We accidentally booked this hotel over another one in the area, and so happy that we did! Our doubts came from reviews of guests complaining that the bathrooms were too small, no dresser drawers, odd location, and/or the pool area being too noisy. It’s a boutique hotel, not a spa or retreat! If you want that, the staff will suggests a few places. Here’s what we loved... - STAFF was super friendly and helpful. They helped us with whatever we needed (sight-seeing / restaurant / shopping recommendations, taxi arrangements). - ROOFTOP BAR was a great place to meet staff and other guests (or drink alone while enjoying the festive views of Chiang Mai night life) - OPEN FLOOR PLAN lobby (pool, cafe, workspace, lounge) had a great vibe - not too festive, not too private. The only “problem” we had was the poor WiFi connection during peak hours, which we’ve had at other hotels. We loved ISTY so much, we’re returning to spend our last week there in Thailand!

The Wipanan residence is relatively new and the facilities are well maintained. We wanted to take the children ages 2-10 to the city for a night in the hot season. We had a unit with a separate bedroom, a full bath and a living room area. The rooms had a fridge and microwave and electric tea kettle. The receptionist came right away when the room was getting hot (we had pushed the wrong button on the A/C). The pool is covered and well maintained near a room of fitness equipment and changing rooms. The hotel has easy parking and is off the main street, so is quiet. It is a short walk to a good market with food and smoothies and basic shopping. Public transportation by songtaew (red truck) or tuk-tuk is readily available at the corner into the old city or other areas for sight-seeing.

I'd stayed for 3 nights with my lil kid. It's a new and modern designed hotel, with a bunch of plants that can make you feel cool even at noon. Stayed only about 10m to the road with big restaurants crowded at night, but the alley is so silent. 1km to the old town and 2km to the chic area like Maya or OneNimman, it's easy to reach by bike (u can rent for 250-300b per day) or grab. A lot of free stuff is provided: tea, coffee, hot cocoa, cookies, instant noodle, especially washing and drying machine. U may sit next to the pool and enjoy ur drink for 24/7. Breakfast is buffet style with about 10-15 choices, not so numerous like luxury hotels but quite enough for starting a day. Menu changes everyday so u can eat for a few days without being bored. The staff is so willing to help, and so friendly for my boy. The whole space of the hotel is so clean. My only complaint that the last day we stayed there, my room wasn't made up even we marked the sign twice that day.

The hostel is 5 mins walk from the Chang Phuak gate and there is an area of street food stalls opposite to the gate. The staff is friendly. The five person room was not the original one which we booked with the rock climbing stairs but that was an extra surprise that we was arranged a room which is sufficiently wide with a small rope course which was an absolute highlight of the room. The free breakfast was ok and there is a commonly shared microwave at the rooftop.

I was here with my best friend and we had such a pleasant stay! It was sad for us to leave 51hometel on our last day... Typically before I shower in any hotel, I would run and spray hot water around the shower area to kill “unwanted germs”. However, the bathroom was so clean in my room I didn’t need to do it at all! I love how this is a family business and everyone there were friendly and genuine. We were also very touched when the owner walked out of the compound to help us look for our lost driver. We appreciate everything they have done! We felt so safe staying there :) We have already recommend the place to our friends and family!! Missing 51hometel, from Singapore...

Staid in superior room, October 2015 When in Chiang Mai, I always stay in this hotel as they sometimes have very good prices, which allow those on a budget to get a taste of luxury at very reasonable rate. The location is perfect for me : I love the area which has very few tourists, and is close to some places that I like to visit. However I understand that somme could feel the location not convenient, despite the fact that the hotel offers a free shuttle service every evening to and from the Night Bazarr area. Also close to the Chang Phuak Bus station, and to some very lively areas of the town. They have a nice quiet pool which few people use, big clean rooms with all the amenities (mine had a shower cubicle and no bath tub, which I love). The staff is obviously trained to be friendly and efficient, and I really could not say anything bad about any one of those whom I had to deal with.

The X2 Villa was a lovely family experience. The taxi couldn't find it on the first day and circled for an hour. However from that experience we definately knew all the backstreets and could direct taxi's from then on. Chiang Mai is such a beautiful place and the X2 Villa certainly was a fantastic start to our experience there. Zi our host looked after us so well, and despite a fracture in his foot went out of his way to ensure that our time there was the best it could be. He organised or helped us to select some great activities using his local knowledge and got us great deals. Fantastice place, happy to go back again.

