Good place to stay”
I stayed in Kyoto for one night only. I arrived to Kyoto late and the hotel was so good that they sent me an email to teach me how to check-in myself. Everything in the hotel is good. Both capsule (inc. bed sheet), shower room, toilet are clean and comfortable. Especially the capsule is spacious enough. If you are a backpacker, you must love it. But the only concern is the hotel is not near to any JR station. But there are Kyoto metro stations and bus stops. Overall, it is a worth-stayed hotel as the cost is excellent.

Quite far away from Kyoto JR Station. But you can still get to here by bus and metro. This hostel is cheap in price and it's the biggest virtue. And it's tidy and neat. But some guests made the pantry (opened area) not that clean. It's my largest concern. But overall it's a good place to stay, especially the capsule is spacious enough.

PRICE NOT INCLUDE CITY TAX, but good place”
Price not inclusive of city tax (200Y/person/day). shoes stored at entrance on rack. both floors have microwave, sink, utensils, plates, laundry (1 washer 1 dryer per floor). Medium fridge near reception. Complimentary tea and coffee. staff use washer and dryer during part of day. 3 sinks, 2 showers, one including a small square bath, 2 toilets all on both floors. Showers aren't cramped, capsules very spacious. eating area on upper floor, and smoking area outside. 4 coathanger holders in each capsule and a common rack for storing other clothes. Kitchen between toilets/stairs and capsules - annoying. Nowhere to place toiletries at sink. Ample hangers in shower. Kitchen narrow. Generally did not feel cramped unless multiple people using kitchen. Socialisation natural at eating spaces. Ladders to upper bunks not affixed to anything - relies on friction. Handles exist to help on upper bunks. Staff are european - I heard spanish, french, german and english.

Excellent”
After backpacking for a few weeks and staying on mediocre beds, this was such a welcome surprise. The beds are top notch, and our shared capsule was very cool. The staff are only part time as they can stay for free if they work there. But the people we met were nice enough. There is not a lot of space, you’re really on top of each other and there’s no common space aside from a hallway converted to have chairs in it. Also, the only way up to hostel is through a slightly sketchy elevator. Also, there is a charge for everything, towels, ear plugs etc. This review is starting to sound negative but my experience was overall very positive. I would recommend this place. The location is incredible, the beds are great and it was very clean.

Beautiful place”
We are couple on honeymoon. We fell in love with the place the moment we were there. Cosy hostel with minimalistic design. Very clever use of space. The sleeping area is comfortable and spacious. It doesn’t feel at all castrophobia. Location is near subway, Nishiki Market, Ippudo, Starbucks etc. If not for the price, we might stay for another few more nights. Staffs are friendly. They allowed us to leave our bags there while we went on our day before check in at 3pm. There was no limitation of what time you can shower which is great. I slept soundly through the night peacefully.

Cheap place for solo traveler”
This place is one of the cheapest place in Kyoto but not the best one. As a hostel, I expected that there should be one public for using computer but only very small space to have a cup of tea...

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Loved the pod bed, felt like I had my own little room. Great facilities as well, laundry room and a simple kitchen area on both floors, very clean throughout and staff were really nice.

Perfect for privacy or meeting other travellers”
In the capsule beds you have plenty of space to have your own privacy or meet other travellers in the kitchen area. The common area is not that big and unfortunately they don't have a stove to make your own food, but there are plenty of good restaurants around or a 7/11 and a microwave to use. The volunteers are super nice, but there was a new person behind the reception every day which can be a bit inconvenient.

Super friendly staff. Location is a bit sbout 3 blocks from Shijo train station, but very near the bus stops. Hotel is located at 6F of the building. The buildings elevator lobby is unlighted at night.. and is a bit weird especially if you are waiting for the elevator to come down.

Very comfortable!”
The sleeping quarters were very comfortable and accommodating. They had international plugs and usb in the wall as well which was very helpful. There was plenty of space for your belongings and the beds and covers were very comfortable. The staff was all on work away and they were very nice and helpful.

Doesn't help Japanese economy, I don't recommend this hostel.”
This hostel is OK but I don't like the fact that the boss (not Japanese) employs only foreigners on volunteering programs... I find it unethical because all the money goes in their pockets directly... !!! they should employ a real Japanese staff or immigrant but who have a real salary and job. Moreover there is no real cosy common parts, it's fine just to sleep and have a quick lunch but don't expect being able to hang out to read a book or talk to people outside the dorm. So for the price and this situation I would not go back I think there is plenty of better option to help Japanese economy and people!!! + They didn't really try to help a friend that had blocked a locker and made him have to stay 2 more nights, when it could have been delt with in a couple of hours...

Great Staff, Tiny Hostel, Hot Capsules. ”
Brilliant, Friendly, Happy Staff. Tiny galley kitchen cum corridor to shower area. Annoyingly everyone dumps their shoes on the floor, reducing space even further. Get some proper shoe racks. Hostel capsules were really hot and stuffy. Good location, 10mins to metro, 25mins to Nijo Castle by foot. Bike rental available. Awesome showers really powerful. No real social area.

The hostel is clean, your bed is spacious and come with a locker (the hostel does not provide lock). Other than that you need to pay 500 Yen for late check in and the hostel only leave you a note at the counter.

Great place. The capsules were super comfortable and the showers were clean and functional. It's a small place and the common areas could've been better. Then again, it was so cheap that I was perfectly happy with it as it was.
