Traveling to Mexico? Find Cancun hotels

Located far enough away from the "party area" of the Hotel Zone to be peaceful, but close enough to be convenient. We stayed for 3 nights in March 2018, at $134 USD/night and I think that was a fair price for the amenities. Concierge was helpful and everyone was friendly. Located right in front of the beach, with a decent view from probably every room. Some resorts tout having a "private beach," but there are no such things in Mexico. We did not try the all-inclusive package or any of the restaurants. I recommend booking your transportation from/to the airport in advance (Thomas More requires 48 hours advance booking). Our round trip taxi for 2 people was $60 USD after some haggling at the airport. Booking with Thomas More would have been a little cheaper and less of a hassle.

Overall our experience at the Excellence Riviera Cancun was an exceptional value for the money we paid (which was a premium over the Christmas holiday but still lower than most all-inclusive resorts in the area). Our suite was spacious with double vanities in the bathroom and a large walk-in shower. We stayed for 7 nights and had dinner at a different restaurant every night. Buffet breakfast is a better option than menu service option. Great daytime activities if you want to participate, or you can just relax. Good evening entertainment. Staff was very friendly and always sought to be helpful. There are 3 main areas that could be improved (these are fine points and don't detract from an otherwise great stay) * Housekeeping/mini-bar staff completely ignore when you have the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign posted * * House wines generally from Chile & pretty cheap. Wine list is pricey. Recommend bringing own wine * Bring small bills for tipping. Only ATM charges 10% premium

Best trip to Cancun,hotel staff was amazing, food at hotel restaurant's was amazing. Location was amazing. Room had a beautiful view,best time to go NOT CROWDED NO SPRING BREAKERS..only stated 2 days but will definitely be back.The pool area was clean water was warm,staff was very attentive ,cant say enough about about it,definitely a diamond in the ruff..Alot of reviews talk about the beach and pool being crowded,I can see that if its a busy time of season for the hotel, but we had plenty of options..Very best time to go..We went on our anniversary, even room service was great, fast,all you needed and more..it was a great choice..very happy to have stayed here..will definitely be back

Overall, I had a blast time stayed at this hotel. I wish the room was more clean and updated. The bathroom shower was bad. We can’t even turn on full water or else water will splashes all over the floor. When I booked the hotel I wanted a King bed for me and my husband. But we end up with double beds and no views. Beside the room , I love the food and the staffs was very friendly and kind. I wouldn’t mind coming back. Price of the hotel was reasonable for all inclusive.

I don't normally do Mexico but I was there with a group for a birthday celebration. They went through a travel agent but I booked with Agoda. There was no difference in service what so ever. I was pleased from the moment I stepped foot on the property, after getting out of the airport shuttle. Everyone there pays attention to details and they are very attentive. You are greeted with a smile by everyone. Yes, we did tip frequently but I don't mind. They work hard and go out of their way to please people. I tell everyone, go to the bank before you leave and get a lot of 1's and 5's. It is well worth it. I don't have any complaints with the cleanliness of the property. You constantly see someone mopping, scrubbing, cleaning windows or doing something related to sprucing up the facility. The only downside and it's very small, is, housekeeping came to clean the room so late. Most days it wasn't until 3 or 4 they would ring the bell. Yes, each room has a bell.

We had visited for a friends wedding the previous year and decided to go to another spot for a trial. After 1 night at the new resort we booked this place while in Cancun. We found the Foyer and main dining room remodeled and quality still up to our exoectations. The drinks selection could be improved but that’s only because I saw they have JW red label instead of Black displayed on the bars.

The reason for choosing this hotel is because I was under the impression that this is an all exclusive adults only hotel. But we were surprised that the hotel was swarming with children. Nothing wrong with it but just false advertisement and misleading information. It was even briefed to us that it is an adults only hotel. Jacuzzi was one we were looking forward to was overcrowded by children. Beach also starts to smell like sewage.

The beach is absolutely world class. Amazing sand and clear water. This alone makes the Grand Oasis worth it, but then you add in the 1/4 mile long pool, day parties/concerts, and views of Cancun from the Pyramid and the beach deck are breathtaking. The scene during March and April (Spring Break) is for singles looking for a good time. The bars and pool are always full of fun people. Not recommended for couples or families during this time at least. Stay away from the two Oasis Lite restaurants at either end of the property. These are the cheaper restaurants for people who did not pay extra for the Pyramid. It is easy to go there because they seem to always be open, but there is A LOT better food at the Pyramid only restaurants especially White Box and the buffet restaurant above White Box.

I have been to Mexico atleast 7 times, I have stayed at all-inclusives before. I consider myself and savvy travel shopper. Not just a value traveler, we also will do luxury. We had my daughters best friend from college with us. I had promised the parents not to leave resort due to the unrest in Mexico's political climate at this time. I chose this resort because it had enough amenities between both resorts (Royal Solaris Caribe) that they could play tennis, mini golf, all pools, hot tubs, restaurants, bars, kayaks and paddle boats. This was not the case. We were not premiere members? We were falsely sold our vacation. Also, as soon as we walked in the travel sales membership people were all over us! I'm sorry to say that I could never buy a time-share of any sort at this place because it is dated. If you wanted bacon at the buffet, you had to ask. There was water leaks and a musty smell. On a positive note, the beach is nice, the location is nice, the people that cleaned room GREAT!

