I totally love this hotel. It's away from the busy city (which is mostly filled with tourists and not much local things to experience anyway) but yet it's just about 5mins ride away. The interior is excellent. From the lobby, to the huge surroundings with very naturally done landscaping which makes you feel like you're living in the olden day Thai lord's house, beautiful rooms with own balcony facing a small pond, the bath tub that opens up to the room. Taking a stroll at night at the gardens was really nice. I went for the spa twice. It's not cheap for Thailand standard but you get really good service in nice surroundings and you will feel entirely pampered. The hotel service was really good. You'll feel that the hotel staff is servicing you from the heart. My partner had food poisoning. Upon informing the reception with a phone call in the middle of the night (we were just enquiring if there's any clinics open at night), they came to our room, and took us to the hospital in the hotel car and drove us back after that. Feel free to book all your tours and adventures with the hotel. The rates is what you get outside. It's easy, realiable and they will arrange everything for you with no frills. I truly enjoyed my stay there. I can't pick one best feature... Btw, if you can ride a bike, rent one from town. It's particularly easy to navigate around Chiangmai, and riding around was kinda relaxing... it's cheaper than taking the tuk tuk in/out everytime. We got a cute scooter for only 150bht a day :)

I've been travelling in chiangmai for many times. Gategaa village gives one of the best experience for me and my family. With this affordable price, the hotel is much more than a value-for-money. Nice decoration all around, clean and comfy bed, plus small little things showing the well-thought design every here and there.. swimming pool with extra towel, gym room, parking space, nice and caring cooked breakfast, helpful and smiley staff (yes, english language for foreigners)...what more could we ask for... :) a full score for this newly-opened hotel. we will back here if possible. <3 ps. no sponsor, we just really like this place..

simply the right choice to be based and explore chiang mai, or to relax at the gym and swimming pool / sun roof. wonderfully attentive staff. the concierge was so friendly and caring. he suggested what activities we could do and asked us what we preferred. when i told him that hiring a scooter would be our first choice he called the motor rent. within 15 minutes 3 scooters were delivered at the hotel for baht a day. far lower rates than elsewhere. yes, the hotel shows it age. during my first stay it was a westin, than sheraton and now holliday inn. i still remember when it was grand and one of the top places on the river bank on the out skirts of chiang mai. now it is a efficient place, great service and good vale for money. for 6 days we had 2 executive river view including a very good breakfast buffet, free wifi internet and 2 free laundry items a day. executive river view means spacious rooms with breathtaking views from the top floors. the best to explore and understand the lay out of the city and its surroundings. there is no best location in chiang mai. if located in the old city it is as for to the night market as from the holliday inn. staying in the night market area it is not so close to china town and its markets. doi suthep, ban tawai or sankamphaeng is out of the city any way and hiring scooters solves the hassle of finding tuk-tuks or taxis. despite of the free hotel shuttle to the night market. i will remember the holliday inn chiang mai as the right choice that contributed to a great stay in the north of thailand.

i accidentally booked this hotel. however, i do believe that was my great luck. i and my girlfriend went to chiangmai for a short trip. we expect to stay in a boutique hotel. amazingly, the rainforest boutique hotel is not only a nice boutique hotel which enable to amaze my overseas girlfriend but its room fee is also outstandingly cheap. the staffs are helpful. they assist me a lot to seek where the best khan-toke restaurant is. i do recommend my friends to stay in this excellent hotel in next time.

Living up to all the best reviews! Quiet and very cosy room and large bathroom. Lots of greens and lots of sofa to read a book or for conversation. Swimming pool is not big but good for a dip and relaxing. Good breakfast spread. 100m to Ping River and 15mins walk to nearby Night Bazaar or restaurant. Tucked in around local houses and small lanes leading to the property, still quite safe. Great place for couples and even for family retreat. Will recommend to those who want a little luxury in CM. Thank you to all the staff.

