Comfy, targeting world-wide backpacking people. In this freezing-cold JPN weather, however, I'd recommend booking one of the rooms "with" an air conditioning. Friendly&lively assembly@common place 1F w/ a Kotatsu heater on the weekend evenings, where various languages cross over, is part of the focus this hostel could offer you as well...

Value price. Perfect location, very near both railway Shin-Immamiya sta. and subway Dobutsuen-mae sta. Also not far from Tsutenkaku Tower by walk. The staffs are friendly and helpful! There is a baggage storage room. If you check in early, you can keep your stuff there.

Pros: very accessible to railways line Very cheap if you want to have solo room Accessible to Donki and has many establishment outside. Staff are english fluent and helpful Cons: The facilities are already old but feel nostalgic. Shower room is in different floor Inside Nishinari which is notorious for homeless people. Will stay again in the future.

I only stayed for one night.. sadly! It’s an amazing place and has lots of things to discover. Starting with nice drawings in the whole hostel, different colors and patterns in every toilet and a rooftop I did not visit yet. I hope to come back on my next stay in Osaka to spend more time in all the provided facilities. Don’t forget to check out the ‘do-it-yourself takoyaki’-store around the corner (sometimes opens later than estimated)!!

Excellent place to stay - comfortable bed, complimentary fan (although can get a little hot), clean bathrooms. Despite the decent hotel, there were drunk squatters and junkies all over the area. Energy was bad. A fire even broke out at the building next door. The internet was also slow.

Receptionist came a good recommendation at early conversation. They can provide more related items on traveling gadget if you do not prepare, plug in adaptor or towel as a sample for sales. It is so close to a railway station and many convenient stores, especially opposite one on right side of other railway station this hotel located as to provide more technological devices I would have a substitute. Night sleep with budget.

Toyo Hostel is a very old building (probably a former company dormitory) that was reformed and painted, Have very cool things like a 24 hour shower booths, a recreational room with few retro gaming and a 24 hour reception. Those 3 aspects are very rare to see in any other place not only inside Japan but overseas. The price is not bad, less than 2.000 yen per night inside a individual 6 sized tatami room with futon. The toilets are big and with brand new washlet included. The building is near to the entrance of Shin Sekai and only 20 minute walk to DenDen Town. Near to the Shinsekai entrance there are a 24 hour Don Quijote store. For the budget, I think will be hard find better. The individual room is more than enough just for sleep. My only "complain" was the full packed refrigerator that the other guests uses, 2 refrigerators definitely are NOT enough. Too many people for a such limited space. Besides that, no major problems to be reported. I recommend.

Very nice hotel, value for money is unbeatable, location is perfect (2 minute walk to the metro station). Downsides are the building is a little old, the walls are quite thin, some rooms are noisier than others.