Location is right in a perfect spot of hotel zone. 3 minute drive to downtown cancun but far enough away to have some quiet time on the beach if sought out. All inclusive foods, drinks were out of this world. There were never a time of the day or night you couldn't order food. Drinks stopped at 1am, at the lobby bar. Room service provided such high quality food i just was astonished

We had a wonderful stay at GR Solaris Cancun Resort. This day was simply an additional day added on to our 4 night stay because we didn't want to leave! Peter, our concierge was a great help. The entire Entertainment Staff kept us included in all activities, and kept everything very fun! I wish I had half of their energy! Our servers, especially David in Marco Polo, and Mayky in the buffet, were exceptional! Wish they would have free WiFi throughout the hotel. Would have made booking another night easier. Also wish the food would have been a bit on the more exceptional side, but for an all-inclusive, it was good.

I had really a great experience staying in such an amazing resort . Location is perfect , u can find around lots of restaurants, shopping and clubs . Beach is nice and u can go to another beaches related to your neighbor hotels . I really loved my room with the amazing sea view and balcony . The room has been cleaned every day with changing a new bed set ! Stuff is really friendly , helpful ! U feel they care about you and as for me they support me in some questions . I recommend this hotel to everyone and if I come back to Cancun so deffenetley to First Americana Cancun ! Thank u to make my vacation . I hope see u soon .

Weird hotel. Obviously was intended as a shopping centre but then somebody decided to turn it into a hotel. Rather eery as the escalators are turned off, they have a hottub which is empty and the hotel is designed as a plastic mayan design on the outside, but the rooms have a fashion design theme. The combination of themes do not make sense. However, in a reasonably expensive area of Mexico, this was a cheap, pleasant enough hotel, close to nightlife(if you are into that) and a decent place for a stop-over.

Very disappointed with the attempt to remake the hotel image. For those of us that are frequent travelers and visited the hotel during its first years of operation continued to come back because we expected a certain adult vibe from this hotel. This year I had heard that the hotel was loosing clientele but was willing to give it a try any way. But as opposed to booking a 6 day stay as we would have, we went to two other adult only resorts first, that pretty much were dead as we expected. Mainly catering to the much older crowd which is fine. We thought we saved returning to the best for last was a good idea. But this idea of the hotel wanting to remake the image is not what those that are younger and hopefully have 20 to 40 more years of traveling ahead of them is looking for when booking this resort. I am just one of many that will not be returning. There are plenty of places that still offer what this location once did. Good luck with the 55 and over crowd.

My first Cancun experience became wonderful thanks to GR Caribe By Solaris. All staffs are very kind and helpful. All restaurant's foods and drinks are excellent. Especially Marco polo is my best place. Don't miss making the reservation. I have 4-year-old daughter. She loves all pools and Kids club. She enjoyed water slides again and again. If I had to pick up disappointment points, it is that they do not have a coin-laundry. We need to use laundry services with additional price.

This hotel is perfectly located in the center of the North shore, the best beach on Isla Mujeres. it also sits promptly at the end of the main street on the island (where all restaurants and shops are) for easy access to everything else. the hotel itself is small and pretty simple RE facilities, but everything is well kept and presented nicely. we had very little interaction with the staff but they were very friendly nonetheless and everything was ready to go with our room upon arrival. the only downfall for this hotel is that it doesnt offer breakfast as others do, and that which is offered is quite pricey. yet if you dont mind eating out in the mornings, theres really nothing to complain about - excellent choice for isla mujeres visitors.

Had a very pleasant experience. The free breakfast in the morning was quite good. The fruit was so fresh . The best feature was the free shuttle to the airport as taxis were very expensive in Cancun. Everyone spoke proficient English and were very friendly. This is a great hotel for people leaving Cancun early on theorming and don't want to spend ridiculous ai prices.

Me and my boyfriend just came back from a 4 days stay at The Royal in Cancun and there is nothing we could say that would have made it more perfect. The location, the rooms, the restaurants, the staff, the service, the decoration, the view, absolutely everything was wonderful. We will definetely go back and stay there again. When we arrived, our Royal Concierge asked us if we were celebrating any special date, and as we said it was Valentine's Day in Brazil, she ordered a heart shaped rose petals decor and sent us a bottle of champagne and a kind of a wedding cake to our room. It was so cute and romantic. We do definetely recomend this hotel to couples, celebrating or not a special date.

Boutique hotel with about 90 suites. Located in Puerto Morelos, not Cancun. The beach was horrible. One of the main reasons I go to Mexico is to enjoy the beach. The water was brown and smelled. Nobody was swimming in it. I drove 20 minutes north to the Hotel Zone to a public beach and it was amazing. On a positive note, the hotel staff are excellent, very friendly and accommodating. The restaurants were very good - no buffet, all menu a la cart. I would rate the hotel, room and staff as excellent, the restaurants and quality of food as very good - portions very small, and beach poor. I would say 3.5 stars tops. I have stayed at the Finest and Beloved, which are better resorts in my opinion.
