Very bad experience”

Our shoes got stolen in the common area. Dismissive lady owner, busy making sure we would not make that her problem. Communications through google translate. No display of concerns, no help with reporting the case. Suggested we'd check if we had an insurance. Reluctant to ask the guests that just left if they had mistakenly taken our shoes (although no alternative shoes were left and it did look like it was a genuine case of theft). The description advertised a breakfast she could not provide due to missing staff. All in all, I strongly advise to pass on that pension, there seems to be plenty other options.

Perfect Stay!”

Stayed at Aigakusou for 7 nights in the quadruple room - room was spacious, clean and cosy. Host was very kind and helpful and even offered us wine / produce from her own farm. There’s a drying room and some racks available to keep your equipments. Shower area includes mini hot tub, perfect for après ski. You can also opt in for breakfast option at 1000yen; it alternates between Japanese and western cuisine every other day, portion size is good and very delicious. Short 10-15 mins walk to ski rental and chair lifts, as well as Main Street. All in all, super convenient and had a lovely stay. Will definitely be back!

Budget ryokan with great breakfasts!”

Things we loved: the clean, simple rooms, the amazing breakfasts, kind hosts, quiet location. Things we didn’t love: there’s only one shower area which can get busy and uncomfortable, the rooms are thinly insulated so you can hear conversations clearly happening in adjacent rooms. On two occasions we were awoken by our neighbors coming home and chatting- they weren’t being rowdy, but we could hear everything they were saying. Bring ear plugs! Also, I’d recommend you bring your own slippers to wear Around the hotel. Overall, a nice stay and the breakfast was amazing. I loved the location- it’s a bit of a walk from the center of town but I liked how much quieter our area was.

Would highly recommend”

Great location - easy walk into the town centre and to the snow. Short walk from the Onsen-Liner bus - get off at the Shinden stop and head up the hill and right. All facilities excellent - drying room, common room etc. Only 1 shower for each gender but everyone using onsen's so not a problem. Fantastic breakfasts.
