There are many small B&B’s close to the airport which are fine for a cheap overnight. This Wyndham is for those looking for a more luxurious stay with quality food in their restaurants, fitness room and jacuzzi tub, though no pool. Upgrading to the Club level gets you a higher floor room and access to snacks and drinks all day plus a delicious buffet dinner. Manageme...

Our rooms and ocean view were top-notch. Modern facility. Rooms felt open & airy. Open spaces. Nice breakfast in the morning that changed daily. Always had fresh, purified cold and hot water available on every floor & bottled waters throughout the rooms. Most to put away, the staff was top-notch. My husband and I have stayed at some of the nicest hotels in the wor...

I stayed at this hotel for a few hours at night between flights. I was very satisfied with my stay. I took a taxi from the taxi desk at the airport, and it was about a 10-minute ride (there was no traffic). I was welcomed by the lone night staff, who was extremely efficient checking me in, woke me up at the agreed time, then was very efficient checking me out. The ...

got a stopover between colombia and peru here in quito. the location of the hotel is ok, maybe for the weekend it would be better in the historic center but however taxis are quite cheap and all attractions are quite near. breakfast was really good. the room was huge and equiped with two balconies - thats the good point, maybe it was a bit old fashioned. the wifi was w...

Almost no complain about the hotel. When we checked in, the front desk told us there're no reservation records, even though I showed them booking voucher. I told them that this error was between the hotel and Agoda; if they have rooms available, they should give us room instead of waiting 30 minutes to understand where it went wrong. Fortunately they came to know how t...

I had a great stay in L'auberge Inn only a 10min walk from the Centro Historico. The staff are very nice and helpful, they have an integrated restaurant as well as laundry service. unfortunately my white wash came back yellow and dirty also I have asked to get clothes washed separately and prepared them and was supposed to pay more which was fine for me. white wash had...

The hotel itself is first rate with excellent modern facilities, high quality finishes and bedding, and very comfortable, firm beds. The front desk service is friendly and helpful, with good English speaking staff. There is a fine business center with 2 good computers, and one clunker. Our only disappointment was with the restaurant service, in the cafe on ground floor...

We chose Hotel Quito for its location between the airport and the Mariscal District, and for its price in its category of quality hotels. We got more than we expected, including wonderful views of Quito in one direction and mountains and hills in the other. We ate at the buffet and asked to eat only the salad bar, which was not something they usually do. They accommod...

The hotel is beautiful and in an excellent location. We booked a king deluxe room but on our arrival we were given a basic twin bed room and which is $150/night cheaper than what we paid. When asked to be moved to the room that we had booked we were told that the hotel was full and they could not move us. The hotel was very quiet so I doubt that they were at 100% ca...

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights. The owner, Jackson was very kind and provided an excellent service. We arrived early in the morning from Santa Cruz and he came to meet us and other guests at the port to take us to the hotel. The room was ready for us as soon as we arrived. He gave us lots of information and helped us to book tours and organised our ticket ba...

Most of the staff are helpful and kind, one dude is a bit grumpy. (; Beds and bathrooms feel dated – more wall sockets and curtains for privacy are needed here. However, the location is good, especially if you‘re into partying. I would probably return just to see how it develops.

We stayed 2 nights. The only window in the room has a view of the main lobby so curtains had to be closed for privacy. Don't ask for laundry service here. They charged us 30 USD for 2 small bags when there was laundry service just down the street for less than 2 dollars per kilo. The staff speaks great english. I would stay here again.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Reina Isabel - surprised by the spaciousness of the rooms & bathrooms. Back again for a second & third stay whilst in transit to exploring other countries. Be aware - that Sunday is rest day in Quito - so if you need room service - the main restaurant is closed Staff extremely friendly and helpful with all our needs, we left luggage...

A more of hostel than a hotel. Helpful staff, location not near the center of the island , you will have to walk 10-15 minute. Still safe area. Facilities are very simple a more of hostel than a hotel. You will have to pay in cash - no credit card accepted. Internet is very slow and will not work 90% of the time. There is a crossfit Gym in front of the hotel which is o...

