Traveling to Philippines? Find Dumaguete hotels

My friend and I chose to stay in the resort to end up our free&easy in Dumaguete . The resort is located in Dauin where is famous for scuba diving . It is inconvenient to give an insight into local life as the resort is far away from the Dumaguete city , . So you may only have food in the resort . We booked an individual villa for one night , AC ran well and that outdoor showing space was the bright spot of the room ! We were also amazed by its fine designed environment and amenities , staffs were friendly and welcoming . I will highly recommend my friends to stay in the Atomsphere Resort & Spa .

One of the best small hotels I have stayed in, immaculate throughout, very nice room with large, comfortably furnished balcony overlooking the sea, quiet efficient AC, flat screen TV, WiFi in every room. Decent sized swimming pool and some comfortable, shady seating areas. The beach was very rocky and difficult to walk on even in beach shoes but we were aware of that before we booked so not a problem. Good restaurant, good mix of meals with a specials board every day. You can also request a meal to be cooked, as I did, and can recommend the seared tuna with teriyaki sauce. Something I did not expect was an English breakfast. The staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We went into the local town Dauin, not much to see, some shops small market and old church. You can top up on your crisps (try the local pork crackling – called Ticheron I think). I can recommend the local Tanduay rum which we bought from a small shop in the market. You can get the air-conditioned bus into Dumaguete, just walk to the road and flag it down. Could not figure out the price, 100 pesos going and 200 pesos coming back. The jeepney is much cheaper at about 30 pesos. Getting around Dumaguete is easy using the tricycles, only 8-10 pesos around town. There is a large market, old church and sea front boulevard with good restaurants. We only went on one trip from the hotel, swimming with whale sharks. The hotel driver took us to the ferry port where we took the boat to one of the other islands, where he waited whilst we were taken by dugout canoe into the bay where we swam with the whale sharks. Very good experience.

This hotel is new and the staff is very attentive. Like all dumaguete hotels, there are some water pressure issues, but other than that, it was perfect. It's not on the boulevard, but it's very close to the center

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Essencia. It was said to be the newest and biggest hotel in Dumaguete City. It offered affordable room rates, complete facilities - nice and clean room and bathroom. They also have free wifi within the hotel, although wifi is not that strong inside the room, one has to stay at the side of the room near the door to get strong signal. The staff at the lobby were nice and very accommodating, we had a lot of requests and inquiries and they patiently answered each and every one of our questions. Im glad i stayed at this hotel, I would really recommend it to all my friends going to Dumaguete.

It was a great stay for me in Dumaguete with Fish Unlimited. It was a quaint resort that offers good service. We stayed at the premier deluxe room that has a newly renovated outdoor restroom. What drew me to book the place was actually the beautiful restroom-- hence I did have a high expectation of it. Ended up not using it because of yellow brown water which the resort claims to be natural underground volcanic water. While it may be true, i just hope they have a facility to clean and filter the water so that it doesn't appear dirty. The bathtub itself was inviting, but the water was not. The room was very big for 2 people. I also did not expect to get another room inside our room so that was a big bonus. The hotel wasn't strict with all these rules and regulations - such a welcoming atmosphere...therefore encouraging me to stay a second time with them should I visit Dumaguete soon. They allowed me to bring my friends over for a chill afternoon when we got left behind from our supposed Apo Island tour. Great dinner menu... It was very big portions. Hope you can improve on the serving size of your breakfast menu. :)

If you are willing to stay outside of Dumaguete proper, I would suggest you might enjoy Florentina as it provides a decent restaurant and pool. The shower was hot and AC was cold. Tv was fine (cable ) but the wifi was a little slow after earl morning. The restaurant is ok, marginal depending on what you order (barbeque ribs were fine ) Breakfast was adequate although they were out of pancakes??????? The pool is a highlight, it is empty or close o empty at many times day or evenings but it was a little dissapointing seeing a larg family come in and enter the pool without showering and wearing street clothes. Although you come to expect this kind of thing in the Philippines it is a little disappointing that the hotel does not enforce it's own posted rules. The room was quiet, had a little balcony. The decor is a sort of tex mex fusion so expect bright colors. The bed was fine. I would choose it again as a fine couples destination because I dont care about the town / nightlife/ waterfront

