Banchan 9 is a wonderful homestay!”
The property is large with a beautiful garden. The rooms are decorated with lots of love, they are clean and have everything you need. The spacious terraces invite you to relax and enjoy the silence. Every morning we were served a magical breakfast. The owners took great care of us. On the last evening we cooked together and had a delicious dinner in the garden, it was wonderful. Die Zimmer sind liebevoll eingerichtet, sauber und haben alles was man braucht. Die geräumigen Terassen laden zum Entspannen ein. Wir bekamen jeden Morgen ein zauberhaftes Frühstück serviert und auch sonst wurde darauf geachtet, dass es uns an nichts fehlt. An einem Abend haben wir gemeinsam im Garten gekocht, es war wunderbar. Excellent Homestay-10 points”
We would like to recommend the Homestay, which is run by the couple Pong and Diamond, unreservedly. Mrs. Pong, who speaks excellent English, and her husband will take care of all your guests' needs, from breakfast of your choice to scooter hire and much more. The traditional Thai style homestay is a social place where you feel at home. We had rented a whole floor, there were several fans and very good mosquito protection. The Homestay also has air-conditioned rooms. Guests can prepare food in a kitchen. Coffee, tea and clean water are available free of charge. The location of the homestay is excellent. The old town can be reached in about five minutes. In the immediate vicinity, there are Tesco, Seven Eleven and a pharmacy as well as excellent street food stands. We can recommend this Homestay to other travelers in every respect. Annette and Manfred

Lovely homestay with lovely hosts ”
We arrived at Banchan 9 Homestay not quite sure what to expect and fell absolutely in love with it. The house is full of quirky details and you can see that building and decorating it has been a labour of love. Everything was comfortable and clean and the owners are a truly stellar couple, kind and sweet. We especially enjoyed breakfasts in their nice garden. Just a fantastic stay - fully recommended!

Kindest Hosts I Had”
I've been to several homestays in Thailand, but this by far, has the kindest hosts. I really like that I can comfortably speak English to them. They showed me so much kindness. I just came here to spend my time checking my students' essays in such a way that I can also enjoy a different environment on a holiday. And I'm glad that their Wi-Fi connection is good. I was also served with a nice breakfast and freshly brewed coffee. I enjoyed the cooler breeze at night. My favorite spot in the house is the toilet. It's so chic! I also like that I can just walk to the Chantaboon waterfront. On the other hand, since the house is made of wood, noise is unavoidable. If you are quite sensitive with noise, you might want to move to an independent room, which they also have. Mosquitos are also present but with such a nice bed, you can still sleep well. All in all, I love this homestay and I would definitely want to come back. Thank you so much to my hosts. You are the kindest.

Cozy and spacious home in Thailand ”
We are frequent travelers to Chanthaburi but this was our best trip yet! Big thanks to Pa Pong for her friendly hospitality and comfortable homestay. The rooms are huge, the bathrooms spacious, hot water gets really hot, and beds are large and for us, comfortable (Thai-style firm). We will definitely be back :) :)

Perfect stay!”
Chanthaburi was a very nice town and the homestay with Pong and her husband made our stay even more worthwhile. It is the perfect mixture of having time and room for yourself and diving in, sharing/cooking a meal with Pong and her husband and learn about Thailand. We spent three nights there and would have loved to stay longer. They were a very welcoming couple and the place is more than beautiful. We hope to come back one day!

One word- amazing!! Khun Pong and her husband were great hosts, so friendly and helpful. The location was great, only a short walking distance from the cathedral and the old town of Chanthaburi. The breakfast was delicious. We took the fish rice soup and the Vietnamese omelet. The room and the decor is beautifully made of wood. Lots of mosquitoes but this Thailand, don’t forget to bring some mosquitoes repellent.

A few days isn’t long enough. The owners are really friendly and the place is well kept. It’s in the middle of town, close to the Cathedral, but it’s nice and quiet. The rooms are clean yet rustic. A lovely place to stay. Thank you.

This homestay is beautiful and a real homestay because the owners (a lovely Thai couple) make breakfast and let you join for dinner. Or you can cook yourself. The location is excellent for exploring Chanthaburi by scooter and the property is a green paradise full of beautiful plants. A place worth staying for a couple of days!