Great location lakeside at the base of the volcanoe just outside of Otavalo- recent renovations and new lodge rooms resulted in very comfortable and cozy accommodations- fireplace in room is great! Food and staff excellent as well- restaurant has good mix of local and other menu items, all well prepared and presented- we would definitely return!!

The roof terrace is really nice to hang, the breakfast delicious, the location handy and the bedroom spacious and clean. Most importantly Louis was an excellent host, always offering to help us with anything we need and make us feel welcomed. Thank you so much, we had a great time!

My girlfriend and I met up with my parents in Quito for 5 days and ended up staying in the same hostal as them. We couldn't have been happier with our stay! The staff was incredibly helpful and courteous and the rooms were quiet. It provided an excellent "home base" while we explored both old town and new. I'd absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looki...

We arrived late in the evening at this old house hotel in the colonial old town of Quito. We asked about finding something to eat. The staff sent us to a tourist trap restaurant that had the worst food of our entire time in Ecuador. Don't bother with: Hasta la Vuelta, Señor. Dried up tilapia, mayonnaise ridden avocado rellenos. The other choice of restaurants at night ...

I had a really nice stay on Island Isabella. This hostel isn't actually on the beach, or on the town square, but is no more than 2 minutes walk from either, so is very central. The village is nice and safe, so there is no problem wandering around at any time. The hotel has good wifi, is very clean and well run, the staff are helpful and there is a kitchen if guests ...
Cheap places to stay in Ecuador

Very welcoming and outstanding staff. Laundry service is very cheap. They prioritize the safety of their customers. They always called a mototaxi for me that was safe and affordable. I would not recommend this place if you are a young solo traveler. I would recommend that you stay in Las Palmas However, I would recommend this place to anyone else that is older or w...

We stayed in both a triple & a double room on the first floor (reception area). The rooms have no natural light - NO OUTSIDE WINDOWS! The air is stale & when someone is cooking the smells fill these rooms. If you have only 1-2 nights - great! Any more & the darkness & smells may get you down ... On the weekend it was noisy with people coming back late at night (2am-4am...

Big capsule beds, super clean, good wifi, in a huge old hacienda that’s super beautiful, and their food is amazing. Downsides: they charge for refilling your own water bottle (most hotels don’t), there’s no kitchen to cook for yourself in, food is expensive and there’s no general hangout area other than the super nice restaurant which has the ambience of a restaurant, ...

This is definitely my favorite hostel in Ecuador. It was almost empty on my first night , which surprised me a lot. But the next day it was full. I extended two nights there because it has a good kitchen, good vibe , good staff and very clean everything. They even change towels every day for that cheap price we pay. I could easily stay here for one more week just beca...

Good hostel with a dorm vibe. Nice shared kitchen and beautiful views from the rooftop terrace. Staff were friendly and set up a taxi to the airport for us. Old building but is maintained well. A cat and dog live there. The area is loud in the morning but completely dead at night. Not very good for walking around after dark but the building is secure. Short walk to bus...

This is an OK place to stay if you don’t need anything fancy, and want something cheap. The floor in our room was just the same worn concrete floor as outside the room, and it didn’t feel especially cozy or comfortable. I don’t think we would stay here again, but it was acceptable for one night.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, the staff were lovely and spoke a little English, breakfast was good. The electric shower was dodgy. This hotel is NOT 10 mins from airport it took a good 45 minutes. The hotel rang for a taxi which after 30 mins had not arrived which made for a very stressful ride to the airport for our Galápagos flight. We took a local bus to the...

Lovely family run hostel, owners will do anything to help including giving information and tips on the city, helping get to the bus station etc. My single room was cute and tidy. Location is about 10 minutes walk from the historical centre and there are a number of cheap local restaurants close by. I will definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at Erupcion Art Hotel three times in the last year and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and freindly staff. Its central location makes if perfect for short walks to everything. And they will arrange tours and excursions at reduced rates. Highly recommend!

A great 'little' place tucked away in beautiful Banos, an area where everywhere is very much walkable. You might not be right in the centre of action but you are near enough to not feel too separated from civilization and yet far enough to have a sense of privacy. Wifi reception is not the best but it does the job. Shared hangout areas are big and pleasant enough. Mos...

