peaceful, relaxing indeed, like Koh Mak itself. enjoy the energy of the place created by its owners Francesca and Massimo. The food is also delicious, of both Thai and Italian, the owners of the hotel are a lovely, lovely Italian couple. if you want a quiet, reclusive hideaway for a few days or more, stay here at Bamboo Hideaway Resort. make sure the owners still are Francesca and Massimo before you make the booking, of course.

LOVE this place! Beautiful bamboo huts with a great bar to mach”
I simply love this place. I always prefer to stay in authentic bamboo huts rather than the city style concrete. There is a lot of charm and character in organic bamboo huts. something that is sometimes lost in concrete lodgings. this place is unique because the rooms come with Air-con too. I found the rooms to be really clean and the shower water pressure and temperature worked a charm. the place is eco friendly and provides each guest with a refillable water bottle thats free to refill at the bar. The bed was large and very comfortable. The bar has a great atmosphere. Jake has superior cocktail maxing skills ! better than any cocktail I found on ko san haha. recommend the tadpole cocktail that has fresh passion fruit and soooo delicious. Jake the host goes above and beyond to ensure everyone is happy and comfortable. he's so friendly and such a warm character. we loved ko mak and the bamboo hide away. can't recomend this place enough.

Great hideaway”
This property is a bit outside the town and beach areas. You will need a scooter or bike to get around. New owner is really friendly and trying to make needed improvements. He gave us lots of tips on where the best beaches are and helped us book tours, etc. The bamboo huts are cozy but the bed was uncomfortable. Hopefully that will change soon. Loved the pool and there was always a friendly vibe at the bar in the evenings. Breakfast choices could be improved. Overall a great place to stay on the beautiful island of Koh Mak.

Great bungalows in Koh Mak”
Had a great time at Bamboo Hideaway Resort. Staff was super friendly and we really felt welcome. Location on the island was great (but you have to rent a motor bike). The bungalow was spacious, clean and quaint. Hope to come back soon.

we felt really comfortable ”
The staff are really nice and welcoming. They definitely care about their guests and we could easily get what we needed whenever something was missing. At the end it is a very calm resort with a good atmosphere. It is a bit far from the restaurants, but even by bicycle we could get around easily. I recommend staying at bamboo hideaway if you want to be around relaxed people and if you are looking for a familiar atmosphere.

Friendly, relaxed and welcoming”
It was a great way to start: the owner, Jake, met me at the pier and offered to take my luggage. When, less than ten minutes later, I walked into the relaxed, friendly and welcoming resort, I knew that I would extend my stay. In the end I doubled it to ten nights. The rooms are as photographed and described: a reasonable size, they are clean, simple but comfy stilted bamboo huts with a mosquito net over the bed and separate bathroom with a decent shower. The breakfast was surprisingly good with freshly ground coffee on tap and bacon, eggs, jam and toast cooked to order whenever I managed to raise myself -(there are no set breakfast times). It isn't at the beach, but it is beautiful and has a lovely pool. It is also very easy to access the rest of the island from. The food including Mexican is decent. There's also Jake's special cocktail and some very good music. I wouldn't hesitate going back or recommending a stay here.

Herat place to stay on a great island”
Stayed at the resort and enjoyed every minut of it. The rooms are well made bamboo huts. The owners are Italian, a real friendly couple, that makes the best Italien food. The Island is great if you warnt a place to relax without too many turists.

New owner there to please, international staff”
Amazing place with an amazing owner and staff. You never know when you book a place online what you will experience upon arrival. What we experienced here was simply, the best place on our 30 days of travel in Thailand. The owner and the staff were outstanding, friendly and always willing to help with any detail. Jake the NEW owner who just took over within the last month, is an American but he has an international staff, so 6 languages are spoken here, English, Norwegian, Spanish, Chinese and of course Thai. The Bungalows are unique, built with Bamboo top to bottom. The swimming pool is clean and beautiful. They have Thai food, Mexican food and American Breakfast. As with any Island it may not always be perfect, your door may not latch perfectly or the water may stop working for a few minutes but they always attend to it immediately and with a smile.

Peaceful relaxed environment but a little distant ”
Francesca and Massimo are excellent hosts- attentive, responsive but not intrusive. The food was excellent, the rooms look lovely but sometimes not very practical, a bit dark and no flyscreens, so opening the windows a bit problematic. If you like being close to the water at all times, this may not be the place for you, there are no nice beaches nearby. However, they have transport to the beaches (follow their recommendations and you will see some gems!) twice a day for your convenience. As another reviewer, we found the chairs in the balcony uncomfortable, so the main place to relax was the pool and dining areas. We did not have a problem with mosquitoes or sandflies.

Very friendly staff, pool (with a nice view :) ), new (ly renovated?) big bungalows. We had a really good stay! The restaurant serves good food. Unfortunately the serving size is pretty small (esp. for the price). We would definitely come back, it's a great place to stay!

Original all-bamboo bungalows, quiet and isolated.”
There is no beach near the hotel, but Massimo will drive you to the main beaches. The grounds are very small and the bungalows are crammed together. No meaningful garden.There is no shade round the pool in the afternoon. The only place to be is the lobby. We found the place a bit claustrophobic.
