We received a warm welcome, had a large comfortable room with panoramic views of the sea and excellent food.

Great value for money. Conveniently located near restaurants and a short walk from the beach. However, be warned: the desk is not manned at certain hours. We got back around 11:30 at night but didn't realize that the staff went off duty at 10PM (it was posted, but not as obviously as it should have been). Luckily one of the staff members happened to be around but reprimanded us for not informing them of our plans to come back "late". Other than that, a pleasant stay.

The place is beautiful and we got a nice sea facing room. Staff is very accommodating and nice to talk to.

reception have miserable attitude,request for ground floor and larger bed on booking ignored,disabled but given upstairs room no lift!.told they couldn't do half board for price we had already paid in full,not my problem I paid for what I wanted,regardless of price I paid,,told if not happy I can have my money back without them charging me a cancellation fee so I can ring other hotels to find a room!!! food very good waiting and room staff very good,entertainment ok if you are 70plus

The location of this hotel is absolutely fabulous, but it's a shame that it has such a dated interior and has such poor, bleak appearance. The first room that's been given to us had an unflushed toilet, a dirty cup in the bathroom sink and traces of sand in the bath tub. Luckily we've been given another one. The coffee was weak and the cooked breakfast was badly made. We haven't had serious issues with the hotel staff or the accommodation, but we like to give you an honest opinion, so the oweners can do something about it and change it for the better. It needs a lot of improvement in terms of appearance and staff management. Staff can be more professionally friendly and more customer orientated.

The Braemar is in a side street just near the 'Old Village' of Shanklin, a good location for pubs, shops, restaurants and bus stops. The rooms are clean and attended to daily, replenishing the linen and ample tea & coffee supplies. It is owned by a charming couple, who are very helpful and provide an excellent breakfast to set you up for the day. I would certainly stay there again.

The hotel located in a very good location since almost every room face the seaview. You can just open the window and let the air flows in to enjoy the beach and sea atmosphere. The size of the room was quite big. It has tall roof, however the hotel is a bit old. Opposite side of the hotel was a game center. The staff was kind. The breakfast was proper but too small size. The only bad big disadvantage was a shower bath. It was soooo slippery and dangerous for elderly people. (you have to ask for a bath mat from reception since it has never been provided in advance). The water in the bath was too hard to control. It took at least 5 minutes each time I want to use to adjust the proper temperature before start showering. The price was slightly too expensive.

Perfect hotel for a one night stay in Shanklin. The staff were really friendly throughout our stay and made us feel welcome. The room had all amenities for a one night stay, including extra pillows. There was plenty of food at breakfast. We couldn't have asked for anything more, especially for the price we paid. Would stay here again if we come back to the Isle of Wight.

Booked this as we wanted to be close to the centre, we contacted the hotel direct and the owners were very polite and helpful, this was extended when we arrived. Lovely clean room plenty of space and free to come and go as we pleased. Breakfast was very good and plenty of choice. No hesitation in staing again.

I have come back well rested , food was good, good night's sleep each night. Have recommended it to friends and family, will look forward to going back soon.

Very relaxing. Loud music playing from downstairs entertainment so probably wouldn't recommend to families with babies .

The staff were friendly and helpful, the place was clean and tidy, and I the method of filling out a breakfast request the night before meant there was no waiting and no confusion. The food was hot and good quality and we would definitely stay there again.

Stayed here for a few days. Hotel is in a perfect location, on the seafront walking distance to shops and restaurants and the pier. Hotel has a lovely indoor heated pool. Rooms are a bit dated but very clean. Would stay here again

The Havelock is ideally located in Shanklin, a short distance from the Chine, the seafront and the Old Town with plenty to see and places to eat. It’s also possible to leave the car behind and arrive by the quirky Island line 1940s underground train, which is 10 min brisk walk away. It’s not a cheap hotel but you do pay for the location. Amenities include a heated pool which we used. Only downside was the double bed which had a mattress which had seen better days and was uneven. Enjoyed our short stay and would recommend.

room number 19 needs blackout curtains.as you have large lights outside of room and you can not sleep at night.we had a nice stay .it was only for one night .we will come again but not a room near the lights at front of hotel.

