Excellent”
It is a nice and cozy place with helpful staff! Shops, restaurants and Supermarts are within short walking distance~ Except for the no lift access in the hotel, it was an enjoyable stay with Argyll Western Hotel!

Great find.”
Only there for one night and very comfortable. Great location in Glasgows West end and less than 5 mins walk from the Botanical Gardens and Byers Road. Nice big and comfortable rooms. Good WiFi.

All Too Small Bar the Breakfast”
Ok, so we asked for a quiet room and it was. This shouldn’t need to come at the price of a room with so little space that it was difficult to pass the end of the (uncomfortable) bed without dislodging the wall mounted TV. I apologise for stooping (something you couldn’t do in the tiny shower) so low, but it was impossible to sit on the toilet with the bathroom door closed. There was not room to bend down to wet my face to shave. This was not compact and bijou, Mostyn; it was cramped. The towels (only one set provided) were dire; barely large enough to wrap around a not particularly huge waist, and not too far shy of threadbare. It was, however, quiet. The hotel is perfectly situated for the West End and university, the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. But unless you are intending to spend your trip to Glasgow in a state of such drunkenness that you don’t notice the room, find somewhere else.

Exceptional”
We were very pleased with this small hotel, we normally stay at the larger hotels in the City Centre but thought we would give this one a go and were pleased that we did. We were in the area to catch up with friends, but had we been tourists we would have been delighted with the location, good for restaurants, bars, places of interest and of course good public transport into the city Centre. Enjoyed our nice cooked breakfast, you couldn't have asked for nicer service. The staff were so welcoming. Will most certainly be back.

Different days, different staff: different experience”
Hotel is in a very good location, very clean rooms and excellent breakfast (with a slightly slow service at 9am Sunday morning as they were busy). Where they need to improve is the reception staff. On Saturday, Azam couldn't have been more welcoming. Offered me a later check-out at no charge and made sure my room was ready (despite me arriving earlier than planned). Superb. Sunday morning was a different story. A totally disinterested chap on reception asked for my room number, what I wanted for a cooked breakfast - and that was it. I told him about my late check-out but this didn't seem to register. He was nowhere to be seen through breakfast service either. At 11.20, he phoned my room telling me that I was late checking out. I reminded him of my agreed midday check-out time whereby grunted something inaudible and hung up. When I actually checked out, it took him over a minute to break away from looking at his mobile phone. He didn't utter a single word. Not even eye contact . Poor

Disappointing experience ”
First my booking cane apparently through as 3 people instead of 4 . Therefore we were missing one bed, but a sofa bed was quickly added while we were waiting outside the room. Unfortunately the room hadn’t been hovered properly and was smelling quite bad. The smell never went away for the time we spent there. After complaining about the room and the smell of it ( confirmed by one of their staff) , I was offered a second room which was magically cancelled shortly before by someone else and had only a double bed. So 2 of us could stay in the not smelly room. The room was ok, quite cold to start with but got heated quite quickly. However we found some left behind pyjamas from a previous customer in one of the drawers. They had clearly been worn by the look of it and not found when the room was cleaned. Breakfast was really disappointing and looked more like a canteen. Food was not cooked to order. Cereals in portion boxes and some of the Cornflakes had expired to my surprise.

Extremely good hotel. The Argyll hotel is located in the west end of Glasgow. There are plenty of good restaurants, parks and bars near the hotel. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The free breakfast is really good. I will definitely be returning again.

Disappointing ”
Could be a decent budget hotel but let down by the unfriendly and unhelpful staff. General lack of cleanliness and in need of some decor update. Looks well presented on the outside but needs to be followed through the hotel.
