Traveling to Malaysia? Find Dungun hotels

We are on our way back to Kuala Lumpur after spending some time in Kuala Terengganu. I stumbled upon Ulek Beach Resort on Agoda after finding out Tanjong Jara was fully booked. We just wanted a 1-night stay as my husband has a short business meeting in Dungun. After reading the reviews and few pictures in Agoda, i decided to book one Standard room in Ulek Beach resort with additional bed. We did not expect much from a 3-star hotel in Dungun as we know that Dungun is a very small sleepy fishing town. Since it is the monsoon season, we don't really thought much about the beach either. The whole length of the road to Ulek Beach is lined with cheap homestays but Ulek Beach resort is almost at the end of the beach. From the facade, it is just a small lobby with a small cafe, but boy did we have a surprise when we entered towards the room. Lined were wooden semi-d chalets with quaint gardens with stream, a swimming pool and a small kids wading pool with slides. The room is big with a jacuzzi to boot! I really did not expect that from a 3-star hotel. All in all it was a pleasant short stay and the staff are really helpful. They don't speak much english, but they try their best to serve.

Everything that we can expect from budget hotel. Just wonder why the main lobby parked with a car (I believe own by the Hotel owner or manager). That area should be cleared so guest can load and unload their luggage under the shelter. (It was heavy rain during my stay).

Value for money. Good location, near to UITM, Politeknik, beach and town. During my stay, tv are not function, but i'm just go back for sleep and not bother too much about that. Recommended for hotel in Dungun.

Great place to stay with family. I love the cat (Coco) which staying there. Super cute & i love it.

I travel alot all around the world and this resort is one of the nicest places I've stayed. I booked one night but because it was so nice and the staff so friendly and nice I asked to stay another night. But unfortunately they were fully booked, as was every place in Dungun. The girl at the desk went way out of her way to get me a room. She went way above and beyond the call of duty. I was amazed how much this staff was so friendly,courteous, and just downrite awesome. They made me feel like I was royalty. I can't say enough good things about them. I will not only be a frequent visitor but I will be recommending them to all my friends!

The staffs are friendly and helpful. Location is very strategic (facing the beach, how i wish life is like this) and aplenty of delicious and cheap eateries. Overall, very satisfied and would love to stay for our next visit

The services are bad. Receptionist is rude and confusing. The homestay really needs to be clean and tidy. This is not meet our expectation at all. Dirty kicthen. The staff (name yaya) will dump all the problems to the manager / owner EnFahmi ( by phone). They just sit & doing nothing. I keep asking manager to come over reception to solve the problem but not turned up till the end. Since I spend 45min to check in, I fill fed up & walk off. The receptionist very annoying,no manner and courtesy. She not able to handle customer & solve the problem. No staff at the reception counter and the door are locked. You need to call early if you want check in/out. Be ware of your deposit. They will insist to transfer to your bank account maybe after few days. Its embarrassing and disappointed experience to be here in Dungun,Terengganu. I belive there are many others homestay around Dungun that can give better experience than this. Hope you guys take note. Last but not least, not recommended. TQ.

With agoda price this place was the cheapest and the best for the budget traveller. All homestay and guest house (for 2 pax) in Dungun are overpriced. With agoda i save a lot. Very recomeded this place.

I chose this hotel because of its central location as I was not driving. The location is excellent as it is near to eateries like Pizza Hut,KFC, Domino's and Marrybrown. There is also a roti canai restaurant in front of the hotel and some local stalls nearby. It is an old hotel but they have refurbished the bathroom and the room. The room that I stayed had a window airconditioner and the temperature could not be controlled but it was not that had as you can switch if off and use the ceiling fan if it gets too cold. There is no lift and expect to climb 33 flighs of stairs if your room is on the second floor. If you are a light sleeper,please ask a room further from the road as the hotel is located by the main road and it could get noisy early at night. The staff was great and attentive and she quickly changed the defective TV in my room and even sent me a Whatsapp message asking whether I wanted to have my room cleaned. Overall, a good choice of hotel if you don't have your own transport. There is an excellent Grab service there if you need to move around.

Over was super friendly, gave him a call to find the location. Room was clean, good to sleep, but ambiance could have been better. Bathroom could use a bit of cleaning / touch up. Less than a minute walk would bring you to the beach, dont think its for bathing though, waves looked rough.

Need to improve a lot on the cleanliness. Very poor and basic facilities such as toilet and kitchen area very bad.

This was our second visit to Tanjong Jara resort in Dungun. It is one of the best managed hotels/resorts in Malaysia, being part of the YTL group. The staff is very attentive, was aware that we had been there before. Although it's quite a long drive from Kuala Lumpur (about 4-5h), it's well worth the trip. Dungun itself is a quiet town, but you really don't need to go out of the resort as it has everything you need. The only remark is that there seemed to be some confusion at breakfast what was ordered by whom, and it took quite some time for our order to be brought to the table.

It is a comfortable hotel. Large room and basically clean. However for the kind of price we paid (RM172 per night), we would expect a better facilities. The facilities are basically those that we can find in much cheaper hotel. At least a mini fridge would be sufficient. And a nice (not torn and almost broken) iron board should be alright. Nonetheless, we had a nice stay in the hotel.