The staff is phenomenal, any problems you have at all they are there to help. Generally they speak decent English which is a change from other accommodations. As soon as the receptionist saw us arrive he rushed out to help us. We were allowed to leave our luggage there before check-in. They have nice breakfast, the selection could be bigger but it is acceptable. You can book tours with them easily. The room could have been a bit more cleaner but nothing major. Would book again.

Very accommodating staff lovely rooms with full size fridge and microwave excellent Wi-Fi coverage cute swimming pool but even better rooftop garden for you all daysun bathers out there.. a little further out of town then most hotels I'm a big Walker and it took me 20 minutes to walk to the Phuak Gate. Really close to a fantastic local market with brilliant local Thai dining options everything under 100 Baht fantastic full of locals enjoying food

Amaka is a MUST STAY in Chiang Mai. Given its strategic location, you will never be hungry! There are nice cafes around the corner, and it so centralised! The owner, Urana, is such a helpful soul. She constantly rendered her assistance to us and was very happy to do so. What makes this stay extremely pleasant is the cleanliness and beauty of the room! It is absolutely stunning and so immaculate! It was hard to get out of the big comfy bed, but you'll feel refreshed after a nice homely breakfast prepared by the owner herself. Communication was easy from the get go and service was tip top. I really think this place is underrated, and deserves more stars! One of the best Bed and breakfast I've been to! Thanks Urana and team for taking such good care of us!

Our best accommodation for this trip (stayed in 4 different accommodations). The room was spacious and clean with lots of light. Nice decoration with a touch of colonial style. Clean and big bathroom with hot and cold shower. The staffs were friendly and very helpful. Our room did not include breakfast but there was a nice salad & pasta restaurant on the ground floor. A bit walking from the main road, but the staffs can call a taxi for you without charging. If you have a car, there were a lot of parking spaces with 24-hr security guards.

Perfect Location in Santitham. Feel secure with 24/7 security. Clean modern apartment and friendly staff. I arrived late, and after reading the reviews, I was worried about not being able to get in and set my finger scan up to get in and out of the door. But the staff was there for me, always contactable on whatsapp or phone, and they set up my finger scan. Very pleased, that I booked the same apartment again a week later.

Our stay at Now Chiang Mai was very good. The guest house owner and staff are very friendly and always greet us with smile. The guest house owner took the initiative to send me to hospital after I asked him where is the nearest clinic. I was really touched by his kind gesture and even helped me for the registration in the hospital. The common area at the ground floor is well equipped and guests are free to use any of them. Therefore, we can even cook and get unlimited supply of filtered water. Towel will be changed everyday and we can even hang our clothes at the balcony area. I will be back and thank you very much for the wonderful experience!

This place was amazing! The owners are some of the nicest people we met in Thailand. They stored our sutcases for a few days while we went to pai, so all we had to bring was a back pack. owner also spoke exceptional english, I highly recommend this place! Great value!

Very nice hotel for the money , a lot nicer than most in the area , not in the center but can get about cheaply in a cheap taxi , quite nice to be away from it all anyway , very clean , well equipped

The best thing about Baan Thalang is the management of Pee (husband) and Jutharat (wife.) They are extremely welcoming and provide a great deal of information about local activities, tours, and classes. Jutharat even helped us book our tour at Elephant Nature Park and our Thai cooking class. The hotel has a modest exterior but inside everything is in great condition, including the room. I only gave a 4-star rating for location because it's not located in the old city, but it's still very convenient as it's only a 5-minute walk to the old city and a 10-15 minute walk to the North Gate (Chang Phuek), where you can find the cowboy hat lady and get the best Khao Ka Moo of your life. They also recommended a great Khao Soi place around the corner. Overall, we were very happy with our 3-night stay here.

I switched from the most horrible place in Chiang Mai to the best I could ever wish for ! The owner tried to do everything to make me feel home! I had the luck I was the only one in this beautiful contemporary style hotel, he gave me the top room as a compromise of being a little bit late. I loved this place in anyway possible and I would recommend to everybody ! The private rooftop deck is wonderfull, the beds are comfy, everything is clean and the location is perfect ! Thank you so much for this amazing time..