My wife and I have done some extensive traveling across the Philippines the past 20 months and Pura Vida is perhaps the finest place we've found. As American's we are accustomed to certain standards that we used to take for granted. Pura Vida resort lives up to that kind of American standard. The staff was really helpful and friendly. The facilities wonderful. Food was delicious with many choices to enjoy. The beauties of the area are abundant but don't miss what is under the water. We are not divers, but enjoy snorkeling and found this area to be among the most beautiful we've ever seen. Vivid coral, giant sea turtles, and fish aplenty. If you're looking for an outstanding place to see some of the best beauties of the earth, this is it. I highly recommend Pura Vida and it's friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Love this resort, it’s around 30-40 mins away from Dumaguete city. It’s a place to relax and have an enjoyable time with my family. Marine sanctuary is 15 mins walking distance, we went there for the snorkelling, love it.

Beautify dive resort/hotel, but not optimal for business travel. Though I've heard this is the best hotel in Dumaguete. Great food.

We enjoyed our two night stay at Thalatta Resort very much. It is located not far from Dumaguete (less than an hour on the bus) and a short walk from the National Road. This resort has the most beautiful gardens surrounding a large salt-water pool with a lovely waterfall. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable (although the air-con was a little noisy and the door lock a bit fiddly to lock/unlock). The bathroom was exceptionally nice - spacious, nice vanity, generous shower recess, and with a big window facing a small private garden. The food was very good (although a little on the pricey side for the Philippines). We visited Apo Island on the resort's boat (best rates are for a group of five or more) where we snorkeled and enjoyed the coral, brightly coloured fish and a few sea turtles. Would go back there again.

The newest hotel in Dumaguete. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were accommodating and attentive. The Spanish restaurant served really good tapas and callos. The only downside is that they do not have an elevator. But it’s perfect for a short stay.

This is probably the best hotel in Dumaguete City. The Space nicely designed, much like boutique hotels you would only expect to see in Manila. The staff were very courteous and friendly. the rooms are really clean, the sheets smell nice. the spa is not to be missed as the prices are really dirt cheap. it is a bit away from the city though but can easily be reached by taking a trike. the shower space though is a bit cramped.

We were absolutely in love with the hotel. It is outside of Dumaguete, but that's definitely worth it! The resort is so beautiful and relaxing that you don't want to leave it. For everyone going to Apo Island, it has the perfect location, too. It is only 5 minutes away from the market where all the boats to the island depart. The rooms are extremely clean and the bed is very big and comfortable, and since the resort is by the beach and in a quiet neighborhood, I had the best sleep there. The food in the restaurant is great, too, and they have big portions. We originally planned to only stay for 2 nights but extended for one more. Would love to stay here again.

Was supposed to stay there for 3 nights in the superior suite but modified our booking to 2 nights with an upgrade to the pool villa. The staff were very accommodating and prompt in answering my calls. We had a van transfer from dumaguete city, and upon arrival, it was just simply breathtaking. My colleagues would just say 'wow' nonstop. The way the pool villa is situated at the edge of the cliff, with a picturesque view of the ocean and how the moonlight reflects on it was amazing. The villa had its own pool and outdoor solo jacuzzi, the bed was comfortable and the staff was kind enough to add beds for the other two companions who I was with. Bathroom was spacious, with closet. Water supply was not a problem. A/C was working well. Woke up with a scenic view before me, the pool and sea. The view was so spectacular that we decided to have our dinner on the second night arranged by the pool, with that great view. We had our Bose speaker with us so it was a great complement to the ambiance. Pool was in no way cold so you could just swim all day and all night if you want to. Cons: There aren't any. It's just that the location is far away from the city (around an hour road trip), and it is better to take van transfers for comfort and convenience as it is really tucked away from the city. Though far, the travel is well worth it especially if you'd end up staying in that unforgettable, quiet and peaceful abode. It's an eight thumbs up from the four of us that stayed there in pool villa 5.