This hotel is located outside the city in a quiet, jungle-like setting with lovely air-conditioned, clean bungalows. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was very good and the breakfast buffet had a veriety of food to choose from. For the price, this was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at and would certainly stay here again. A free shuttle service was offered to and from the night bazaar for shopping. Internet service was offered at an extremely low price compared to other hotels.

good an clean. no need to hire expensive. use clean and good enugh for travelling an enjoying outside much better. so u only sleep in good price and clean hotel is the best choice of us.

Rimping Village was by far the best hotel we found in Thailand. I have waited to the end of our honeymoon to write this review because this is our first time in Thailand and I thought that maybe all hotels in this wonderful country are like that, but no, this one is a real gem and you won't regret staying there. We have stayed at pricier 5 stars hotels and didn't get the same feeling we got from Rimping Village. The staff is absolutely wonderful, they did above and beyond what is expected from a hotel staff to make sure we enjoy our stay! We needed to exchange money at a late hour - they sent someone to do it for us. We thought about going to Chiang Rai and asked some questions, they continue searching for options and info and approached us like half an hour later with photo copies of travel books and prints from web sites. And I'm not even talking about one special employee, but every one of them, in the restaurant, in the reception, everywhere... Beside that, rooms are wonderful, very nice pool, very good breakfast, close to everything and if you need to go someplace far (like the big temple) again someone from the hotel staff will call a Tuk Tuk and negotiate the price for you

We had a room next to the pool restaurant. It was perfect for sunny chill out. Also very easy to get a cheap cab to nearby malls and attractions. What a great hot vegi ckn asian and continental breakfast. Super kindly staff who will help you 24/7. We felt home with them.

At first I was hesitant to stay at Chu due to its location a distance away from old city and the mixed reviews on breakfast selection. I'm glad in the end I chosen Chu as my lodging in CM. Yes, it was a distance from old city but also closer to the warorot market and some cool cafe and restaurants. Anyway, the transport is not an issue in CM, just 5 minutes drive to old city. Breakfast options were good, you can choose like 4-5 main dishes and sides you have porridge, fruits, yoghurt with muesli, pastries and salad. This is definitely worth the money you paid. Oh please, don't expect 5 stars breakfast buffet when you are not paying 5 stars price. Only only one down side, there's lots of mosquito!! I basically had to open and close the door in few seconds each time with just a small opening, the Mosquitos were all lining up to attacking you! I noticed second floors have lesser mosquitos. Hope the Management could do something about it. Overall, I had a pleasant stay in Chu :)

My friend and I were satisfied with our stay. The only downfall was booking a double bed room and getting an one bed room upon arrival. This seemed to be a trend as this was the second hotel during our Thailand trip that switched us without notice. In both instances, they had the same excuse when the could tell we were irritated... "the ac is broken in the double bed room." Once, sure, but at both hotels, feels like an excuse to give the room to someone else. Otherwise, rooms appeared to be really new with a clean bathroom, big flat-screen TV and nice landscaping. We tried the free breakfast one morning and never ate it again. It was quite an odd mix of spam, white bread, lettuce, tomato, a small salad and milk. The staff helped us book two trips (elephant visit and fishing). The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to the main downtown area of Chiang Mai.

We loved this hotel! Check in was very easy and the modern accommodations were wonderful. We particularly loved the bathroom with walk-in cement shower. They provided daily bottled water and kept everything nice and neat. The room cooled down quickly and was quite comfortable. We appreciated the quiet location. It was an easy walk to a main street were you could flag down a taxi and go just about anywhere for about 80 baht. The market closest to the hotel had great street food and we found a great local restaurant within walking distance (they didn't speak English but we had one of the best, authentic Thai dinners of our whole vacation). The hotel is gated for security. We had told the security guard we would be out late and he let us in when we returned. Not everyone speaks English but we never had any trouble having our requests met; for instance, they arranged a motorbike and got us to the airport easily and cheaply. We would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

The staff was amazing! I’ve booked a Family suite and they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom suite for free. It was great, the room is beautiful, the little pond in front of the room and all the gardens made us feel like we weren’t in the city, it was so nice! The hotel is not far from the old city and they provide transportation to the night bazar. For us the location was great, specially because we went to the Bangkok Hospital and the hotel provided a van to take us there. The kids loved the 2 swimming pools. Breakfast was great, all kinds of eggs were amazing! They served us even though we were too late for breakfast. They also provide breakfast in room for the suite. They gave us a late check out for free. The staff went out of their way to make us happy! Everything was great! We are a family of 6, with two small babies and we all had a very pleasant time there. We loved our stay at Shewe Wana.

