Bit out of town but lovely view of bay”
Everything went smoothly, staff were good, rooms were fine, great view of bay from balconies, breakfast was adequate. The only downside was the walking distance from centre of town.

Potential scam - Agoda needs to look into this!”
We arrived at the hotel at 3pm and ask to check in. Nope. The reception gave us a "please wait a moment", even with a baby and senior citizens in our group. Half an hour later, when we asked what is holding up, they only told us that our booking through Agoda a month ago never reached them. Another 15 minutes went by, a reception lady called me over and said they didn't have any room left. At this point I told them again I have made the booking and payments through Agoda a month ago. She said "We don't care about the payment, because you booked with Agoda". We pulled out our cell phone and called the hotline directly. The Agoda staff who spoke with us said to put the reception staff on the phone. Unluckily the call got dropped then. However, without even speaking with the Agoda staff then, the reception lady magically presents 3 keys to our rooms, despite the fact that she told us that there were no rooms left. We waited close to an hour, with an exhausted and wailing baby,and for no reason. No apology received. I would say only stay here if your other option is sleeping on the street! Room is incredibly dirty, even for a budget hotel. I'm talking trash and pubes all over the carpet, mold on walls, and stained bed sheets. Oh and if the check in process didn't demonstrate their level of service enough, here is another story for you. On the last day of our stay, I woke up at 7 AM in the morning to my mom yelling in the hallway. She has asked for toilet paper and they wouldn't give it to her! The staff did not refill toilet paper on that day. When asked, three housekeeping staff just idly stood there and told my mom to call reception. Oh, and the phones in all three rooms weren't working so we would have to hike down stair, at 7 AM, to ask for a roll of toilet paper. Of course my mom blew off, and not until then did we get toilet paper. Bottom line, don't go there if you have any other option. Please don't put yourself and your family through this!

A quiet & clean hotel”
The hotel is plain but clean. Wi-Fi is fast. There are no entertainment facilities in the hotel and hence it would be better if you intend to spend your entire day out. Hotel staff are very helpful, but they can only converse well in Vietnamese and Mandarin. The surroundings of the hotel lacks places for food and is about 4km from the tourist port which has boats to tour Halong Bay.

Old Hotel, book a superior room”
Old hotel, located about 1 km away from city centre, the night market is a good outing, to the warf where the boats starts is too far to walk, take a bike or taxi, Ha Long city, nothing to see, take boat trips to the bay, they are nice 4 to 5 hours. Do not book the boat ride with agents, just buy the tickets at the ticket office at the warf.

It's fare from center point or shopping center. But its so clean and quiet. I think its very nice to stay and suitable for your rest. Breakfast has little variety of food.

Do not book your day trip from the hotel, where you will have no bargaining power and restricted options. Instead book from the Bai Chay tourist center located by the pier.
