Amazing hostel!”
It was great to stay in Baan Bua Homestay! The dormitory was a room with only 2 single beds which felt like a private room. The place was confortable and clean, and it has a perfect location near to the Bus Terminal and Night Bazar. Drink water is provided as well. The receptionist was super friendly and helpful, thanks to her I could easily go to the temples by public transportation. So everything was perfect! (:

Excellent”
Really nice hostel about 5-10 minute walk from the night bazaar and bus station. Clean property, through there was a slight weird smell in the bathroom (which is not in the room, it’s separate). Shower pressure needs to be lower than maximum for hot water to come through. Bed was comfortable. Towels and soaps were provided. Note that the walls are very thin so all noise from the outside can be heard very easily. Wifi in all property, though not very fast. Host was very accommodating and helped us book our slow boat ticket for Laos. Free water on-site.

Colorful Place”
Clean and well maintained. Staff friendly. Included breakfast was quite basic: bread, toaster, sometimes butter, marmalade and banana/watermelon. Also had coffee. Slept well here. Doorways quite low if you are tall. Bathroom is partially uncovered so important to keep door closed to room to prevent flies. Expected it to be cold taking showers, but was not a problem. Enjoyable stay.

Nice homestay in a very central location”
Great location. Has a fridge and air-con. The host is super nice. Only downside: cleanliness could be improved and our bathroom was constantly flooded.

Nice Stay”
The house is really cute, located in a quiet street and the rooms are fine. There is a private bathroom but you have to walk across the hallway. It's fine though. Breakfast consists of toast, pineapple jam, fruit and instant coffee. In the direction of the bus terminal the area is touristy and not so nice. In the other direction its more local.

Very good”
This was a nice stay, good value for money 🙂 really colorful and it has nice terrace. They allowed me to check in earlier because I arrived at 8 am in Chiang Rai. Nice location, you can do everything by walk from there and it's in quiet street. Would go again ☺️

Adorable hotel with lovely owners”
I cannot say enough good things about Baan Bua Homestay. I stayed here for 2 nights at the recommendation of a friend who lives in Chiang Rai and I was so torn each day between sightseeing and never ever wanting to leave this adorable little home away from home. Free waters in the room, wifi, and television on the ground floor rooms. So clean that you could eat off the floor, and right around the corner from the bus station, tons of restaurants, bars, the clock tower, etc. The best part of my stay was the service though. Nothing was too much work for them, and they made me feel so welcome and comfortable. I don't understand why, at USD a night, anyone would stay anywhere else. Just wonderful. Thanks Baan Bua Homestay!!

the moment you step in you think: yes!”
We spent 4 nights at the Baan Bua Homestay and it was hard to leave. We really felt like we were at home. Nice common areas, lovely rooms, super comfortable beds, clean toilets, clean towels every day, good basic breakfast, everything was nice and cozy, and staff were always smiling and ready to help. The location cannot get better. Super central location, yet in one minute by foot (one minute!) you are in this lovely quiet street where you can have a nice rest away from the street noise. If you want to party a little or have a few drinks, everything is around the corner. We wished we had found more guest houses like this one while traveling. If we ever go back to Chiang Rai, that will be our place.

Great location, quiet and peaceful homestay”
Baan Bua Homestay is tucked down a quiet street behind a wat, but is only a few minutes walk from the clock tower, restaurants, night bazaar and other attractions. The family room was plenty big enough for three people (queen bed + single bed). It has lovely polished floorboards and bright colourful walls and communal areas such as a large balcony, reading area and meals area. I will definitely stay here when I go back to Chiang Rai!

Quaint guesthouse in a quiet neighborhood”
We stayed at Baan Bua one night during the Chiang Rai Balloon Festival and thought it was great. It's a wooden home, with about six rooms on the second floor and a few on the ground level. The second floor is lovely. It has varnished wooden floors and a balcony that's ideal for slow mornings in the cool northern air. We had a private bathroom detached from our room (it's at the end of the hall; we were given a key so only we could enter it); curiously, there was also a sink in our room. Anyway, we slept very well here. The guesthouse is in a residential neighborhood, behind a temple off Jedyod Road - far enough from the bars to be quiet throughout the day, but close enough to the central attractions that you can walk to them. We would definitely stay here again, especially considering the price you pay for the room.

