Place's great, ”
place's near to bus station and train station to arashiyama. convenience store and some fast food restaurant is very near, if you want to travel a bit around kyoto, I recommend to rent a bike, its easier to travel to find places to eat or visit some areas, you'll have great time. if the place's too far, just use the train / bus. anyway the bike shop is near to kyoto station and its around 1500 yen / 24 hours The Hotel's staffs are nice, they offered you whether you want to ECO-clean (means they'll only change trashbin, towel and toothbrush) or a full clean service, if you choose eco clean you'll get free drink card that you can use in their vending machine. they also provide microwave and laundry area(at least 200 yen needed, for wash machine and dry machine)

Great deal”
I often stay near this station, and Ark Hotel definitely offers the best balance of cost, location and facilities in my opinion. The breakfast is pretty good as well.

Exceptional”
This is a place that travellers explorers must try up. The receptionists not only do their jobs as receptionists but they also give you information and advice. They have maps that you can ask for a few copies for yr group. The bathrooms are small, very small, but clean. The breakfast is simple but no complaint when it is free but enough to start the day. You won't regret.

Friendly staff”
We arrived earlier, staff was friendly to keep our luggages due to yet right time to check in. Hotel is very near train and bus station, a lot of nice foods around, very convenient to go every way. Inside hotel only enough stay for 2persons, unable to add even one. Clean hotel and has ready sleeping suit for us.

Good stay for couple”
Standard room decor, but the bed was a bit stiffer than other hotels I tried in Japan. It had the feeling of box spring. Slept okay though. Eco cleaning, so just towel changes. There is a Kyoto accommodation tax on top of the normal booking cost. Amenities include a coin laundry and microwave and vending machines of course. Key is an actual metal key, which needs to be left with the staff at the front desk during ventures outside of the hotel, which I thought was strange. I guess they don't want customers losing the key. This might be a security risk, easy to get a room key back, didn't have to confirm my identity.

Older, more spacious hotel in a mundane part of the city”
Rooms in this older hotel are rather larger and calmer than in more modern places but the location is a little out of the way (except for the tram to Arashiyama). The surrounding area isn't exactly charming, but I would consider staying here again in preference to more central hotels if they manage to keep the prices down.

Good location, friendly staff, clean rooms”
The Ark Hotel at Kyoto is located in the center of Kyoto city. It is quite close to the metro/bus station and easy to reach. Nijo castle as well as the Imperial Palace can easily be reached in a 20 min walk or by bus. If you're interested in cheap breakfast or lunch, you will find three 7/11 shops close to the hotel. Price for accommodation is very good, rooms are small, but clean and way enough if sightseeing is the main reason for staying there.

My preferred hotel in Kyoto ”
The staff are gracious and efficient. We received complimentary bowl of noodles for supper which is welcomed when one arrives late n too tired to step out of Ark hotel to search for a meal. Breakfast is substantial with Continental -cereals yoghurt choice of bakery n Local choice of rice porridge miso tofu fruits etc The main Hankyu Omiya station is 3 mins away. There is a subway called Shijo-omiya station one min away and 3 bus stops nearby to take you to the Gion area, Kyoto station & to other parts of Kyoto. Highly recommended

Good location, clean rooms but poor wifi”
Ark hotel is close to the old electric railway that takes you to Arashiyama. There are also plenty of buses in the vicinity of the hotel that can take you to most attractions in Kyoto. The hotel has an interesting policy where you can trade up room service in the morning for two free bottled drinks. The only complaint is that the wifi connection is very poor (non-existent) in the rooms. I had to go down to the lobby to use the wifi, which was very inconvenient.

Vacation at Ark Hotel”
We stayed 4 nights at Ark hotel Kyoto. The room was big and clean, the staff were nice and know good English. There is a computer in the lobby used for free internet access. The Hankyu Rail line one minuet walk from the hotel, from there a connection to the subway line is needed to get to Tokyo Station and to the main attractions. From Tokyo station, the hotel can be reached by a 10 min bus ride.

It was a really good hotel.”
I recommend this Ark hotel to my friends. I could take a bus at Kyoto station and get off in front of the hotel. Even though I was alone, I provided a really nice and big and clean room. It was convenient to move because it was right in front of Omiya Station. It was convenient to take the bus to go to the famous site of Kyoto. I wanted to stay at this hotel if the schedule permits.

I would highly recommend Ark Hotel Kyoto for anyone planning a visit to this historical city. The hotel is very conveniently located next to a subway stop, streetcar stop, as well as a whole range of bus stops serving various tourist places within as well as outside the city.

Ark Hotel Kyoto”
When I arrived at Kyoto Station from Tokyo. The first thing was to visit Tourists' information center at the station. They provided me with the City map as well as the Bus route to the Hotel. Went to Bus stop A3 on the north side of station and catched Bus 206. It costs 200 Yen. Got off at the bus stop close to the Hotel. It's only few minutes walk. Room was not big but adequate with twin beds. The hotel is not the pick-up point for local tour. Have to go to nearby Hotel for pick-up. Hotel is central to few points of interest, such as Nijo Castle,Kyoto Imperial,Tenryuji Temple,Kikakuji temple(Golden Pavillion). They can be reached by either Bus or train. The 1-day Kyoto tour costs 11,600(including lunch) yen per person. If you want to save money, travel by bus or train yourself will still get you to the place you want.

Great location, good rooms, friendly staff”
I was a solo traveller first time in Kyoto. This hotel is in a excellent location, only 1 stop from the main part of town on the Hankyu line and right at the terminal stop of the shijo-omiya electric line which goes to a lot of tourist sites. The bonus is you can even take the Hankyu line all the way to Osaka which is a 40-45 minute rude for only 400 yen. Although the hotel is old it is very well mantained and spotless. The only thing to watch out for is carrying large bags from Kyoto station. You will have to swap lines twice in very non-big bag friendly stations as the companies that run the lines are different. Very bizzare concept coming from Sydney. That is just something to keep in mind that isn't to do anything with the hotel per se, but just something to consider when getting there. Also watch out what train you get on as the express ones don't stop at Oyima! Overall great hotel and Kyoto is a magical place you must visit. Can't wait to go back and would stay there again.
