Best hotels & accommodations in Magelang

The property is set on what feels like the most beautiful 22 hectares in the world right in the middle of the most lush and gorgeous green jungle backdrop with volcanoes all around. It has the best spa in Indonesia which is very good value for money; the food at the restaurant was the best we have had in Indonesia; the staff were extremely attentive and helpful (espec...

The Hotel consists of rooms located in a hilly landmark. It is more like resorts compare to other Hotel that I have been stayed at Magelang. Definitely the best Hotel in Magelang with friendly and professional staffs. There is an amusement park next to Hotel complex which one of tourists attraction at Magelang city.

Atria Hotel in Borobudur, Magelang, Indonesia should be a 5-star rating. This hotel opened in 2014 and sits just at the edge of town. Therefore, nothing is within walking distance, but the staff can call a taxi or you can hire a driver for the day - I would highly recommend this. The Borobudur Temple is not far, but you need a ride. Highly recommend renting an umbr...

Our stay at the Villa Borobudur was the capstone to an extended trip of a lifetime through Southeast Asia. The design of the facility reflects traditional Javanese architecture and is centered on the ancient Buddhist Temple Borobudur located in the valley below. We expected the views to be superlative but what was unexpectedly wonderful was the food. The all Indonesia...

The rooms are Indonesian wood buildings that take you back 100 years. Very nice. No bugs. Clean. AirCon worked GREAT. The staff was the best we have encountered in Indonesia, and we LIVE here. The food was excellent. Borobudur is 5 minutes away. The staff arranged damn tour of the temple. They arranged a driver and van to pick us up at the airport and take u...

The hotel is very comfortably located just next to the entrance to Borobudur temple, which is the main reason we selected this hotel. We contacted them before our arrival and inquired about a pick up from Yogyakarta Airport. They were very helpful and even suggested that since we arrived in the morning, to take us with the car to see Prambanan temples and then later to...

During my stay the hot water is not working, i choose room number 1 there is the best view to see borobudur temple with merapi merbabu mountain as the background. The swimming pool edges are sharp, dangerous for children, please follow up. Parking is too far, but still need more spaces. unfortunately a tower blocked the borobudur view from restaurant. This is a good pl...

Nice and cheap hotel close to the location of the Borobudur temple. The location little bit inside in the shophouse (ruko) area. Know this location from Maps and the rating is pretty good. Parking in front of the hotel in a row of shop houses but it is safe because there is a hotel and shophouse security. If you traveling with family, take 2 rooms with connecting d...

The guest house is a challenge to find. Taxi drivers even have to ask locals the whereabouts of this place. However, it is located about a mile from the temple. For those who want to save, you can take the Damri bus to Borobudur (not Magelang) from the airport at 80,000 rupiah one way. Once you reach the bus station in Borobudur, either you walk a mile or take a ojek a...

This hotel in the center of Magelang City. Its near with old bus station and also near with Shopping center. Facility complete including Big Swimming Pool. Staff friendly. Only this hotel doesnt have elevator. So if you get room in the 2nd floor you need to use stairs. Quite difficult for old people. Have to deal with them to ask for 1st floor room.

- Lokasi mudah dicari, lingkungan masih alami - Ada welcome drink plus cemilan - Bisa parkir langsung di depan kamar - Kamar mandi di belakang, ada kursi teras di depan - Ada sajadah, tasbih & buku tuntunan sholat - Ada ketel listrik, hair dryer - Di kamar twin lebar bed single : 90cm, tp 2 bed tdk permanen jd bisa disatukan - Tdk ada meja tulis, tp ada kursi & meja ko...

I think this hotel should be rated 3 or maybe 2. The poor neighbourhood might be the reason for 1 star rating. A few beggers around and people staring at us as white tourists. Overall I loved staying in Magelang. We found a small cafe within walking distance and had a cuppa and delicious roti cocolate (jaffle filled with nutella sort of). Wide pavements to walk on away...

The location is quite close to the Borobudur temple if you plan to visit the temple. The Hotel is clean, comfort but quite remote from the main city. The closest town is Magelang which is about 15 mins drive. If you there, you should try the spa treatment or the massage. In term of improvement; 1. The management should take care of the maintenance around the place...

For a price so low, it is an acceptable room with fan. Very near to the Borobudur temple, just about 1.2 km away walk. Beautiful sight to behold. You can take a bus from the city to arrive at a hotel at a fraction of what the pedicab will charge you. You get to savour the local delicacies around the area.