The staff were very helpful in answering all my questions about the city. The rooms were very spacious, the largest dorm type rooms I've been in. The location is also great, it's right outside the Chang Phuak Gate and close to the songthaew terminal going to doi suthep. Local food stalls also set up nearby for affordable dinners. The only complaint I would have is the stiffness of the beds. They looked so new (even covered with plastic) that I would think they still needed breaking in. Otherwise the rooms were great, with each bed having assigned 2 sockets for charging your electronics.

I found Rinrada Loft Residence in Dec 2017 and was amazed by its good location near the Chang Phueak Bus Terminus. Again in Dec 2018, I looked forward to another stay at Rinrada Loft. However I found this place seriously deteriorated. Although it still enjoys the strategic location and a very cheap price, I detest uncleanliness. The room which I had has a toilet that smells of stagnant stale musk as color collects in the basin. Staff service has pumped up where there is often a staff at the counter attending to you (it was not so in 2017). I will give a deeper thought if I were to book here again.

Located just right outside Chang Phuak Gate (the north gate), Inndigo enjoys convenience regarding sightseeing and food hunting. During this trip, I stayed here for three times, with the previous two booked beforehand. The immaculate cleanliness, spaciousness, and hotel-level equipment have made this guesthouse a real bargain for travelers, let alone the staff's being helpful and friendly. Actually, I had reserved a more expensive boutique hotel for my final stay before I came to Chiang Mai. However, the good experience in Inndigo finally made me cancel the one and stay with them one more time! Why not? Save money for more delicious northern-Thai food or shopping while enjoying hotel-like coziness.

the facilities are good, big bedroom we had a private 2 single bedroom with shared bathroom. Bathrooms were clean and hot water all day round. Cheap services to do laundry and balcony and roof top were lovely additions. Suk was so helpful in helping us book activities- we would recommend Into a the wild elephant sanctuary! He also advised us on restaurants and where the best places to go were. Overall a really lovely stay and would go back again.

I booked this hostel 3 times when I was traveling back and forth. It is super clean, the beds are kinda hard but okay, the breakfast is good for the price, and the owner Mat is a super friendly dude. The location is very quiet, and 2 min walking distance to the north side of the canal. Would book again!

Definitely worth getting the A/C room for the price. Location is good. Food at the hostel is decently priced and fairly good.

Chang Puak Hotel is located 5 minutes walk north of the Chang Puak Gate on the north side of the city wall. The hotel is quiet due to the lush vegetation and it's 100 meters away from the Chang Puak street. The manager and staff are very welcoming and helpful. I stayed there 3 nights in the end of November, at Loi Khratong(lantern festival) and I got a detailed map which spot in town I should go to get the best view. Very good and reasonable food, nice and clean pool for a refreshing morning dip before breakfast. The beautiful Thai architecture in wooden reception area and restaurant together with the lush tropical vegetation, give this place a tropical ambiance that's hard to beat. It's also very clean all over the whole place. I walked around a lot, and 7-11, nice food stalls and street vendors is just 5-10 minutes walk away. I will recommend this place to anyone and will stay there on my next trip to Chiang Mai next year.

I booked for only 1 night but decided to extended because the staff was really really nice and helpful. She recommended me for places to travel, local food and must try restaurant and coffee shops, night markets, temple. basically she gave me a map and point out famous places to go. She added me on Line and fast reply every questions i asked about directions and places. I rent a motorbike from here for only 200 baht a day. the bike was new and good. she even let me had a bike even it had passed the deadline while i was still waiting for my flight so i can wander around. Great place to stay, clean bathroom, great beds, nice, friendly and helpful staff, close to the center, the whole street are hostel.

Great location: 20 minutes drive from the airport, 3minute walk to the tesco lotus, 5minute walk to a small-sized night market and the old city, but still located in a quiet place. Staff is very nice and helpful. The room and refrigerator are large. The twin beds we had are comfortable. There is an adorable cat named Nicky who one could pet and play with. This hotel is definitely worth its price if you dont want to stay in dormitory or fancy hotel!
