Hotel was nice and clean, the staff was very nice and helpfull. Coffee and tee given in the room. We had a large flat with 2 bathrooms and a washing machine wich is handy. The location is not the best but mot very bad either and the taxy in there is very cheap, to get to the center of Bucharest we used to pay the equivalent of 2 pounds. Masive Carefour shopping center close to the hotel.

We very much enjoyed staying in Unirea Hotel. The staff is professional, breakfast was of high standard, and our room had an amazing view. They even packed for us a breakfast since we had to leave early, which was very appreciated. What we liked less was the spa. The process was a bit heavy if you just want to dip in the pool for a bit. The bracelets, keys, and swimming caps were not necessary. We have been to many places like this but have never been asked to wear a swimming cap. Also, the massage menu had too many options and it actually made us avoid doing this.

Iconic hotel for the capital of Romania - even if the rooms are not ultra-modern, it retains the charm of old luxury. Impeccable cleanliness and comfort - in the room there is water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate (free). The acces at the spa is free - not crowded during the period visited. Breakfast at Corso Brasserie fabulous - both the quality of the food and the general atmosphere. Very well trained staff - rarer thing in Romania. In total over other 5-star hotels - especially due to the atmosphere and the staff.

The hotel is in a great location close to everything we needed. The rooms are huge and immaculately clean. The food was lovely and the choices were great for breakfast and in the restaurants. The hotel history is super exciting and it hosts numerous famous faces! The highlight for me had to be the staff. All were great but in particular the head concierge was so helpful and knowledgeable and called tour operators and booked trips for us, as well as helping guide us around the town. Secondly, Daniella who works late in the English bar was so lovely, I cannot praise her enough. She is always smiling and happy and we had a few nice evenings in the bar having a giggle and hearing stories about the hotel history. She is a credit to the hotel! I would highly recommend. Also the spa is lovely!

I've stayed here lots of times; having worked in Bucharest for 18 months. If you smile or talk to the staff they respond fantastically, but then I've always found Romanians are among the freindliest and helpfull people around (well maybe not to each other but to non Romanians!!). The hotel is in a great location right in the centre of town; within walking distance to the two main nighttime areas. Taxi's are pretty cheap as well (as long as you get a real one; not one of those from Baneasa airport (the low cost airport) which can rip you off... The real ones have the prices on the door and will be around 1.5 to 2.0 lei per km. Better cars are more. 99% of Taxi's are OK The rack rate of the hotel is high but you should be able to get a decent rate through the agoda if you book in advance.

The hotel was arranged through Viking Cruise Lines and check-in was a breeze, taking only a few minutes. The room was very clean, bed comfortable, and pillows easy to sleep on. The bathroom had an abundance of toiletries, which were restocked the very next day. Check-out was also hassle-free and if necessary, the bell hops will hold your luggage. Great job Sofitel, and Viking. Location-wise, the hotel is perfectly situated near the Chain Bridge, and a block away from the car-free pedestrian and shopping zone. This was very nice, as bars and restaurants were plentiful in this zone. The parliament is a short 10 minute walk along no the Danube and the concierge can arrange timed tickets for entry via the hotel booking computer....a big time saver. There is a pharmacy directly across the street. Our literature from Viking related not to trust the cabs sitting outside the hotel. We were expecting a bit more, but overall it was not a bad experience. The staff spoke the best english I`ve heard in transyvlvania, room was spacious, cleaning was great and respectfull, breakfast plentifull. It is a good hotel for business travellers. Wifi is also free, though you need to log in every 24 hours which was a bit annoying after staying in smaller county towns where it was accesable without such limitations. We had a bit of an issue with the temperature. It needs quite some time to heat up, max 27 degrees will get you something around 21-24, depending on where the meter is placed. First night it didn`t have time to heat up, since we arrived around 8 and it felt a bit cold, while the sheets were extremely insulating. After weaking up sweating, but still feeling room temperature cold, we were more prepared the next night. Left the termometer on during the day and slept with sheets only, that did the trick. This was on the first floor where you get the least sun so it might be different on other floors, poor receptionist seemed to be familiar with the issue, when we asked if there is a trick to the termometer, but it`s not like they can build a fire in the room to solve the problem :) However while I do realise that requests in a booking are always subject to availability and I never count on them, putting a couple requesting high floor since they`re on honeymoon to a connecting handycapped room is not something I would expect Hilton to do. The room was absolutely fine, we made a joke about it and I even believe that we had no neighbours for we never heard anyone, but the lack of small attentivnesses such as this is why in the end we felt that it was only OK.