We booked the Salaya as a last minute escape and the one night we stayed here was the highlight of our trip. Everything from the exceptional service, unbelievable view, beautiful grounds, delicious food and luxury accommodations. Just WOW!! Anyone staying near, around Dumaguete should treat themselves to at least one night in this secret paradise. It will not disappoint.

I am mostly in awe of its aesthetic and the fact that this used to be the iconic CAP building in the city. Millennials would love the hotel given its "Instagrammable" interior. The place is also clean and well-maintained. It's just a bit pricey so not for local budget travellers. They also have to improve on their communication (my service van came late in the airport and the driver said he wasn't informed of the time) and its connection to Agoda (my sister said they couldn't find the Agoda booking I booked for her.) But definitely, the most beautiful boutique hotel in Dumaguete.

I booked the suite room for only p1200.00 through Agoda. The room is big, clean and have an ocienview of Dumaguete. The hotel is located near the port, walking distance to Siliman University, sunset boulevard, the famous Sans Rival of Dumaguete and other nearby restaurants and coffee shop. The hotel is also near a department store and supermarket where you can buy some stuffs and "pasalubong" I will definitely stay in this hotel again and will recommend this to my friends and family.

Away from other hotels in Dumaguete (still just a 15-20 minutes drive), but that gave us a really quiet and unspoiled place. Beach is not very good. Whereas it is sandy, there are many stones as well, so we had to find a place with less stones. That's just 150 meters away. Astounding views from balcony.

The best thing about it was its location-- ten minutes from the airport (costs 120 pesos); 4 blocks from the bay walk; 2 blocks away from the public market where you can have a nice traditional local breakfast; close to banks and restaurants. I particularly appreciate the hotel's "what to do in Dumaguete in a day" advice. The staff were courteous and helpful. The bathroom was a lot more spacious than what is typically found in hotels of the same rating. Most flights into Dumaguete seem to arrive in the morning. So, if you want to check in early, it will cost you an additional 200 pesos. Overall, I recommend it and would consider staying here again.

I have stayed several times at this mid-range hotel and have always found it clean, cheerful and convenient The staff are extremely helpful and the food, while limited is of good quality. The have the best calamansi drink I tasted in all Philippines. Tangy. The rooms are basic but so is the price. They are clean and the shower works and is hot. Central Dumaguete with banks and ATM's handy I will stay there again

Very convenient location and definitely worth every penny of staying there. I traveled with my mom who is a senior citizen and lucky us that this hotel is just a walking distance to almost all of the touristy place in Dumaguete. It is right across the Silliman University signage, almost 3 minutes walking distance to the boulevard (#DumaGetMe signage), Tempurahan and also we just walked when we went to the port to ride the ferry going to Siquijor. It is around 5 minutes walk to the Sans Rival Bistro and Sans Rival Cake store. The room and the bathroom was just spacious and clean. The staff is very helpful, courteous and friendly. We arrived at 6AM and we started strolling at the boulevard and when we went back at around 830AM to use the lobby comfort room, we were fortunate enough that there has been a free room and we were able to check in early. I just love my stay here and will definitely book again at this hotel when go back to Dumaguete.

Place is clean & staff are great. I think best hotel in Dumaguete. Great location but not much choices in food.

