Great hotel within a good location for pubs/bars train station and access to beach and promenade. Hotel breakfast was good and room was comfortable. Great value for 4 nights in July. Staff were helpful and provided us with a fan as the room was very warm.

Last minute overnight treat to make the most of our days off together”

Last minute deal at £35 overnight room only basis. Cannot grumble whatsoever as we wanted cheap overnight accommodation and that's what we got. If we were paying the full cost we wouldn't have stayed there. Staff were unfriendly, residents complaints at the reception area when we arrived. The lifts to the top floor were tiny (2 person only) cramped with luggage. Room had clean sheets, the rest was not so great. Bathroom tiny (difficult to close door behind you whilst doing your business) overhead? shower built for an ewok or small child. Carpets threadbare, fan did not work but to the hotels favour a new one was supplied within 15 minutes. Unfortunately it was of such a sub standard that it was useless. Bournemouth was lovely the Britannia was not.

Stay spoilt by noisy guests and 1 plug socket”

Room small. Had only one standard UK socket on opposite wall available. 2 other strange sockets had a top pole pin which won't accept traditional UK BS standard plugs. Awkward to charge phone and use hair drier. Windows had no safety on them and on 4th floor opened wide enough to lean out of. Noisy due to close proximity of neighbouring rooms all facing into a small interior quadrangle. When windows are open (being hot weather) you can hear other occupants. There were 5 /6 men having a party in a room opposite mine shouting all night from when I arrived at 8pm. There are notices in the rooms advising occupants to respect others regarding noise. I heard someone ask the guys to shut up and they swore at him. I was going to complain if they had been noisy later than 1130 but they did leave and it went quiet at 11pm. Spoilt the evening though as I was trying to relax. The TV was attached to a low chest of drawers positioned sideways to the bed so you couldn't watch it from bed!

Great staff,great room & great location ”

We stayed for one night and booked online. Very warm welcoming from all on reception and the location was great. We stayed in a double room and it was spotless with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was well equipped and we will be booking here again as always travel for work. P.s : the only thing missing was a couple of biscuits for the tea. Please get some in as everyone loves to dunk a biscuit .

Friendly, basic, a bit worn but good value.”

Typical of the chain, a bit Heath Robinson in places but if you just need a basic place to sleep it is good value. Nondescript 1960s architecture but high ceilings and good sized rooms, new double glazed windows which open wide. The building seems to retain heat, it was pretty warm in September so might be uncomfortable in hot weather, no air con but a fan in the room helps. Tiny lifts, better to walk. WiFi a bit slow but it worked. Some recent repainting but many of the wardrobes a bit stiff. Beds firm but comfortable, clean sheets. Bathroom recently retiled but the shower while powerful was slow to drain, (room 307). Bath not plumbed in but was not advertised. Friendly international staff.

Ok room - very clean - awful bar area - bright uncomfortable and very old decor - bar does not have access to card machine! Taken to reception to pay for drinks! no atmosphere at all - needs a lot of money spent to smarten it up - nice staff / parking very limited and they allow people to park across entrances - not to easy to access cars needed a 15 point turn to get out to leave - some noise at night from people outside and inside hotel - ok - served its purpose but wouldn’t recommend it for anything more than a bed to sleep in

cheap and cheerful but Don't Stay There!!”

arrived car park full ! double Yellow Lines every where around! only parking 15 minute walk to the hotel we returned to hotel to drop off bags and luckily one car was leaving given the keys to room but non the *three guys* behind reception offered to help with luggage! Then were asked to pay "Cash"! for parking in the Hotel car park!! the way the "request" for "Cash" was made we suspect these "Monies" are going directly into the pockets of the guys at reception? the lift to the upper floors so incredibly Tiny could not fit two of us and the remainder of the luggage in lift finally arrived in room 201 and found twin beds instead of the double bed we "booked" but we were v tired and decided that carrying luggage to another room did not warrant complaining so we stayed in the room NO phone to reception?? to ask for water after going to reception they tell you "there is NO water available but there is a garage 10min" approx 6 AM noise started above the room so no sleep after that!!

The location of the hotel was good. The room was small but the bathroom was big with a small bath in it. It didn't make sense to have such a big bathroom with such a small bath. You could actually fit another bed in it. The hotel needed updating. The only thing that was up to date in the room was the tv. Also you can hear all the noise from other rooms. The room didn't have a window so there was no ventilation. The room was overpriced.
