Nice hotel in great surroundings ”
There aren't that many places to stay around Doi Ang Khang and the Angkhang Nature Resort is probably the best. We were greeted by a friendly english-speaking receptionist who checked us in quickly and efficiently and we were taken to our room on a tuc tuc-type vehicle. So far so good. However, the double room I'd requested and had confirmed was actually a twin with two single beds. When I complained I was told that there were few doubles available and they were all taken. So as a compromise, the two singles were pushed together and made-up. Not ideal because there was then no suitable bed linen and the controls for the electric blankets were in the middle of the two beds. This type of mis-selling of double rooms seems to be widespread in Thailand and I would get emailed confirmation if this was an absolute must for you. There was also only one breakfast allotted and the hotel tried to charge me for the extra one. Why this should be the case when a double room is booked, I've no idea, but the staff eventually waived it, mainly due to the mix up with the room. Something else to watch for. However, the room was big and airy with a great view of the Myanmar mountains and it was quiet. Water was provided and there was a flatscreen TV, albeit without any english channels. The little town of Ban Koom is a five minute walk and is a fascinating place to look around and to shop for local products. It also had several places to eat but we didn't try any. We were wildlife watching and most of the birds and animals were within a short drive. The scenery is fabulous. There was air conditioning available in the rooms but the nights were cool and it wasn't needed. The breakfast provided was fine with the typical buffet food available but also freshly cooked omelettes etc. We ate in the restaurant at night and the food was very good and not too expensive.

Natural beauty”
For something different to do in Thailand you can't beat a trip to Doi Ang Khang and a stay till the nature resort. The journey there is breath taking up step mountain roads and the location is just stunning. The hotel is lovely, almost a Swiss chalet feel and full of Thais getting a feel for the cold air of the mountains. The 'Camellia'restaurant serves produce grown in the the royal agricultural station and is delicious. Fantastic value all round.

Good location and natural-looking wood chalets”
We virtually had the whole place to ourselves because it was the low season (August). Very peaceful like a jungle lodge except with 5-star hotel rooms. The hotel also very kindly upgraded us to a garden-view room upon our arrival - how nice! We had a problem with the water supply in the bathroom - it constantly gave us buzzy, tingly little electric shocks. They sent the maintenance man over to check it and 15 minutes later we were transferred to another room. Very efficient. The front desk staff (Ms. Som Jai to be more precise) was wonderful in advising us on what to do on Doi Angkhang, always in an advisory role. She also arranged the tour for us and also our transport back to the main Fang-Chiangmai road, even trying to book a minivan from there for us (unfortunately, they were fully-booked ... or so they said ...). We also had an enjoyable time with our driver cum tour guide, Mr. Pong who also leads guests on mountain treks. Although he speaks only a smattering of English, we had fun gesticulating and playing charades! Pong is cheerful and enthusiastic. If they can keep up their service level during the peak season, I'd say choose this place for a hassle-free stay if your funds permit!

Hotel with good service & beauty environment”
The service is great, the receptionist is very friendly, arrangement of small truck to pick up our luggage & send us up to our apartment front door, and same when we check out the small truck pick up our luggage & send us to our vehicle. The room is very clean and big and comfortable, we book 4 rooms on Jan 2012, they given us the whole apartment with 4 rooms’ link in one building, to our surprise, all 4 rooms with link doors can be all open, so we are stay at 4 rooms just like one big room; with the temperature at night almost at zero degree, all the beds come with heater, it really warm us for the whole night; for the 4 room, only 2 rooms come with the bathtub. The hotel environment is good, with mountain view & good landscape with planted flowers & trees. After check out for 2 hours, my brother realise that he left his back bag inside the toilet when we rush for check out, we went back to the resort, the receptionist call the house keeper to send the back bag to the hotel front desk, my brother was so happy that he thought he will lose all his nutrition foods inside the back bag. The location is good, with 5 minutes drive to reach the main attraction Royal Angkhang agricultural station. Breakfast is great with many choices, we took our dinner at the resort restaurant, the food is nice with reasonable price and the service is good, there is nothing much we can do at night except drinking at the restaurant. I think it is good value to stay at this resort.

Enjoyed it...right next to Royal Project grounds”
"Exciting" drive to get there, but it resulted in a delightful, beautiful, cool getaway to enjoy the Doi Ang Khang Royal Project right next door. I would not pay full price for the rooms, but the half price special I found made it very affordable.

Lovely resort with friendly service”
The room is big and facility is reasonable considering the remote location of the resort. Very beautiful natural garden setup located next to the Royal Agricutural Station Angkhang. The best time to stay is from December to February. Temperature could be as low as close to zero degree in the early morning.

