"1) Very cheap 2) Walking distance to the inter-state train / bus station which is essential if you'd like to spend most of your time doing outdoor activities. Hualien's attractions are sporadic - so it is a lot more efficient to stay nearby the inter-state station than trying to find a place nearby some of the attractions. Plus, most of the main attractions are outside Hualien and you will need to take the bus to get around. 3) Very clean 4) The staffs were very hospitable, excited and cheerful. I was very impressed with their customer service. I left a metal ear pick in my hotel room after I left which I could not care less, and the staffs called and even sent me an e-mail stating that they were more than happy to post it! A bit extra but hey, for a small hotel in a small town, this hotel has better customer service than some of the 4-5 star hotel I had been to. 5) You can hire bicycles for free! As mentioned earlier, Hualien 's attractions are sporadic - riding a bicycles would make your trip a lot more fun! I personally feel like a stay in Hualien is incomplete without riding a bicycle around the town - plus it is free!"

"About 5 to 10 minutes walk for Hualien train station. The front desk (Jack, Nick when I checked in and a lady when I checked out) is very friendly. They will try to answer any questions your may have regarding Hualien/Taiwan. Simple clean and comfy room. I like the sitting area where you can chill after a tiring day out. However, please take note the check in time is 3pm. I was there at 2:30pm and there were no person to attend to me. I could not even enter the premise. Perhaps that is something the management can look into. Even we cannot go into the room, at least there is a reception to allow us to leave our luggages etc."

"Walking distance to and from Hualien Station. Just look out for a bright yellow building which is very visible from the station. Staff service is impeccable and exemplary. They would drop whatever they are going just to greet you aloud, like Japanese style. Close to dining options too though bit far to night market. But no fault of theirs. 1st hotel we come across that serves supper and its so sumptious with noodles, porridge etc which can be considered as late dinner. Lots of variety for buffet breakfast too. You will be spoilt for choice. They tried to arrange a Taroka Gorge day trip for us. But travel agency advised not to go there as they are falling rocks and stones. Instead we spend time in Hualien city instead. We book a business double but they upgraded us free to a quad room with 2 queen beds equipped with a bath tub. 2 thumbs up to them. Only issue is sound proofing can be better. You can literally hear conversations when people talk and pass by the corridor outside. "

"We stayed at the Leader Village Taroko for 3 nights and spent our Christmas at the Village. We reached Hualien by TRA pretty late and only made transport booking couple of hours prior to our arrival. The Village staff was very accomodating and arranged a pick up for us immediately. Once we reached the Village, we were greeted by the beautiful view of Taroko. Villages (rooms) are surrounded by mountains and the view outside the room is breathtaking! The village (room) is very spacious and well maintained-clean and bright. They also provided breakfast and dinner. The food is a mixture of Taiwanese and Western style. For dinner, they always have BBQ wild boar which we loved to eat so much. After dinner, there were musical and dance performaces conducted by the Village's staff and owner which emphasizes the Taroko tribe's culture with some fun (modern dance) added to it. Though the performances are conducted in Mandarin (and i dont understand Mandarin), we still found it interesting and watched it everynight. One thing which we remembered the most is the attitude of the staff and their service. The staffs were very friendly and thoughtful. For example, we needed to leave very early on our last day, they helped to arrange a pick up and also packed breakfast for us! And because we stayed for 3 nights, on our last night, they gave us complimentary food (we chose beef steak)! Overall we had an enjoyable and lovely stay at the Village. We will definitely stay again at Leader Village Taroko. "

It is located next to the main shopping "triangle" in Hualien, where you can find clothes, shoee and local street food. We will certainly stay at Arsma again if we visit Hualien again!"

"We stayed in one of the family rooms and we definitely enjoyed our 3D 2N stay. The breakfast choices were limited but being a relatively new hotel, the staff was eager to serve and friendly. It is near one of the beaches so you could enjoy a stroll near the sea (within walkable distance). The place is near the biggest night market in Hualien so 5 stars for the location too."

"This hostel is my favorite in Taiwan. It's very well located just right in front of the main train station in Hualien and bus station to go to Taroko and other places. The double bed in a dormitory is very comfortable and with some privacy due to the curtains. Pillows are comfy, clean and big, also the bed. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They clean very well every single place in the hostel. There are free tea and coffee, and some convenient facilities to enrich your stay. It has a cozy decorated, and places to socialize. Highly recommended, don't think twice, because is value for money"
