going to blast the whole night, people speaking very loudly outside my bedroom and trying my door for what reason i don't know. this went on until about 4am, when i had already given up sleeping long before. i had a two hour nap, and checked out, but with my complain nothing was done, just got a shake on the head from the attendant, saying i should have phoned the reception. it was the worse night on my life, and if i could have known i would have asked to be changed hotels so they could have their party.

A great stay in a very comfortable location”
I loved it. I was a little worried about staying on a boat in December because I thought it might be cold. But it was perfect. I had a huge warm room for a very reasonable price - in fact, just one euro more than I paid recently for a cold, noisy, uncomfortable room in a hostel in another city! My only criticism was that the hotel could be signposted better from the local public transport, as the boat service doesn't operate during the winter. But the location is very nice - in a leafy suburb just 20 minutes by bus from the city centre. The staff were helpful and the wifi reception was excellent.

Cool wavy emotions ”
The hotel is basically a boat with two decks. Small, but cozy rooms. Clean and quite. Tasty breakfast. If you need a Wi-Fi with good qualitative connection, ask the room closer to reception, as router is located over there. Hotel is located not far from Romai baths, where you can refresh

rather 2 star hostel on Budapest's periphery”
I read the reviews of this hotel and thought this would be a much nicer place than what we saw when we arrived. We were really surprised how far away from city center this hotel is (about 1 hour by public transport). Forget about taking taxi to return hotel at night - the cost is so high that it is much better to book something more expensive in city center. Aquamarina could look nice in photos. In real life, boat is ugly and old. What is more, during short stay we have two unpleasent experiences. My girlfriend is due to health problems on strict gluten free diet - we have contacted Aquamarina before visit and asked if it is possible to eat something gluten-free on breakfest. The answer was "we have buffet breakfast, so your girlfriend can have something that doesn't contain gluten. We can also provide gluten-free bread." In fact there wasn't anything gluten-free. Is it that hard to inform that gluten-free meals are not provided? Second experience was with left stuff. In a rush of leaving, I left a few things. I emailed to Aquamarina and asked if it is possible to send these items back to Poland. No response. If you are looking for cheap, old hostel in periphery of Budapest, Aquamarina wouldn't be that bad. If you are looking for 4-star hotel, definately look for something different.

Not more than OK”
We chose this hotel because it was the cheapest 4*, and close (20min by car) to the Formula 1 track Hungaroring. The location (on a ship) is interesting, rooms are rather small. TV was from the 90s, remote did not work, strange smell in the room (but one gets used to it), aircondition did not work well enough (need to mention it was 39°C outside). The hotel is a good option if you are going to Budapest for Formula 1 or Sziged-Festival (also relatively close). Take a taxi to go there.

perfect”
breakfast is OK, room is big with huge hd tv comfortable double bed. Everything is clean enough. Staff is normal, polite, speak a lot of language. The boat is from 30 minutes to the castle, you have to see that. And the hungarian girls are the most beautiful all over the world.

Small room without window & awful breakfast”
Stayed over there for 4 nights. Had a car so the location was not a problem for us, but without it the location is definitely a problem. It is 20 min far from the city center, and don't even know there's a bus to get there. For car users the parking was free of charge, which is very good thing with this hotel. First morning we went down to the breakfast buffet around 9.30 am (it ends @ 10.00am), the foods were all out and they never filled them up again. It was awful and terrible. Second day was little better, but the waiter was terribly busy, so he couldn't even have time to give us coffee. The worst thing about this hotel is there is no window in the room. This gave bad smell in my room for all day. Moreover, one day we came back to our room, the room was not cleaned. Exactly it was stopped in the middle of cleaning. They took the towels and didn't give back the new one, and didn't even touch the betset. I wouldn't stay here ever.. there're more friendly & closer to city center hotels or panzio in budapest. Wouldn't say they even worth the price.

Nice hotel, interesting area and decent service”
A very interesting experience in a fairly energetic area. The staff were quite nice (compared to most Hungarians we encountered). Breakfast was quite good and the room was big enough.

It is slightly far from a station (about 1 mile). Taking account of the facility, the hotel bill is quite low. We could park the car without paying additional charge. The receptionists were kind.