We were a group of 3 adults and 1 kid, booked 2 rooms for 1 night, ate lunch and breakfast at their cafe. The rooms were old but clean with basic amenities. The free breakfast was budbod with suman, delicious and came with cheap room rates. Their cafe offered delicious all-day breakfast and other meals at affordable prices. Service was very good, deskfront open 24 hours, and you can store your luggage with them for pick up later in the day. Their location is nearer the airport than downtown but Dumaguete City is very small, everything is near, and most tricycle (regular commute around the city) drivers know the location and will deliver you at their doorstep, just say "Gabby's hotel in Daro".

Dumaguete is a wonderful city, located on one side at the sea with a wonderful view to the Island of Siquihor and Cebu, on the other side to the hills inside the island. With this hotel you can choose what view you like: the sea with the sunrise or the hills with the sunset. This time is had the sea view: what a colourful sunrise (at 5:30 am, i don't like to get up early, but it was worth). I recommend this hotel, it got my favorite place in Dumaguete. Why: - Great view, depending to what side you choose - Good and clean rooms with good equipment and working WiFi - Nice and helpful staff - Nice restaurant (breakfast included) on the top of the building with a wonderful panorama view and good meals - Good location with many shops, restaurants, malls and the cathedral in walking distance, with a 2 minutes’ walk to the Rizal Boulevard and the sea. Note: when you arrive by bus from the Ceres Liner bus station or come from the ferry terminal: the fee for a tricycle ride inside Dumaguete is 8 Pesos, with a bit bag maybe the double. They asked me 300 Pesos! I am a friendly person: I payed 20 Pesos.

a nice quiet place to relax away from town. fiendly staff. outside dumaguete city about 25 minutes but easy enough to get there if you want city life. they offer diving, but i just enjoyed the pools and decent food. brought 15 family members in from mindanao (wife is from philippines - i'm u.s.) and we all had a blast, no complaints. would definately stay there again. i had two deluxe rooms in addition to villa style, and they were both very comfortable as well. pamper yourself with the villa style room, it's worth the upgrade. vince, new york

The hotel is ideally located near the sibulan airport in dumaguete with only 3 to 5 minutes travel time. Its also just a few steps away from the City Mall, a major shopping center in dumaguete. They also offer free pick up from or to the airport, you just have to inform them about your flight details. The room is very cozy especially the sheets. No weird odour unlike in other cheap hotels. The aircon is functioning well, the TV has a cable connection, the CR has a bidet and the shower has a heater. The wifi is really fast. The staff was very accomodating and helpful. They also allow you to store food in their refrigerator. Definitely recommended

Dumaguete is a small town. Best thing they boast about is food. La Residencia has one of the best Spanish restos. All the other best restos are alongside it where you have Casablanca, Sans Rival cakes & pastries, etc. It's a short walking distance to Lee Plaza mall and to the City Center. Staff are very nice...makes you feel so much at home. The only downside here is wifi and network signal....quite poor when you are in the room.

We stayed in the cottage for 5 days. It was absolutely perfect. Since we brought our own wifi router we had not issues with connectivity. The property uses Cignal cable so it was easily the best we have had during our travels. Some issues with power, but the resort has a generator which alleviated any concerns we had. The beach is nice and the water clean to swim in. The pool was just spectacular and closed at our discretion. The restaurant staff is highly trained and experienced. The food was delicious and deserts were scrumptious. Do try the mango crepe! Allura is one of the best properties we have stayed at during our extensive travels in the Philippines. If you our planning at trip to Apo Island you can walk to the warf via the beach. The staff coordinated our transportation to Apo and Dumaguete. They took care of us very well and we shall not forget their smiles and kindness. One more thing, they have three kayaks that were a pleasure to use. As for the high performance Sea-Doo- pure adrenaline. If you are seeking an upscale property with intimacy and affordability then Allura is the one.

The ride from the airport to Sta Monica was about 20 minutes through a van with some traffic jam. It went through the downtown areas and the only proper mall on the island. The service of the hotel staff’s was very nice, you can enquire for all the information you need and they are very helpful. We stayed here for one night and had a very good experience. There were a lot of options in the breakfast buffet, with various kinds of meat.