Dear Guest. I appreciate your positive feedback about our hotel. We do take pride in catering to our guests’ needs the best way we can. If you’re traveling to our area gain soon, don’t hesitate to call us. Best regards,
A plleasant and comfortable stay; ”
On th whole, a good experience; but do no get confused with another establishment with a similar name, Baan Bua GH that happens to be on the same street; I went to the wrong one becuase the name looks nearly the same. The owner is informative telling me how to cycle to White Temple which is 13 km away and Black House that is on the north side. You do not need to join a tour for these two tourist attractions if you are staying in Chiang Rai. There is a good bike shop on the main road where you rent one at a resonable price.

A great place to relax after a day walk”
I was taken to Baan Bua Guest House which was a totally different place, although close by. So, be very careful when the sign said Guest House. What you are looking for is Homestay. It is right behind the local temple, so just follow the road. The homestay is very colourful, so you won't miss it. I booked this place in the last minute and have no problem checking in and checking out. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only thing that might be shocking to some is that the fact that the bathroom is half outdoor, like in the back terrace of your room. Aside from that, this is a very nice place to stay.

"Quiet" retreat”
Baan Bua Homestay (not to be confused with Baan Bua Guesthouse, which is nearby) is a cute, more traditional looking guesthouse. The staff were great. Very friendly and accommodating. My biggest issue is the noise. There's no traffic noise since it's on a small street, but the walls are very thin. If you stay on a lower floor, you'll likely hear every footstep from the people above. Our beds were also very squeaky. Light sleepers should probably avoid it. I did really enjoy the open air bathroom. Even in winter, having a hot shower was quite nice.

Excellent”
Had a brief but pleasant stay at baan bua before getting the slow boat to Laos. The location was excellent, short walk from the bus station and night market. The staff were nice but their English want the best, however managed to add a extra night and book the slow boat tour for us. Rooms were comfortable and had everything you needed. On the top floor the private bathrooms aren't connected to the room but this wasn't really an issue. Area was quiet but as this is a wooden building people tended to stomp around which was pretty loud sometimes. Overall would recommend as the price is very reasonable and the location is very convenient.

Clean, colorful and well situated”
This guesthouse was clean, funny to have the private shower without roof. Close to the city center, don't confuse with the Baan Bua guesthouse which is on the map in the lonely planet even if very close. Staff was very helpful to organise visits and transports

A pleasant budget hotel”
There's another hotel called Baan Bua nearby which caused some confusion when trying to find but by asking some locals I found it without much issue. The hotel was nice and the staff friendly - for 200Bt the owner drove me to the airport at the end of my stay. The rooms were pleasant if a little small but that's to be expected from a budget hotel - however the ensuite washroom was pretty cool. Downsides were a lack of safe, little room to store clothes etc, and thin walls meant that when other residents got up at 6:30am I was also woken.

Good location - good banana pancakes”
i enjoyed my stay at baan bua homestay, comfy bed, clean room. i didn't experience any itching from the bed covers as noted by another reviewer. the bathroom was unique being outside but it works even when it is a bit cool in the morning. i appreciated that there was no mold. the tiles were very clean. the rooms on the second floor have wooden floors which creak when walked on. this can be distracting if you're a light sleeper trying to sleep on the ground floor. the eating area is pleasant, coffee good and banana pancakes better than the egg breakfast. the homestay provided my transportation to and from the airport for each way.

Not bad, nothing special ”
I enjoyed my stay at Baan Bua Homestay but probably would not go back again, as there are other places in town that offer better value for money. To be fair: all the basics were in place: a friendly receptionist who spoke a few words of English (but no more than that), WIFI, Western toilet, hot shower, the chance to meet other travelers and book tours, a basic breakfast menu (not included in price!), good location, all for 180 baht for a basic dorm. But.. many places in Chiang Rai offer this. What Baan Bua lacked in my opinion were things like: lockers, cheaper tours (they offered the same tours at a significantly higher price compared to the agencies around town), better breakfast options (if you`re into toast and eggs you`ll be happy here. If you want anything more sophisticated you`re better off elsewhere), a better guesthouse ambiance (there were just a few tourists and some locals were often hanging around the TV area, making you feel a bit like an intruder).

Small rooms, separate bathroom but great location”
Baan Bua is a pretty standard Thailand guesthouse but bright pink and green! The rooms are small but clean with a fridge and sink. The private bathroom was down the corridor but that wasn't an issue for us. It's in a great location just a few minutes walk from the main (old) bus station and night market but make sure you go to the right hotel - there is a Baan Bua guesthouse just down the road so check the map before you arrive. The Homestay can organise bike rental and tours - we didn't use them but the owner seemed really friendly and helpful and they seemed to have a good choice of trekking etc. On the whole there was nothing more we needed - cheap and very cheerful.