We spent a week here during the October 2017 half term. A clean and comfortable hotel with friendly staff. The kids loved the pool and went swimming every day. Perfect location, can walk or take the lift down to the beach or take a stroll into the town to look around the shops or have a meal. We would use this hotel again

Generally very good, clean, comfortable hotel but floors and walls paper thin so couldn't sleep at all with people walking or moving or talking overhead. Probably much better on upper floor but I was sharing with my 11 year old and was with another friend and her 11 year old and had asked for 2 twin bedded rooms which I didn't realise are only on lower floor. It was then impossible to move. We'd have been better sharing a double bed with our kids and able to sleep. Staff were very friendly and tried their best though. Kids enjoyed pool and swing. Hotel five mins from beach and town and good parking available too.

Martin and Vera are genuinely friendly people, you are welcomed as though you are long lost friends. That is completed by Chance the family dog who greets the guests with a big doggy grin.

There are numerous B&B hotels in Shanklin and from the outside, the Marlborough Hotel doesn't look particularly special. However, once inside I was struck by the cleanliness of the place and freshly painted walls. Our room was on the top floor, which was quite a few flights of stairs up and unfortunately the wi-fi reception didn't get all the way there....they should invest in a booster! I've given it a high rating mainly because of the quality of the breakfast and friendly service. The breakfast was really good.....fresh fruit salads, yogurt, french pastries and multiple versions of the classic English breakfast.

Good, the breakfast was nice you have a small choice of cereal and fried breakfast. Some people had a vegetarian breakfast if you are looking for that. Overall a good stay

Stayed at the Abdingdon Guest Lodge for one night when going to The Isle Of Wight Festival. The room was spotless and very comfortable, good off road parking and quiet location not far from Ryde Harbour, 5 minutes on a bus or a steady 15 minute walk through the main high street. We arrived super early and really appreciated early access to our room for a quick change before heading off to the festival, staff were extremely friendly and helpful, would certainly book again.

The hosts are very friendly, nice and helpful. There was a misunderstanding, and though they do not accommodate children below 16 years old, they still let me and my 8-year-old daughter stay. The room and the property are very clean and well kept and the it was lovely falling asleep with the waves crashing to the shore in the background. The breakfast is your typical English breakfast and vegetarians are well catered for (especially the mushrooms were very delicious and the vegetarian sausages were good, too!). They even provided soy milk for us. This is a quiet place and you will get a good night's sleep. Highly recommended! Thank you Helen and Michael, we will be back in eight years' time when Mina will be 16!

from check in until check out every thing was excellent.The staff went out of their way to make you welcome and see that every need was attended to.Every member of the team was pleasant and helpful the furnishings were that of a Genteel Country house making the atmosphere in period,I would definitely stay there again and thoroughly recommend for a quiet stay with excellent food.

Stayed for 3 nights with my son and we loved it. The owners are so friendly and chilled and you are made to feel very much at home. There is plenty for kids to do, table tennis, table football, pool, swimming pool and board games. The location is great, the views from our room were amazing. You can come and go as you please, sit in the lovely garden while kids splash in the pool. They have a lovely friendly donkey called Rosie and a gorgeous white fluffy cat who loves to be stroked. The breakfast was good, waiting staff lovely. They offer vegetarian breakfast. They also have an honesty bar so you take what you want and just write in the book then pay on check out. They have a guest fridge and tables with plates/cutlery for you to sit in the evening if you want takeaway. The room was small but clean. The decor of the place is a bit dated but the room rates are reasonable and you pay for the service, location and family friendly facilities. Would definitely go again.

The Fountain in a perfect location right in the middle of Cowes. The rooms, although small, have everything you need. Ask for a room on the top floor at the back or side of the hotel, as the pub over the road can cause a little noise at throwing out time, if you are on a lower floor at the front. The food is excellent..both dinner and the included breakfast. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
