Traveling to Greece? Find Athens hotels

Location: The Athens Cypria is in the middle of the main road (shopping area with stores like H&M, Zara, Mango, etc) leading to Syntagma Square. It is very easy to find. Within walking distance to everything. Breakfast: the usual basic cold cuts breakfast, but what makes it special are their walnuts, dates, dried apricots, good selection of tea, very nice breads & yummy cake. Staff: The staff are very efficient & accommodating. They gave us packed bfast at 5am, allowed us to leave our luggages for 2 days, called a taxi for us at 5am. Rooms: are big compared to the other Athens hotel that we stayed in. Rooms looks new. Lobby: is very nice with several couches & tables, where you can comfortably wait before your departure. Bar: they also have a nice bar with the full view of the Acropolis. I will definitely recommend Athens Cypria Hotel.

We booked the Sofitel as we had an early flight the next morning. As we had been in Athens earlier on in our trip we decided it was easier to stay at the airport location rather then go back into Athens. The check in and check out were both extremely fast and efficient. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. As l had read previous reviews about the price of food at the hotel we walked across the road to the airport and found plenty of reasonably priced food available. Tea and coffee facilities were in the room which was an added bonus as we have not found many hotels in Greece providing this facility . In the morning it was literally a 2 minute walk into the airport. It was a very pleasant stay at a well run and friendly hotel.

Friendly staff, unusual room decor but spacious, clean and comfortable accommodations. The hotel is split into two so going for breakfast requires coming down one elevator and taking another. The views from the restaurant is breathtaking, especially at night. The breakfast is absolutely fabulous and tastes like it is traditional home made Greek food. The rooms and bathroom could use additional power outlets and shelves to keep clothes but that is trivial. The location cannot be beat! A couple of blocks to Syntagma Square and the main artery of shopping in Plaka is a 100 yards away. Around the back is Marks and Spencer’s. A 10 minute walk to Acropolis! If you want to see most of what Athens can offer there is no better hotel or location than this one. The staff are ever-so-friendly providing helpful recommendations. There is a grocery store right next door for anything you need. Tons of restaurants all around. We stayed 3 nights and loved it! We will be returning for one more. A++++

Initially booked Athenaeum Grand but was redirected to Athenaeum Palace, which was equally fantastic hotel located just about 150m adjacent. Location is very convenient with bus stop just outside the hotel, 24hrs convenient store and metro is just 3 stops away. The room was awesome!! New amenities and also comes with a handy which is VERY useful for tourist not having data on your mobile. Breakfast was a simple spread but was more than enough to keep us satisfied; you couldn't ask for more. And the most importantly and the best part of the stay is the STAFF!! Oh yes, they have the friendliest staff of whole Greece :) From their guest relation staff to front office staff and their porter, is the most friendliest and most helpful bunch of people you could ever ask for!! We would give every single star to all of them and the service they provided. Most recommended to stay.

So far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in Europe. Their service was exceptionally GOOD. I lost my passport on the first day I arrived Athens, the hotel receptionist helped me out to contact the embassy and assisted me to the nearest police station. Fortunately, three days later, someone from the Ministry of Culture in Athens has found my passport, however I couldn’t collect from the person by myself as I was in Santorini and so I asked if the receptionist named Ellia (lady who works for the evening shift) could collect on behalf of me. The next day she collected for me before going to work and that is why I need to give her a big shoutout. The hotel manager knew that I’ve lost my money and everything and so he gave me a 50% discount and have upgraded me to a suite room facing the acropolis. Location is great, just a 20mins walk to acropolis. Breakfast choices are limited however it’s delicious. Room is clean and the bathroom is super big. Overall, 100% recommended to stay here!

After some complications with our room - we had booked a Spa Suite, which was no longer available. The staff did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They compensated us with a complimentary dinner in their own restaurant, which I must say was one of the best meals we had in Greece - and one of the best Views of the Acropolis. Staff in all areas of the Hotel were very welcoming and helpful. Athens Status Suites is only a small hotel, but makes up for it with their friendly attitudes. Make sure you go to the rooftop bar for a great view around sunset. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

I have booked this hotel for me and my friend. It was short trip to get to know Athens. Hotel was amazing, easy to find, good value for money and the stuff- helpful and nice to everyone. I recommend this hotel we were really satisfied.

A for Athens hotel is very well located in the main center of Athens. It has the most amazing view of the Acropolis. The restaurant at the top floor is excellent to relax after a day of sightseeing. Also, within walking distance we were able to access a great variety of restaurants with live music which our kids loved. Breakfast is sufficient for the few days anybody will spent. We did get a great value for our money.

