Amazing Experience”
This Hostel is an amazing deal and the people that work there are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the area. I would Highly recommend this hostel to anyone traveling to Nagano. Also, the sleeping arrangements are quite comfortable and the actual hostel is a very quaint traditional building, which only adds to the overall charm. Will definitely stay again if I return to Nagano (which I probably will, even if only to get more Soba).

Great Hostel in Traditional Japanese Home”
The location just can’t be beat! Right next to Nagano’s beautiful temple and historic district. The town is absolutely charming. DOT Hostel Nagano was a great place to stay and meet fellow travelers! The house is beautiful and fairly original and staff were very kind.

Awesome experience as solo traveller!!!”
Location is a bit of a walk from Nagano station but of course bus or bike is always an option. Despite of that the hostel is super near Zenkoji temple. Had multiple walks through the temple which was great. Host and the staff are super friendly and helpful. They gave many advises and also stayed up to chat with the travellers (oops sorry, we were super happy so couldn't sleep). Went to Togakushi for a day (highly recommend to walk through the long route to the furthest pond and also the ninja maze was superb!!!! Met many like minded travellers there..the room is both super cozy and lively. Drinks available at the bar so we all gathered at the lounge sometimes for dinner and chat session.. House was old but very well maintained and has a really nice traditional feel to it. Highly recommend to all solo travellers or couples (private rooms available) as well as family (this too!!!).

Central and social hostel”
I enjoyed my time at the DOT Nagano hostel immensely. The owner Nao is really cool and helpful and the staff were all super awesome people. It's located a three minute walk from the Zenkoji temple and very easy to get to by bus from the station if you don't wanna take the 20 min walk. It's a small and social place.

Lovely place ”
It is a bit of walking from the Nagano station to this guesthouse, about 20+ min depending on your speed, I remember that’s about thee amount of time it took, but its very close to the famous temple and the streets nearby. It’s a very cozy place and I really like both the dorm room and the ‘living room’, both are spacious and has a very cozy feeling to it. There are six big beds in my dorm room which i think is a good number, and i feel comfortable in my bunk. Staff are friendly and helpful too.

It is 20mins walk or 10mins by tram from Nagano station, the tram is totally a pain to take as there's only stairs to go up and down, and I was with my snowboard bag and suitcase, trust me it was a terrible experience. But the owner told me to take the bus the next day when I check out, it saved my life totally!!! The place is small and in a quiet neighborhood, the room was ok but there should be more hangers, there is only 1 sink, 1 toilet and 1 bathroom in the whole hostel, ready to wait for bit, no oil no sauce and spices in the shared kitchen, it's equipped but you cant really cook. I would recommend staying in somewhere closer to the Nagano station, it is more less the same price and slightly better equipped..

Truely felt like home ”
I really enjoyed my stay here as this hostel really made you feel like you were at home. Great kitchen with everything one could need, terrific cozy lounge space perfect for meeting and catching up with other travellers. Very comfy, warm and private beds in the dorm rooms. Staff and owner are also fantastic, not only great for a chat but helping you with any request you might have. Keep in mind it is about two kilometres from the main station area but I enjoyed the walk and the local bus was super easy to use when I had my large backpack.

An old house transformated in a youth hostel, it's great ! 2 minutes from the main temple and the main street with buses to the train station. The owner is very nice and will help you with whatever you need. We also met a lot of nice people over dinner (the kitchen is well furnished). The room is clean but you should bring earplug because the isolation isn't very strong. We spent 2 nights there and we loved it, we really recommend this place !

The hostel is very well situated close to the famous Zenkoji temple and in a walking distance of restaurants, shops and bus stops. Beds are really comfortable and the kitchen is great if you want to cook by yourself. Tea and coffee are free as well as breakfast. Staff is very friendly and gave me a nice recommendation about a great Onsen. Highly recommended!

The staff was very helpful and unlike other hostels, were flexible with my check-in time due to a slightly late arrival after their closing time. The wooden floors creak, so you have to be mindful when walking to not make so much noise. The downside is, there's only 1 bathroom and 1 toilet; so it gets challenging if you really need to use the toilet and there's someone inside, so bear that in mind. Other than that, everything was good, they even provide 2 slices of toast for breakfast.

The staff were really nice and they spoke very good english. Its location was very close to a famous temple and a main street. There was a festival during the days i stayed there so i really enjoyed it. The owner was a fan of japanese sale as i can remember so if you like sake too this hostel might be the choice for u. However, the sound proof in the hostel was so bad and the door of the bathroom was translucent through which ppl outside can look inside of it :((

Great place to see Nagano”
The location of the hostel is pretty far from most of the things but very close to a very nice shrine where you can do morning ceremony with the monks. the staff were super helpful and the owner was very nice and wanted to know a lot about his guests.

Nice people but no sleep”
It’s cheap and you get what you pay for. Since the rooms are actually open at the ceiling you can hear even the snoring of the people two rooms away. Ear plugs help, but you can also feel every movement since it’s an old Japanese house. The whole place feels like it’s falling apart. Only one toilet and shower for the whole hostel is definitely not enough. The atmosphere was nice, but I’m paying for a place to sleep and that’s what I didn’t get at this place: sleep.

A lot of dust. ”
I stayed in the single room. The rooms do not have ceiling, only the common roof and the walls do not reach the top. All the noise in any room was heard. Tonight someone cooked in the kitchen, all my clothes smell. It was like sleeping with the lights on.

Nice atmosphere ”
I’ll definitely stay here again. Staff is kind and helpful, they all like travel and host travelers, they are eager to learn about everything and share what they know. 2 minutes to the main tourist spots. Laundry, Kitchen... all facilities I needed in a traditional house that has been turned up into a cozy place.