If you stay here, I recommend choosing a 4 bed dorm versus the 8 bed dorm. The four bed dorms are just so much nicer and your stay will be more pleasant! If you are looking for a party hostel where you can drink and smoke until wee hours of the morning this is the place for you! If you are looking for a bit more quite and comfort this probably isn't the hostel for you!...

The place is very clean, from rooms to common areas Strong hot water 24/7 The location is very accessible to public transport and near the center. Staff are very helpful, they arranged an airport transfer for us at 3am and even sent us off at that time.

the staff was friendly and spoke both English and Spanish. They were super helpful with things to do and how to get around. The room was clean and bed included plenty of blankets. Bathroom was clean, had a little trouble with the shower head and the hot water but otherwise everything was great!

This hostel was the best I stayed in so far. The location is great, the area is safe, Plaza Foch (the party zone) is around the corner, but don t worry, the hostel and the street where it is located are quiet so u can get a good rest. The hostel itself is amazing! It has a very welcoming living room with TV, u would feel like u are home. U will find some other chilling...

We had two encounters with Casa CarpeDM. Our first was when we were there one evening before getting picked up for the jungle. Paul said we could use any of the common areas, gave us the wifi info, recommended a spot for dinner and gave us a key so that we could get back in the building. Amazing service when we were not even paying guests! We stayed a night at Casa Car...

Excellent quality, very well organised and clean. Situated just out of town (5-10min walk) up a fairly steep hill. The owners & family live on site and are very attentive to anything you may need and provide a fantastic breakfast too. There is an immaculate kitchen which is available to use and a small terrace with chairs & hammocks. There are a number of sensible hous...

The staff at this place is great and soo helpful with everything. Breakfast includes fruitsallad, bread, fried eggs, fresh juice and hot chocolate/tea/coffe! The only downfall with this hostel are disrespectful backpackers and thats not the hostels fault.

This hostel was a little out of the way, but Michael is wonderful! He's very friendly and interacts with guests. The atmosphere was very relaxed and Michael will cook food himself and sell it for dinner so you don't have to go out. Perfect for an overnight in Guayaquil.

I just used this as a transit location before and after Galapagos as many people do. My 6 bed dorm was spacious with clean ensure bathroom, breakfast was good, some hammocks too. The fan didn't really reach my bed though and it gets quite hot so shop around for a good bed location when entering. Staff were helpful with taxis, bus organization.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable. The desk staff were very helpful and informative. The restaurant staff also was very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant breakfasts and some dinners. The food was very fresh, and the staff answered all our questions. We were greated with a friendly smile every time we entered. We fe...

The room was clean and tidy with an exit to the garden terrace. I had a bit of an issue with light: with door closed the room is a bit dark, the ceiling lights aren't very bright either. The check in and out was quick and friendly. Staff did its best. All in all it was a pleasant experience.

Stayed here the first and last night of a 16 night trip around the country. First night, dated rooms, with noisy air conditioner. Awesome day time front desk lady. Best breakfast buffet in the country! Mini bar included in the price. Last night stay, same helpful, friendly front desk lady. Promised the mini bar again (2 beers). MUCH better room, on the second floor. Th...

My husband and I stayed here on our first few nights in Quito. We got in super late and while I had checked around to see if places would be open, this hotel was boarded up (a good reminder that I just should have called) but the owner came out and got us settled in, then suggested places for coffee and sightseeing the next day. Dinner wasn't available in the restauran...

The hotel is up the hill from downtown Otavalo. The nights, and days for that matter, are quiet and peaceful. The activities and sights in the center of town are a close taxi ride, with the surrounding areas of interest easily accessible as well. We also enjoyed touring Hacienda Cusin, which is a sister hotel, with its spectacular setting and gardens. The rooms are c...

We simply stayed here as we had a very early flight out of Guayaquil the next day at 0600. The room was decent, clean, and had a nice bathroom and airconditioner. The hotel is in a dark alley and does not seem like the safes area. There were no restaurants or shopping nearby. We took a cab from the hotel into the city for dinner. The staff were helpful and polite. They...