The place felt like a real secluded retreat with a mountain behind but close enough to Borobudur temple and lots of little villages. The house has a beautiful interior which feels authentic and comfortable. The outdoor spaces were delightful. I spent a lot of time relaxing and reading on the day beds in the warm sun. Gafar made me feel at home with his friendly welcome...

Value For money : well for 250K this is one of the best location to reach city attraction in magelang (Alun-alun, food) Location : city center, close to some good food place Facility : standard budget hotel one room with bathroom, the room cold be better if space arrangement for bathroom can be better. the bath room is to large for budget hotel. but for me the bed is...

This hotel is a good value-for-money accommodation in Magelang. The room is well-maintained and the staff is really friendly and will greet you with all smiles. The breakfast we had was great with quite a lot of variety. Would recommend this place to anyone staying in Magelang

This is truly a slice of heaven. You feel like family. The service is probably the best I've ever received. The food is incredible. Great breakfasts and amazing local tea. The staff are warm and generous and go above and beyond to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. They are sweet, kind, caring, and thoughtful. The surroundings are breathtaking. Fun...

The owner husband and wife are very nice. Kind owner, clean and comfortable room, nice breakfast, warm welcomed. As I was traveling alone (woman), I felt relieved very much when the wife and the son welcomed me. The owner arranged Borobudur sunrise tour and transportation for me. It was really nice and warm homestay. I traveled Indonesia for 26 days this time. Efata h...

Yudo and his team were very welcoming and did everything to make our stay enjoyable. They found us luck when many restaurants nearby were close for Ramadan and they organized very inexpensive motorcycle rides anywhere we wanted to go. Accommodations are basic but clean and cozy. Keep in mind that the homestay is a distance from the main town and not easily walkable but...

On arrival we were greeted by a wonderfully enthusiastic receptionist, but after that she disappeared. The remaining staff were impartial at best. As we wanted to rent a scooter we were quoted double the price we have been given anywhere else in Indonesia, and when it arrived it had no petrol. Also the cleanliness left much to be desired. All in all the rooms were chea...
Cheapest hotels in Magelang

Unfortunately we were there only 2 nights. Lina is a very welcoming, kind, open-hearted, lovely person and a Mother for 40 Kids leaving in the orphanage. Children are very happy there, and really happy that you stay there. Conditions are more than enough. It is also very close to the Borobudur Temple entrance and right in front of the Monahra hotel if you want to go fo...

At the time i write this review, the photos dont represent the actual room. What you get is a shared room. Like the name says Dormitory. While it's very cheap, it doesn't suit if you're a couple. And what makes me wont recommend this on friend, because when I arrived there to checked in. The hotel doesn't recognize my booking, because they claim their staff didn't ma...

Ada is awesome! The room is an excellent value, large and very clean. Easy walk (maybe 1km, maybe less) to Borobudur. Very near to the bus terminal (about a 2 minute walk). Near the traditional market as well as many restaurants and shops along the main road. But it is really Ada that makes this place so special, she really cares about her guests and treated me like I ...

Pro: Clean and comfortable room Nice breakfast with delicious fried rice, excellent pure mango juice Staff are very helpful, they serve food until in front of our room, they also help us to rent a motorbike. book this homestay in order to catch Borobudur sunrise at Manohara Resort. It takes about 35mins to walk there and make sure to know the main entrance to the resort as all the others were closed in the early hours. Tired asking the staffs but they couldn't speak English. The economical rooms were small but very clean. we end up spending most of the time at the common a...

I just love, love, love Mettaloka Guest House! I extended my stay by two days so I could stay longer. I really think people should stay in Borobudur instead of Yogyakarta, because it is a lovely town, quiet, easy to get around, and much more beautiful! I highly recommend Mettaloka as the place to stay!

A very nice guesthouse. Well situated. It was easy to walk to Borobudur for sunrise tour. They offered welcome drink (coffee) and breakfast. The room is big and very clean. New A/C. Super fast WiFi in the lobby but we could use it from the room as well! Great place for a good price. We would recommend to anyone going to Borobudur.

We (me and my wife) stayed for a week in this hotel on 4th – 11th September 2017. A little bit background: both of us are professional hotelier who live and work in Dubai for more than 10 years now. We stayed for only 2 nights but we enjoyed the place. Pros: 1. Good location If you want to join Borobudur sunrise tour then it's a great place to stay. The hotel also provides transportation (free motorbike ride) to the gate of Borobudur if you book the tour at their reception. 2. Friendly and attentive staff We checked in at 12:00 pm but there was staff there to ch...