I loved this new clean comfortable quiet hotel in Changmai. If i could give more stars i would. Nicest hotel i stayed in while visiting Khon Kaen and Changmai.

we were so surprised when we arrived at this hotel. when you show up, the area of town is not all that great. you're away from the main attractions, in a fairly run-down area, and not immediately next to any restaurants or night-life options. but when you entered, it was as if you stepped into a different world. there are plants everywhere and it's so green you forget you're in the heart of a city. you couldn't even hear the traffic from the road immediately outside most of the time. so great. plus, the breakfast was excellent (and included!) the only concerns i had were: 1.) the price of the spa. they only offered packages and there was no option for a true "budget traveler." i'd have loved to have gone there, but when there are cheaper places everywhere you do without the amenities. i simply wish they'd have offered some 1 hour packages that were of a less intense variety and for a value price. 2.) there were many staff members at the front desk who didn't speak much english and couldn't help us with basic questions about the city. one young man was fabulous though, and he deserves much praise. even as i say this, i acknowledge that the staff members were all doing the best they could and were very polite. 3.) the rooms don't lock well. you are given a padlock and a simple key to lock up your belongings, and at one point we locked our key in the room and were able to climb through our window (which wouldn't properly latch) and get inside without concern. they had a safe for the important stuff - but this would be an area i hope they'd improve upon, especially being in the heart of the city. overall i would highly recommend the shewe wana - it's a distance from the old city - but nothing a cheap tuk tuk ride can't handle with ease.

We choose Swiss Lanna because of the authentic Thai feel of the house. We were not disappointed. The whole house is in original Thai style and very elegantly decorated. The best part of the house for me was the huge balcony were I spent hours to watch both sunrise and sunsets. Rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable With air con and fan. We wanted to stay on the outskirts of the hussle and bustle of the city so that we could feel the calm and hear the nature sounds but getting into town with a Tuk tuk was just 150 bhat. What makes Swiss Lanna special is its staff, Miss Toto and all her staff makes you feel part of the family. This certainly rates as one of the Best accomodation we had.

Super helpful staff, went out of their way to help even when they didn't need to. They recommended good and cheap things to do as well. Blue daily elephant tour was the best! The breakfast was basic but good enough. The rooms were good. A bit far from town but quiet area and an uber or grab is very cheap to get, and there are some nice street food options around. The only thing id recommend changing is putting fly screens in the rooms, cos i didn't want to open the windows because of the mosquitos. Personable and rememberable stay. Will stay again though. Thanks heaps :)

Good location, nice rooms, we had a connected room which was excellent. The only negative about this hotel is the restaurant it is not great for evening meals. Not a great choice, service could be better. A real chef with new ideas would vastly improve the restaurant. Not many eat in the evening. Breakfast time is busy as it is included in the rates!

This was the nicest room for the price that I've ever had. It's all brand new, and very comfortable. The location was perfect for us, but we weren't there as tourists. For a tourist it might be a little too far away from the action, but you can always rent a motorcycle. ;)

The room is very clean and big. With breakfast included make it so cheap. However you still need to have a car.

