Great little place on the Mekong, interesting history and how the walking street area came to be as it is.
Tiny village along with Khong river (natural border between Thai and Laos) is perfect place for lover because they can hold-hand walking on terrace next by river and this village perfect for family and friends because you can take a boat for sightseeing in Khong river, shopping at night market (there 're a lot of cool & cute souvenir in cheap price).
A recommended place for relaxation and for nature. enjoy the cool weather in Dec. Easy access via Loei and visits many places by cycling
it is very interesting place to go, where you can find very friendly local people, all day dining, you can go to local food shop, find something to eat at very cheap price.
The town itself is most attractive and olde world style, with al fresco restaurants on the pavement overlooking the River Mekong below.
Don't miss to walk on walking street and Buddhist monk's alms bowl in the morning. Sunset time also very nice on boat trip along the Mae Klong River.
Its a small fascinating city and is worth staying long. Phu Thork is the place you can't miss for eyeing the top scenic view of Mekhong river with sea of fog.
Small, lovely, old city by the Mae Kong River. Nice local food. Great place to live a slow life amid very friendly locals.
I would recommend it as a quiet getaway for a romantic couple weekend or for families with older kids, however without transport I wouldn't stay more than a couple of nights.
Shoul visit Chiangkhan in period of mid of November till beginning of February, you will get nice cold weather.
Quiet, small, self-sufficient city. very good for slow-life traveling or relaxation. Experiencing traditional sticky rice offering to monks is a must.
The river front area has a lot of old and new wooden houses. The promenade and the road that runs parallel are virtually vehicle-free, something that is very rare in Thailand.
I've been to Chiang Khan many times and over the years it has grown from a very boring Thai town into a Thai tourist destination.
Khan city to stay for a long as possible. With many cultural similarities with Laos. Enabling cultural worth to experience that.
Over all very clean town. Seemed like a destination for Thai people. Not many foreigners visiting the area.
It likes stepping back to the old time of Thailand 50 years ago. The atmosphere here is about the same as Laung Prabang in Laos.
Vintage look business, with cool weather. A little artificial, and could be found at Suan Root Fai at Chatuchak, so we did not spend too much time in there.
NOT MUCH TO DO IN CHIANGKHAN. FEW PLACES TO VISIT OUT OF TOWN BUT HAVE TO DRIVE YOURSELF. MARKET STREET IS REALLY GOOD TO STROLL ALONG.
Good scenery (in my case, unrivaled DRIVING experience in terms of gorgeous scenery offered on the way) fine dining, nice & friendly people, among all !!
Mahathat Temple is more than 300 years old. There's even an old restroom, colonial style, preserved in this temple.