Overall it was a nice stay for one night. The only dissadvantage was that their computers are not linked together, making me wait for the airport shuttle i requested through my agoda booking. I had to telephone at the hotel to let them know i have a reservation for that night and that i`m still waiting for them to pick me up. In the end, they sorted out everything, but this could have been avoided in the first place if they were more careful. For a 4 star hotel this should be inacceptable.

i think this hotel was the best choice i made with my spending in romania. it's located in the heart of the old town street full of night life and good restaurants and mall district. tons of things to see and meet cool people. the receoptionists are very kind and helpful. plus they are very cute as well. the price is also very resonable not more than 60usd per night with discount. so try it out and you will love it

From booking in and the welcome from the door to the farewell and taxi to the Airport, NOTHING was to large or small in the enjoyment of the stay. And WOW the "Handy" phone was brilliant, even if only as a GPS map guide to get you home on the walks around the hotel and city. What was also great the room although on the street side was so quite, OK not a lot of road noise outside but "0" inside. The Bisto was well served and stocked. BREAKFAST and the choice fantastic. Would I recommend? YES

it wasn't a problem for me, but doubletree is a little off the beaten track - a good 20 minute walk to the main square and old town. a tram stops right outside the hotel though, and although i never used it as i'm happy walking, i'm sure this would get you there easily and very cheaply. this hotel is immaculate! very clean and tidy. but what really sets it apart is the quality of the staff. it's obvious that every single member of staff has been well trained - very attentive but not in your face. i used the restaurant and room service and the food was excellent both times with very good service i've seen some reports of rooms suffering from road noise, but i was allocated a room that was main street facing (albeit on 5th floor) and it was extremely quiet.

This Hotel is much better inside than it looks from the outside.It has been well refurbished. Both checking in and out was quick and efficient. The decor is apppealing both in the public areas and throughout the hotel. We only had breakfast - there was a good choice of hot and cold food. Sadly no tea/coffee making facilities in the room but there was a well stocked mini bar. The major disappointment was the heating in the room. The temperature was a constant 28C and the only conrol was an open window all day and night. Being in the city meant we heard all the sirens day and night despite being on the 11th Floor - a non smoking quiet room!

The room was very nice with all the features you would want, although it wasn't much bigger than the standard room size for a big city. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside was the location. It was about 15 minute walk to the nearest subway stop and about 20 minutes to the start of Old Town. Normally this isn't a problem, because we like to walk, but the first 5 minutes of the walk is through not the best neighborhood and makes you look over your shoulder when walking there at night.

We had to change our plans at the last minute and the Knonwell and its staff turned our problems into silver linings. The hotel is superb in every way, the rooms are large and extremely comfortable, the bed was fantastic! We had dinner at the restaurant, food and service 5*. The Reception staffs went above and beyond their roles to assist us - booking a car and driver with less than 12 hours notice to ensure we were able to go to Bran Castle was greatly appreciated. The young man who came to the train station to help us to book our tickets so we could board our ship the following day was amazing. Anyone going to Braşov should definitely stay at this hotel!

one of two better hotels on/near piata unirii (together with traian). staff was nice. breakfast was not very rich, but only for the first sight. only cold meals were served directly on the servicing table. hot meals are ordered from menu (without any additional charge). price for hotel corresponded with quality, but you can find a cheaper hotel in town surely, if you sacrifice some of your claims. try tne hotel restaurant!