I loved staying at De Wiang Kum Kam. While it was a little out of Chiang Mai center, I felt like I was getting an authentically Thai experience, and genuinely felt like I was a part of the owner's family. Nothing was too much trouble for him! I rented a scooter to get around, and the owner called the rental company and arranged for them to deliver a scooter to the hotel for me to rent -- 20 minutes later I was scooting around all the ruins and temples in the area. Was only a 10-minute ride into the walled city area. I would absolutely recommend this place again for someone who wants something with a "rural" feel just a short drive away from the buzzing restaurant, bar, & shopping scene in Chiang Mai

For this price, I have found this hotel is beyond my expectation. They have key card at the front gate, TV, WiFi, A/C, water heater. The rooms for daily guest are on the ground floor, the upper floor I assume that it's for monthly tenant. For the bed, as we have booked 2 rooms, the bed in one room is nice but the bed in the other room is too soft which made us not so comfortable. I would have added one more star in Facilities if the hotel had electric plug at each side of the bed to charge mobile phone (the plugs are too far from bed), and another star in Facilities if the hotel had more light in the room as it was too dark in the room. This hotel also have a lot of parking, washing machines and cafe. After all, it's worth my money. I recommend this hotel and may visit again.

I stay in Room 3 which is next to the poor. The room is nice and clean with enough space for additional bed. The bathroom is nice and well equipped. The owners and their staffs are very helpful and supportive. They are taking a very good care of us. If we plan to be back to Chiangmai, we will definitely stay in this hotel again! Highly recommended.

Pros: The building was attractive, especially the internal courtyard area. The family room that we stayed in was very large. It had a double and 2 single beds (not the bunk beds shown on the photo - that room was being refurbished). The pool was pleasant. Cons: The beds were very hard, the bath looked amazing but it would have taken too much water and time to fill so was not practical, the large windows looking into the courtyard let in noise - a big group stayed at the hotel when we did and we were disturbed by them shouting in the early evening and early morning. The breakfast room was not big enough for the number of people trying to eat. The staff did their very best to help us find a space at breakfast and were trying to restock the food, but it felt very crowded. Overall: The appearance of many parts of the hotel was lovely and the staff were very helpful, but we did not find it practical or comfortable enough for us.

Hotel is great high speed internet, swimming pool "salt water" fitness breakfast had a good assortment at the Buffett but you should get their early before 9 am the food might not be as hot, orange juice is pretty decent toast with the jam and butter is pretty nice also try the thai food and fresh eggs, many ppl say its far away from the main city, i can walk home drunk 2 KM, make sure you walk down the right road and you will be there faster night bazzar is also close, best to walk toward the night bazzar by going up the road by the hospital or you can take the longer way. thai friendly staff always welcoming very few back packers, so the rooms are very clean shower is nice lots of water pressure, flat screen tv lots of channels in english, a/c has remote also has a small couch the bed is comfortable daily cleaning and new towels everyday just press the button when your ready for cleaning by the door :) also free 2 bottles of water, also the owner was very kind in giving me a ride to the airport for 200 baht for 2 ppl after hours 10pm im very greatful for this and will always stay at this hotel in the future hotel is very quiet and relaxing.

Me and my girlfriend had a fantastic stay in this cute hotel. Every room is special, it is decorated and furnished in Burmese, Japanese, Thai, Chinese or Swiss style. We had the burmese room for a week, an the japanese room for 2 nights. The area is very quiet, so it's good for relaxing as there is no noise. We also got the breakfast twice, once thai and once french breakfast (which was cooked by the french hotel owner). It was great and also cheap. For the whole time of the stay we booked a motorbike, so we're able to drive around. It is about 5-10 minutes to go to the center of the city. It was hard to say goodbye to the nice employees and to the cute dog Mee. If we're visiting Chiang Mai again i will book for sure again this hotel!

This was a great budget Hostel. I stayed in one of the bungalows which was fun to switch it up. Mosquito net was provided, so bugs weren’t bad while sleeping even though it was buggy near the river. The hostel itself was pretty basic with coffee/tea and kitchen available all for a fee. They were helpful to book transportation/tours and also allowed an early check in and storage of belongings/use of facilities after check out, but had a bit of difficulty understanding my English at times. Overall good budget Hostel.
