Nestled in the beautiful nature in Hakuba, Big Bear Chalets & Apartments offers well-appointed accommodation fitted with kitchen facilities and an en suite bathroom. Chalets are made with natural timbers, and apartments feature modern designs. They are situated in different locations in Hakuba. Free Wi-Fi is available, and shuttle services from JR Hakuba Station and to ski resorts and supermarkets are provided. Chalets are within a 3-minute walk from Happo-One Ski Resort, and Hakuba Station is a 7-minute drive away. They come with a dining area and a living room with comfortable sofas and a bilingual cable TV. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, a microwave and cooking stoves. A large multi-person stone bath and toiletries are included in the bathroom. Available from October 2013, apartments are situated right at the base of Happo-One Ski Resort, providing ski-in ski-out access. They are fitted with an international cable TV, well-equipped kitchen and a terrace/balcony. The en suite bathroom comes with a bath tub. The property can arrange daily mountain shuttles, ski rental, lift passes and in-house babysitting upon request. Basic services like linen changes, waste removal and snow clearing are provided. No meals are offered. There are plenty of dining options in the area.

Comfort accommodation!”

The facilities of the apartment were very practical and everything was perfectly equipped. Very comfortable to stay and I enjoyed staying there despite the bad weathers! The staff (Yoneda-san) was really efficient and she made my weekly stay very comfortable.
I could hear the noise/voices from next door (neighbour’s room) which was not a big issue but it would have been better if I couldn’t.

Great one week stay”

Spent a week at the accommodation. Well located near Iwatake MTB park, hiking trails, grocery, all within minutes’ driving distance. Clean and new, decently equipped kitchen, good layout and enough room for one or two people. Hiromi-san did a great job at check-in and any support that was required.

Good place to stay with kids”

The location is amazing. It’s very close (less than a 5 minute walk) to the Sakka lifts and kids snow park. It had a fully equipped kitchen that made it easy to cook and stay in. The beds were comfortable.
The apartments are nice but pretty small. Not ideal for hosting other families or groups but comfortable for one small group or family. I believe this is quite normal for Japan. The walls are very thin and you can hear neighbors snoring or laughing.

Free Netflix, modern, kitchen, balcony, bathroom, beds were all good. Close to ski lift. Got a free upgrade to a larger apartment.
Steep stairs, no elevator although the building had only ground floor and 1st floor.

The apartment is fully equipped which is good for a long stay. Easy access to the apartment
A bit noise in the room on the ground floor as it’s right next to the main street and the window also facing that in one of the unit (as I stayed in two different ones) so you kind of always have the blinds close if you need some privacy.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at Big Bear Apartments. Thank you!”

Our apartment was clean and spacious. Floor heating was great. The bed was super comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped with a stove and a dishwasher. They offered a free shuttle to and from the bus stop that we arrived and left from as well as a daily free shuttle to the grocery store and restaurants which was very convenient. It was a great location, only walking distance to the Happo One chair lift. The building also had a dry room we were able to leave our skis in that also had a washing machine and dryer.
Our only complaint would be the window above the kitchen sink did not have a curtain so it let a lot of light into the apartment at night and early in the morning.

Nice Place to Stay”

It was a nice apartment, location was good, it was a 2 minute walk to Sakka ski lift, love the grocery runs, and free shuttle bus to get around if you don’t have a car. Darren (owner) and Anthony were super nice, picking us up and dropping us off at Hakuba Base Camp, and giving us the ins and outs of the place and places. Would definitely stay here again!
Everything was good about the apartment, but only one thing that needed attention was a little mold growing on the grout in the shower. The other thing was that Daiko (worker/shuttle person) was not helpful or friendly at all, it seemed like we were a burden to him when he was around. When he wasn’t around, he’d be in the laundry room working on his ski’s. One day he called in sick (we only found this out because he was scheduled to drop our friend off at Hakuba Base Camp) he never showed and my friend almost missed his bus to the airport. The very next day, our other tfriends saw him at Iwatake mountain skiing when he was supposed to be sick, when he saw them, he ran away quickly. This kind of employee really makes it bad for the owners who are such nice people and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant.

Great ski accommodation”

Darren was very flexible and catered for us even though we arrived very late in the evening and was very helpful during our stay. Restaurant shuttle was very helpful. Accommodation was just what we needed, warm and comfortable with great facilities. Good location, not too far from bars, restaurants and ski lift (100m)