Quiet and peaceful with small but clean rooms”
we stayed at the hotel with our two small kids in two adjoining rooms. the cabins are cute and clean, if a little small. breakfast was good, but the rest of the menu was a bit limited until we realized they were more than willing to make things not on the menu (ie. sandwiches and our kids' favorite thai dishes). the staff was very friendly--when we asked to rent a dvd player, one of the employees ran home to get one of his kid's tom and jerry dvds for us since the hotel didn't have any kid flicks on hand. they also let us check out quite late at no cost. everyone at the hotel was similarly helpful and accommodating. the location is very idyllic--not much of a party scene (obviously) but great for some peace and quiet. the kids had a great time running around the nearby villages with the local kids, and the stars at night were amazing. the royal agricultural project next to the resort is also definitely worth checking out. one note--it is called a "nature" resort, which means you are surrounded by all sorts of creepy crawlies, as well as beautiful flowers and plants of all stripes. you may want to stock up on mosquito spray before you come. we didn't have a problem in the room, but there were quite a few outside in the evening.

Doi Angkhang Nature Resort”
Doi Angkhang is an area of unspoilt beauty and has a lot of interesting different hilltribe people living around near the hotel. There is a small group of shops and restaurants near the hotel if you fancy a quick bowl of noodles. The trek to the mountain is excellent and an easy to follow trail. The hotel is well worth staying in and if you want to escape the heat of Chiang Mai or elsewhere it is the place to go.

Good loaction in Doi Angkhang”
The resort is situated next to the gate of DOI Angkhang. The room quit simple but work well. Nonaircon but heater blanket are available with a comfortable bed set. Enjoy to rest in the room. However, food not much choice and not test like what we expected. We have to walk and get a good food available in the market in front of the gate of King project. Except that things are OK for a short moment.

Mostly excellent but weak WIFI”
My stay at Angkhang Nature Resort was very nice in most every way with one exception. The WIFI signal was very weak and after inquiring from my room phone to the front desk, not much improvement was made... which led me to believe that the improvement involved cutting staff back on their usage somewhat.. although I'm not sure. In part, I based my booking on their having a strong signal as advertised. However, everything else was well up to standard, including a strong hot water shower and the overall interior design and appointment.

Lovely and nice services”
Starting from the first step, there was a warm welcome on the cooling day of weather in Doi Ang Khang where the buggy driver and the concierge staffs are very helpful to provide the closed assistance to the elderly. There are many zone of accommodation and every zone is easy to access. If you have kids or old folk travelling with you, you can just press "0" and asking for inner transport from your room to the lobby. Breakfast was very fantastic where all fresh vegetable and fruit are being sent directly from the royal project next door. However, it was lack of staff to provide great service of setting dinning table for us as it was the Christmas time.

Great location and comfort room”
The hotel is very good when compare with other hotel at Ang khang. The service is good. Breakfast and dinner is good and not expensive. The hotel opened for many years but everything in the room is in a good condition. Facilities in the room are good. You don't need an air conditioned here, it is very cold at night.

Excellent place for families with children”
My wife and I along with our two girls stayed at the resort in August 2014. The staff of the hotel is very helpful. The meals are excellent overall with some unusual touches (e.g., a sauce made of fruits, fruit juice and hot peppers for tempura). Western/American and Thai breakfasts were both excellent. The fellow who cooks the eggs and other breakfast items is a wonderful cook and very helpful. The area is astonishingly beautiful. The nature trails (outside of the Royal Project) are easy to find, easy to traverse, beautiful and full of helpful signs about flora (in Thai and English). The gardens of the Royal Project are beautiful and the food in the restaurant is excellent. I believe that the hotel has a pick-up service from the Chiang Rai airport, though we did not use it. The drive to the resort is not easy but the road is safe. Overall a great place for a vacation. The rooms themselves are large, immaculate, and well laid out. We had adjoining cabins -- one cabin for Mom and Dad, the other for our kids.

Ang Khang Nature Resort is always a well maintained hotel amongst nature. My 4th visit. Unfortunately during off peak season the gardens and surrounding are not upkept.

beautiful location in a nature preserve near the burma border. quite, tranquil, perfect for a meditative and relaxing nature lover's experience. staff are helpful, rooms are excellent. good food and reasonably priced on site. breakfast was included. i really enjoyed the peacefulness of it all. 3-4 hour drive from chiang mai. bus or hotel organized transport is possible. i rented a car and it was fine. gave me freedom to travel. no need for a 4 wheel drive. nice for a couple, solo or family who love nature and a beak from the city. will come agin and recommend to others.

Beautiful Location and Nice Room”
This is a very nice property that has a great natural setting. It does take some walking to and from the rooms and that could be an issue with some travelers. The rooms are very nice with all the features you need. The internet worked well and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was well done. The restaurant served very good food which is a plus seeing that the other options in this area are limited. The hotel has shown a great deal of wear since we were last here three years ago. It would be recommended that some cleaning and fresh paint be applied. Would suppose that if you plan a visit here you will be aware of the length and type of drive you will be making from Chiang Mai. If not then you need to get this information and decide if you want to do the trip. Definitely not recommended for small cars or vehicles with a lot of passengers and luggage as the hills are very steep and extremely winding.