I planned to stay 2 nights at Ares Athens hotel, but ended up staying for 7 nights! I immediately felt home and safe in this hotel, because of the 24 hour reception. Nikos, who was there almost 24/7, is very friendly and helpful. Although, they don't advertise breakfast, there is a small area where you can have tea or coffee and a chocolate croissant every morning as a service. I stayed in a frontside room at the 4th floor. Windows isolate sound pretty good for a good night's rest. Omonia metrostation is around the block and very close by. If you want to go to the touristic city center, I recommend to take a metro from here to Monastiraki (1 stop) and you are right in the middle of shops, restaurants and sight seeing starting points. For solo (female) travellers it is best to take the metro to avoid having to walk the shady streets in the area. During the day it's ok, but in the evening and at night, avoid the smaller streets. Location of the hotel is safe as it is on a main street.

We enjoyed our one night stay at the Melia Athens Hotel and wish we had stayed for more nights! We were given a free upgrade to a larger room, which was quite spacious, with a comfy bed, jacuzzi tub & rain shower. The hotel staff was quite helpful and gave us lots of information about sights in Athens. If we'd stayed longer we would have loved to try the spa!

Had a short but very comfortable stay at Hilton Athens Hotel. Very efficient check in and welcoming staff. Was accommodated into a beautiful and spacious room, impeccably clean, with modern and minimalist design. For a Greek hotel, the staff is very friendly. Had a great dinner at the roof top restaurant and a drink at the the sky bar. Well made martini under the stars with spectacular view of the akropolis as well as the whole athens skyline. Bed was super comfortable and had a short but refreshing sleep. Next morning checked out as efficiently as I checked in. The hotel has great location and something which is important, the metro is just 100 m away. This is important because Athens is known for the transport system strikes and often people can't get to or from the airport. So, at least an alternative is within reach. The cons are expensive internet and beverages for Greek standards but not far from other hotels in Athens. I still recommend the hotel.

I did expect that The Golden Age of Athens would be a pleasant hotel but the hotel, its staff and services have surpassed my expectations. The help desk was truly helpful (Thank you Eleni!!!) The rooms were spacious and very neat as well as modern and the breakfast was one of the best I've had on my travels. Thank you!!!

Stayed here a total of 6 days on trip to Greece. In the centre of 02 metro station(including straight line to airport as part of the Olympic Games requirement) , buses to connect to everywhere. Straight line to downtown. Great neighbourhood. Less dodgy than downtown and Syntagma Square. Safe area at night. Simple breakfast spread. Rooms are a little old, but good enough. Request for higher floors for great views of Athens, request for lower floors if you want more space to put your bags. Very recommended!

Not bad for an Athens hotel. Not quite sure if its really 5 star. Its well positioned for a brisk walk to the nice cafes and good shopping area of the city.Very close to the gallery and war museum.

We always stay at this hotel each time we are in Athens. Staff are nice and always helpful, location is only minutes away from the shopping centre and the town hall where you can watch the changing of the guards. Best thing about this hotel is the rooftop, where you can watch the sunset with the city of Athens in full view as well as the Acropolis. Room is spacious to move around and is always clean. Fully recommended.

This hotel needs to seriously have an upgrade on its linen, pillows in the room were disgusting, yellow and stained had to get new ones, there was no way I was sleeping on them. The bath mat was in threads, and all mats were like that everyday ! The shower curtain needed replacing it was covered in pink mould and black spots of mould. The shower leaked so badly that hand towels had to be used as floor mats to soak it up . The hotel looked very regal but it is very old when you get close up. The breakfast room needed an extra waiter as many times the tables had not been cleaned down, and we needed to replace table cloths ourselves. No bowls, no milk, no cutlery, had to go looking for them, then when we get them they are not dry still wet. Something that resemble scrambled eggs were supplied daily and that was the only choice and microwaved bacon! Sometimes if you were lucky there might have been the odd small sausage left! Found only one girl at reception helpful the others were not so concerned with hello or goodbye. I'm sorry but I could not recommend a long stay to my friends as I strongly think this hotel doesn't even meet the 3star standard that is stated. We needed to extend our stay in Athens and there was no way we could stay in that particular room for any longer. The only positive was it was in an convenient spot in Pireaus!

From the moment you enter, the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are fine (we had a balcony), but the true selling point for us this trip was having breakfast and late evening drinks on the rooftop terrace with views of the acropolis and surrounding area. Plaka is steps away (one block) and Hadrian's gate is directly across the street. This will be my go-to hotel in Athens.

My husband and I are staying here on our honeymoon and could not be more pleased with this hotel. The staff go out of their way to help you with anything you need, the decor is clean and modern, and the location is ideal. You can walk to all the major sites easily, and at the end of the day, you can relax at this little oasis on a quiet street, away from the bustle. We like it so much, we canceled our trip to Hydra and extended our stay two more days! We will definitely stay here again next time we come to Athens.