Very comfortable, charming and unique hotel. They have made it very comfortable despite being a 180 year old converted mansion. The breakfast was delicious, best we had in Ecuador. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The doorbell system is a bit annoying but it does provide a high degree of security. Bathroom was nice with modern shower. Bit of street noise at night i...

If you are looking for a swimming pool, sauna, or spa, move on. This hotel is NOTfor you. If you are looking for a clean, old world hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff, a very good breakfast included, and a location in the middle of El Centro, with easy taxi access, then this is the place for you.

We found Finlandia to be an excellent choice for us, close to Quicentro Mall, several pharmacies, the red line bus, and the first stop for the Quito Hop on, Hop off Bus tour. There were not so many local restuarants in the neighborhood, but the hotel restaurant was quite good and reasonably priced. The staff was almost univesally excellent, helping us with the Tren tou...

I'm torn writing this review. I like the hotel. It's a very nice building, the staff are great, and the room in general is fine. However, the room was freezing cold at night when I was there and there is no central heat or air. The second night the staff provided a space heater, which worked well, but still, the room was so cold until the space heater got going.

This hotel is located in a great area for exploring historical sites. Just a block from the main square, it is difficult to locate parking. The hotel alleviates this problem by providing a secured car park right next to the hotel. The rooms are large, but can be loud if facing the street. A bathtub is provided, but no plugs. Lighting is extremely dim, so reading (even ...

This new hotel is beautiful and they do everything to try to make your stay a happy one. Some downsides which they will most likely fix soon: Spa was not built yet as of our early July 2018 stay... although the website did not mention that back when we booked 4 months prior. No big deal. It will likely be a great spa. The room keys stopped working prematurely d...

We enjoyed our stay here and would always recommend staying here. The hot pools are amazing and we often had them to ourselves. There were massive queues at the public part of the springs, so we stayed in the hotel area only. Great little walk from behind the hotel along a stream up the hill. Rooms overly basic for the price. Great location in the mountains, but requir...

We highly recommend staying here. The hostel is located in a charming street near the train station. We were positively surprised by the room, which was modern and stylish. The owner is a warm and kind man, and he helped us with whatever we needed. We loved the delicious breakfast that was prepared just for us. We would definitely stay here again.

The Oro Verde has the best hotel facilities in Guayaquil. We stayed in a King business suite, relatively inexpensive on Agoda. This was our 2nd excellent stay. We arrived before our Galapagos tour group and stayed and extra day after they left. The gym is great. There’s a steam room, sauna, hot tub and cold plunge in each locker room in addition to the outdoor pool ( ...

I had a great stay here. The hotel looks amazing, and the view of the ocean is as well. It had a unique design with some rooms being below the lobby level, as the hotel is basically built into the side of a cliff. The ocean view room I had was very spacious and clean. The staff was helpful and friendly, too. The plaza also has many bars and clubs with great music ...

Good location. Friendly staff. Though the 15-18sqm suite is very expensive, the hotel is quite obviously very stingy. We always stay at 4-5 stars hotels, but have never paid so much money for so little before. Breakfast is limited. No wifi in certain areas. One bottle of water for entire stay. No mini bar. Cheap out-of-place wardrobe too narrow for hangers. Will defini...

Upon entering the room, was knocked out by horrible mildew-like smell (I was told by one staff member that it was a cleaning solution and by another it was simply moisture & wood...in any event it smelled horrible the entire time). Also, it looks like such a peaceful location from the pictures, but nope, room was right next to a major highway. So there was the whif...

In all of Ecuador and Peru this was the worst hotel we have booked so far. For the money (we booked a double room) expect a small, basic room, kind if modern with no frills. Nw we don't ind no frills but in Ecuador you can do get similar for less money, or much more for a similar price! Our room had a sewage smell permeate through it our entire stay coming from th...

Very relaxing stay and the staff were super helpful. Nice and clean rooms and surroundings. The path from the pier to the hotel can be a little dark in certain areas at night so more lights may be better. Nevertheless, didn't once feel that it was unsafe even when walking around at night.
