If you are looking for complete comfort and a high level of service in a self-contained resort, then Cat Ba Sunrise is for you. When we were looking for places to stay on Cat Ba, this property came up as the most expensive option compared to other hotels on the island. However, after having stayed there for 8 days, my wife and I can safely say that it is worth paying the extra to stay here. The spacious and spotlessly clean room that we stayed in had a balcony and sea view, looking over the hotel swimming pool and into the bay. Truly wonderful and divine. The hotel restaurant was absolutely amazing with a great range of food choices at very reasonable prices. The breakfast that they serve you is plentiful with a huge choice so it is a delight to wake up to it, knowing what morning feast awaits you! Finally, Simon the general manager and his assistants, Dinh and others, did a great job to make us feel so welcomed here. We will book again! Sacha and Itzi (London)

really amazing place to stay at”
Loved it! Everything was perfect! Staffs were so polite and helpful, during the slow season, which we went during their new year time, and most of the places were closed.. especially the hospital cave we wanted to visit after renting a motor bike going around the island. not many people were there, but the resort food and drinks were amazing, we loved every min of it...

The hotel is on the beach and very well maintained. Room was good with a balcony that overlooked the beach and sea, Good beach bar also. The hotel is low level and blends in nicely. It is a shame they are building a high rise eye sore next door.

A little paradise ”
This is the most beautiful hotel on all of Cat Ba Island. The rooms are spacious, clean and charming. The location is amazing. The beach with the bay and lime stones are right outside your window. Be sure to take a morning or early afternoon swim to avoid the crowds. The hotel pool is very nice as well. Breakfast was also very good for Asian standards.

The right place to spend a holiday in Cát Bà”
Fantastic view of the bay and the beautiful sandy beach. Very well maintained garden and swimming pool with an attractive view. That's how you imagine holidays. Too bad that is built in the immediate vicinity at the moment. (Very noisy). Food was excellent. Unfortunately we had no hot water on the second day because boiler was broken. From the management of the hotel, however, in this regard, unfortunately no price concessions or accommodating offered. Reception was not necessarily very hospitable in return, the service staff was very courteous and nice. Price performance ratio in the context. Can recommend this hotel well

Advantage: nice location outside of the busy center of Cat Ba, but still not too far. Very nice and clean swimming pool, although a bit too hot, but that's probably due to the sun. Helpful friendly staff. Good tasty food in the restaurant, and lots of choice during breakfast. Disadvantage: the beach is public and is packed with loads of people, especially in the late afternoon when the sun is less. Forget about relaxing on the beach because of the noise. The room was clean but a bit smelly.

Nice Old School Resort on Rapidly Changing Island”
Catba Sunrise is good for those wanting an old school chinese colonial style resort. Beautiful setting on the best beach on Catba Island. The buffet breakfast is excellent, and listening to the waves crash on the shore at night in the outdoor bar is a plus. My only complaint has nothing to do with Catba Sunrise but with Catba Island and Halong Bay as a whole. Come to Catba and take a one day cruise of the bays, but unfortunately, due to industrialization of the ports to the north and east of Halong Bay, the water is not really for swimming. And Catba Island like all of Vietnam is in the middle of a crazy buildking and industrialization boom. Great for Vietnamese people, but not so great for tourism. However, if you come to Halong Bay pay the premium to stay at Catba Sunrise, enjoy the nice pool, listen to the waves crash. Also, please note; since there are really only three good beaches on Catba Island everyone comes to beach during day, but beach is your private beach at night.

Bad value for money”
We booked the double deluxe with ocean view & paid £105 for a room that was dirty, towels and linen that were stained, a shower that was broken & flies all over breakfast. We were reassured when booking that our room would be in a quiet spot but ended up in the noisiest part of the hotel. When we nicely complained to the manager, Simon, he did not even attempt to apologise or offer as much as a complimentary drink for the inconvenience but instead accused us of lying. We have stayed at other hotels in Catba for much less and far higher quality. The staff were also very rude. Worst value for money we've ever experienced in all our years of travel.

Rundown 4* hotel ”
The only nice thing on the hotel is the location and nice beach. It’s a rundown 4*hotel: bathroom stinks, mold on the sealing, old appliances, no designated smoking area - we had a group of Chinese besides us who smoked heavy and our room was constantly smelling to smoke. Breakfast very average. Pool bar stuff very unfriendly. Gym machine partially not working, right besides the hotel is a construction side for a new hotel. In summary: we paid a top high price for what is offered.

Spent a week at cat ba sunrise resort; the location was excellent on a beautiful sandy beach. Plenty of comfortable sun beds on the beach and around the pool; beach towels freely available for guest use. All areas of the hotel including rooms were clean and gardens very well kept. Good breakfast in the restaurant and the beach bar was a lovely spot for a beer, cocktail, snack or lunch. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Cat ba itself is an ideal location for boat trips to other islands, Lan Ha and Ha Long bay

The Best in Cat Ba Island”
Overall, Cat Ba Sunrise Resort is a highly recommended beach hotel and can be considered as one of the best resort in the island. Well English speaking receptionist and the waitress. All the room has a sea view balcony. Quite environment surrounding by hill and facing with sea. I stayed in the Executive Room which equipped with jacuzzi and a separated living room. There are variety of food at the restaurant, you can simply stay in the hotel enjoy the beach and food without going out elsewhere. The only dissatisfaction is the bad WIFI connection, whereby you are hardly connected to the WIFI at your room.

I read some mixed reviews on this hotel, but was pleasantly surprised by how nice it is. Cat Ba downtown is a little like Myrtle Beach, honky tonk-ish. But this property was by far and away the best in the area, and secluded as well. Rooms, grounds, pool and staff were great. Food also good. Its not a 5 star hotel by world standards, but a 10 star compared to other hotels in Cat Ba. I paid $134 a night that included breakfast and dinner. Had a suite that was very nice. I stayed a month before at Intercontinental Nantrang for the same price. Much better place and beach, but this was really nice and by far the best in Cat Ba..... books your boat trip early (especially coming home). The boat fills up fast...