I stayed in Central Athens hotel during winter, room is quite good, clean and warm (I love the heater working good during cool time) The staff very helpful, the have information regarding Athens and Grece, train schedule, taxi, and how to reach tourist area. Absolutely recommended hotel in Athens

We enjoyed our stay at the Novotel Athenes Hotel hotel very much. The hotel is modern, very clean and a great place to stay in Athens. We were pleased that the hotel was located in a quieter part of Athens, but was in reasonably close walking distance to the train station. There were nice little cafes and shops quite close to the hotel, which was also very handy.

this is a top-class hotel with a great history and first rate service. the decor is wonderful and the rooms are very comfortable. one of the great selling points is the upstairs restaraut which has a simply fatastic view of the acropolis (and the rest of athens) that we never tired of. the staff were very attentive and it is no suprise that everyone of importance has stayed here over the years.my only critism (very small) is that starwood need to get a modern approach to internet conection. this is now a standard throughout the world and to have to pay for wi-fi is simply an annoyance that we could all do without. in every other respect a luxurious place to stay that will add to the pleasure of the athens experience.

We had a LOVELY time in Ariston, mainly due to the following factors: (1) Its location (2) the staff (Sophia & Martina) (3) the room Located a stone's throw from Station Larissis is this beautiful hotel at an affordable price. Easy to find. When you exit the subway station, just look around you and u will see it. It is a corner unit. Being away from the touristy part of Athens meant that it was quiet and being close to the subway station meant that we could get to any place we wanted to conveniently. Approximately 3-4 stops to Monastiraki and Syntagma. There isn't a lot going on in this part of town, but you can find a Carrefour opposite the hotel (abt 3 minutes walk) and bakeries near by. The National Archeological Musuem is about a 10 minute walk straight down the road beside Ariston- which makes this hotel a great place to stay for your first day in Athens. We didn't find it to be noisy. Some noise from traffic was there of course, but they were faint as the rooms had very solid proofing. Hotel is abt an hour from the airport by subway, and about 40 mins by cab. The staff at the reception were wonderful- in particular Sophia and Martina, who were so incredibly warm and gracious. You were both simply outstanding!! We were lucky to get a corner room with had 3 (yes THREE) small balconies with views of the city roads and the train station. As mentioned earlier, in spite of being by the road, the noise never bothered us. The room was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable beds (not hard) and pillows, with your basic room facilities like mini fridge, bathtub, safe deposit box, hairdryer, tv. The room and hotel itself is beautiful and is very reasonably priced if you compare it to other hotels in more popular areas monastiraki and the likes.

We stayed at Titania for two nights, our first two nights for a Grecian honeymoon. Titania was the perfect place to come to first. The staff's genteel attitude lent an air of elegance to the lobby, and the rooftop meals were delicious and paired well with a beautiful view. We took a 30 euro taxi ride to Titania, (affordable and quick) from the airport. We also suggest that couples download the "lime" app and ride electric scooters around Athens to get around. Our concierge directed us to a nearby euro bank to exchange currency at a much better rate than the airports. The only negative criticisms I have were that the bathroom was very small and the exercise room was as well. I have since gathered that bathrooms are typically small in Greece, so this was no exception. Furthermore we never used the gym as we found plenty of opportunities to burn calories trekking around the city.

A great boutique hotel with a friendly relaxed vibe in the midst of a lively restaurant and bar precinct. Easy to walk to the main attractions of Athens - and the flea markets in the neighborhood are brilliant. Our room in the hotel was spacious and well set up. The mobile they provide for (free!) use is an amazing bonus.

+ close to metro and touristic area + very good breakfast + nice people that are working there - in the evening, you don`t feel safe on the streets near the hotel - the area is quite noisy, there is a bus parking place in front of the hotel Overall, I recommend the place for a weekend in Athens, good value for money.

It's been a wonderful stay in Holiday Inn Athens Attica Avenue Airport Hotel. Actually, I was deciding between a hotel just next to the airport and Holiday Inn when I was booking a place to stay for the night before my flight. And I choose Holiday Inn because it's much cheap (it's like 70 euro cheaper), though it is not so close to the airport. It costed by 20 euro to get from the airport to the hotel (I took the metro from Piraeus to Airport, and then took a taxi to the hotel that night) . The room was clean and free wifi was available. The best part about the hotel was that it provided free shuttle bus from the hotel to airport. Overall, I think this is a great value of money.

Our family was in Athens on vacation, and we had a great stay! The staff was excellent - super polite and willing to do anything to help us out. We paid extra to upgrade to the club lounge, and it was worth it - calm and relaxing, great food, good views. Location is a little out of the heart of Athens, but it was about a 20-30 min walk to Plaka / Acropolis, or quick 3-4 euro taxi ride. The check-in was a little slow and could be improved, but that's about all that I'd recommend changing.

Nothing was too much trouble. When we arrived at 0600 with drenched luggage, staff were very helpful. We were dry again and checked into our lovely room by lunchtime - 2 hours before the earliest check-in time. Location is great - within easy strolling distance of Plaka, without the high prices and crowds. We will book here every time we come to Athens.