Not only we got a beautiful joglo to ourselves, we actually got the whole compound for ourselves as we're the only guest staying. The staff were so kind, opening the gate for us when we wanted to go to the temple in the mid of the night to catch the lantern release during Vesak's celebration. The water pipe broke the second night we were there and the staffs came righ...

Traveler impressions of Magelang
If you have a car, or scooter, please try the local foods around the town. Marvellous and cheap. Try their Ayam Bakar, Nasi Gede, and Ayam Penyet.
It is a perfect place for relaxing. The quiet ambience, nice cool weather would give a very pleasant stay.
PEACEFUL PLACE TO STAY AND NEAR TO BOROBUDUR. DOESN'T LIKE JOGJAKARTA HAVE MANY MOTORBIKR ON THE ROAD.
Borobudur is nearby. Artos is a nice mall with a donut restaurant but the food court is not great. it's a small town with a little cooler weather since it's a little higher in elevation.
MAGELANG IS A PRETTY ANCIENT AND SERENCE LITTLE CITY. BEST WAY TO TRAVEL AROUND N OUTSKIRTS OF MAGELANG IS BY THEIR LOCAL MEANS OF TRANSPORT.
convenience travel from Jogyakarta and many flight available from Jakarta and Singapore. Travel time from Jog airport is just 1 hour 30 minutes.
Just need to take note of the traffic jam that may happen while travelling from the airport to this area.
The best spot in this town is the starting point for doing river rafting in the famous Progo river. Beside, we can taste some local food like 'Getuk' & 'Kupat Tahu'
The City that shining, its the take line of the City, it clean, the people are polite and friendly, the food are good and not over priced,.
Definitely a Great place to relax. Must try the local dishes like the "ayam kampung rice", avocado juice, bakso etc at the open space hawkers called "alon-alon"
The town itself has a market which tourists can checkout, although not that different from other local markets.
Buy the traditional snacks and try the local foods, visit the market and know the history of this town that famous for the military academy.
Nice indonesian city, with an interesting sight on an active volcano: we can see remaining traces from its last eruption.
Magelang is one of the region of Central Java, Indonesia. This city located next to Borobudur temple the one of the 7 wonder of the world.
happy, enjoy, great everything is ok happy, enjoy, great everything is ok happy, enjoy, great everything is ok
Lovely place away from the city. there is much more to see in the outskirts of Magelang for example it is surrounded by mountains, volcanoes and farming fields.
Very low key, safe environment relatively close to some of the major "sights' for tourists. An excellent choice of optometrists and a tailor for custom made clothes for men.
Visit the three main Buddha shrines Aman Jiwa for a meal and look up some guides on nearby markets etc and lonely planet for little restaurants.
if you are in magelang its a must to go to borobudur along the way you can cover other temple such as candi mendut and pawon just tell them to drop you for a while we get a map and jot down really save cost and you can cover much places
Magelang is a quiet city, with new shopping mall "ARTOS" (armada town square), we can spend our time to shopping.
Quite dull at night, only suit visitors who have interests in Borobudor's heritage & buildings. Excellent for people who loves meditation.
Its a pretty backward place with nothing much to visit except Borobudur. There is no nightlife and the restaurants close very early.
Plenty of shopping at Jalan Maliboro, try local hawker food which is cheap & tasty, friendly traders but prepare to haggle for good price.
Magelang is about 1-2 hours from the famous city of Jogjakarta. A must visit is BOROBUDUR. try staying in hotel nearby, you can see stunning sun rise from Borobudur and also stunning view of padi field.
It's a very native village, with a very nice country feels and fresh air. Do not expect and entertainment and shopping there, the place is suitable .
Magelang is not a must see city. Although it's good situated in the middle of Java. If you want to escape the big city of Yogjakarta, this is a good alternative.
There is a big new shopping mall. We had a car so it was a good place to stock up on supplies and to have a good cup of coffee.
It's a nice place to go, great foods, a lot to buy for traditional snacks and cakes, but don't go there during the day of idul fitri, when the moslem finish their fasting and go back to meet their families in their home town, trafic jam and when i went to Borobudur Temple, it was so crowded, didn't enjoy my last trip to the temple.
Most of the people visit to Borobudur Candi. It is a very secure place, people there are friendly and helpful.
Magelang is famous for Borobudur temple. You can find all you need to know about Borobudur in Manohara Study Center, just outside the temple.