The three of us travelled as a group and were picked up by the hosts from the bus terminal in Chanthaburi by car and were also brought back there on departure! The woman speaks good English and is very helpful (for example, she organized a taxi for us for a day at the Chao Lao beach). Also we had breakfast every morning and as much cold bottled water as you need for free. The rooms were nicely furnished, clean and big, the only problem were the mosquitoes, but fans and mosquito nets helped. Thanks for the great stay!

We had an overnight stay at Banchan9 Homestay. We had selected this on the basis on pictures and the reviews. We really enjoyed our stay here. Khun Pong, the hostess was very warm, friendly and helpful. She made us feel at home and also gave us tips about places to see, to eat and things that we should carry back. If you are looking for amenities that you would normally get at a hotel, then this is not a place. But if you want to experience hospitality and love artistic collection from various places and times, then this is the place.

we stayed here for 3 nights in april. very nice stay with an authentic feel, a lot of space and a fabulous terrace. the upper rooms, where we stayed, have no airco (but a lot of fans, airco in the ground level rooms), so be prepared to have some (or a lot of) mosquito bites. the friendly lady of the house can provide you with lots of useful info and makes a nice breakfast (included, thai style); her husband is into vintage cars (and built the house himself) and is happy to drive you to the bus station, for instance. great green garden with a lot of animals around (gekkos, frogs, cats and dogs, bats, squirrels). also very close to the waterfront community and city center. we had a great stay; recommended!

We wish we'd known better... ”
... About what to expect. Reading from so many other reviews, we knew it would be rustic and charming, but we didn't expect the lack of intimacy and privacy with the other room/customers, as there is no ceiling on all rooms, only a house roof. We could hear pretty much everything that was done or said in the other room. Things might have changed since most other guests published their fabulous reviews, but the whole experience we had was more Spartan than rustic, peaceful and relaxing. The mosquito net around the bed was unfortunately damaged in a few areas, which made mosquitoes still manage to fly in and bite us. No aircons, but working fans. Can't blame the host, otherwise lovely, for the road construction which started early morning in front of the place, but it has to be mentioned for someone requesting tranquility. I wish I had known most of these aspects before booking, so I hope this will help some people in their choice.

It's the little things that count!”
Banchan 9 Homestay is run by a very welcoming and friendly couple Pong and 'Diamond'. 'Diamond' built/crafted the designer teak/wooden house with expert craftsmanship utilising old doors, windows and timbers from other old houses. It has an amazing ambience and from the moment you arrive the stresses of travel dissipate. It is the little things that count and Pong and 'Diamond' have thought of most things. There is a kitchenette with coffee and tea making facilities, a stocked fridge with ice in the freezer and complimentary bottled water. The beautiful rooms come equipped with things you may have forgotten like shampoo, mosquito repellant, moisturiser and if there is anything else you may need the hosts are more than happy to help. Each of the 4 rooms has its own character and when you arrive you are shown each room for you to make your selection. The complimentary breakfast can be western but I would recommend the Thai style soups which are delicious. Ideal for a family or group but as a solo traveller here for the gem market it was a place to come 'home' to after a day at the market. It is a short 5-10 minute walk to the market from the Homestay. Pong and Diamond do not actually live in the house, they live a couple of houses away so you still have your own space unlike many homestays. Chanthaburi has some fantastic restaurants but also many many delicious street vendors. Do not worry about eating from street vendors the food is clean and very good, just follow the golden rule i.e If it is busy with locals the food is good! Also make sure you check out the riverside cafes and restaurants! A thoroughly enjoyable stay and I would recommend it completely.

Great Chanthaburi experiences”
I fully enjoyed staying at Banchan 9. Its location is superb. Chanthaburi river as well as a cathedral, one of Chanthaburi's must-see places, is just minutes walk from the house. The owners speak good English and you can learn from them all what you want to know about Chanthaburi. In particular, they gave me good recommendations about where to go and eat. One of them was a restaurant specialised in authentic Chanthaburi cuisine. Massaman durian was heavenly. Don't leave Chanthaburi without dining at this restaurant. Banchan 9 is an ideal place to stay for those wishing to have authentic Chanthaburi experiences.
