Traveling to Malaysia? Find Kinabalu National Park hotels

The resort is 5minutes drive from the Desa Cattle Farm and 15minutes from the Kinabalu National Park which are our main destination for this trip. The least we are expecting is a room full of flies. We couldnt even open up our balcony door in the morning which is s big dissapointment as we were there to enjoy the cold weather. The restaurant menu has a lot to choose from but the price is on the high side. We decided not to drive out for meals so we dine in most of the time. Food portion was little even for young kids. There is a jacuzzi in the room but there isnt enough hot water to fill. In the end, we gave up using it. The pathway lead to our room is not roof-covered. It was raining heavily when we were there and we were all soaking wet. So bring your own umbrella!

The hotel is NOT near to Kinabalu National Park Headquarters. It is at least 30-40 minutes drive away, towards Ranau, half of which is on a hilly, slightly potholed gravel track. This is well signposted, so no chance of missing it, but may daunt many travellers and is not near restaurants or shops. However, after pointing out that the website falsely promised a hotel near Kinabalu HQ, we were pleased that the staff upgraded our room from Valley View (great views) to Kinabalu View (truly amazing views of the mountain from atop the ridget the hotel is based on). The room was very high quality, very clean, had good facilities, and made the best of the view with floor to ceiling windows. We didn't try the free breakfast or slightly expensive restaurant, so can't comment on those. Overall, we were very glad with our choice and would happily stay there again, if we had transport!

Pros - Great location. It’s on highway, and very close to both Kundansang town and Kinabalu National Park. - Clean, spacious rooms, equipped with table fans. - Basic amenities like drinking water, towel, hot shower are available. - They sell fresh strawberry jam and other items, that are made from produce of their own farm. We tried the strawberry ice cream and it was super yummy! - The evening views from the balcony are majestic! Cons - The floor was tilted towards one side - The shower area is very cramped and the only way to practically use it is to stand under it sideways. - There’s no breakfast provided here. But there are small local eateries nearby, that are open early in the morning.

The close proximity to Mt Kinabalu National Park and Kundasang was perfect for us. It is close to a nice Chinese restaurant just 2 mins away too. The environment is basic but comfortable. The hot shower is really great when it gets cold at night. The drive to get in is a bit challenging though as the road is quite steep. But we managed with a rented 1.3L Myvi.

We spent three nights next to the Kinabalu National Park in Mile 36 Lodge. We decided to take a more expensive room that has a clear view of the mountain. Mind you, it was expensive but then everything in this area is in the same price range. We got a very nice, spacious room with double beds and ensuit bathroom. The latter even had curtains, which I sorely miss in SE Asia’s budget accommodations. Each room on the first floor had a private balcony with amazing view over the mountain! Breakfast was OK, nothing fancy to write home about. There is also a water dispenser which can be used to refill your bottles. There is a small convenience store on site with very friendly and affordable prices. Oh, and there are also board games for you to play if you feel so inclined. The only issues we had during our stay were minor ones: - could be closer to the park - there was no mention of the restaurant being closed on Monday night. We went there almost starving after their opening time to find it locked and completely deserted. Would have been nice if they told us in the morning as we could have eaten on our way back from the park. Anyway, we had a very good time at Mile 36 and I’d absolutely recommend it if your budget is tight.

1. Very friendly crew. They are helpful for any questions. 2. Far high located. With Superb hill top view. 3. But it was extremely cold in night. Would advise to get more warms clothing. 4. Perfect location that near Kinabalu National Park. 5. Suitable for Solo / Families.

The room in the main building was very clean and well dimentioned, however a bit outdated as was the bathroom. While the common areas of the hotel are newly refurbished and the surrounding gardens meticulously maintained, the hotel rooms would need some TLC. Unfortunately, the hotel's location as indicated on the Agoda map is incorrect. The hotel actually is ca 5 km from the Mt. Kinabalu National Park entrance in Kundasan, i.e., ca. 22 km away from Ranau and ca 40 km from Poring Hot Springs. Cabs to Poring or to the National Park are rather expensive.

We booked the Jungle Lodge which we got for a great deal on Agoda. We had the hot springs nearly to ourselves as it was not National holiday time. The jungle lodge was clean and very spacious with a private outdoor bathtub (in addition to an indoor shower). The staff was very nice and helpful. Would definetly stay here again! Things to note: Poring Hot Springs is roughly 45 minutes past the enterance for Mount Kinabalu National Park (mountain enterance) You can use your park ticket for both the Hot Springs and the Mountain Each activity (orchard gardens, butterfly gardens, canopy) is an extra charge to do, however, just a few dollars per person per enterance No internet, though the Chinese restaurant across the street has WiFi.

Pros: 3-5mins walking to town (where you can buy groceries, food, fruits & vegetables, KFC). 10-15mins away from Kundasang attractions such as Desa Dairy farm, Cats farm & Kinabalu Park by car. 5mins away from War memorial by car. 30-45mins away from Poring hot spring, Sabah Tea Plantation, & Fish Spa. Beautiful Mount Kinabalu view (please request for it). No issues with hot water (the staff had given instruction how to use them effectively). Cons: The cooked rice for Nasi Lemak is not really "nasi lemak" per say. Instead we were served Nasi Lemak with normal cooked rice. Nasi lemak is supposed to be cooked with santan. No aroma of pandan leaves cooked with the rice too.

The place is very bright. The first impression was great and u can feel that the owner spent so much love and effort in decorating the resort. I love the little things they put together using rocks and woods to make those cute decos. Room is so cosy and clean. Bed is warm and comfortable. The room temperature was just nice. Breakfast is free, simple yet tasty. The view is spectacular. Mount Kinabalu is just right at the back of the resort. Staffs are so friendly and helpful. Location is about 5 mins drive to kinabalu pine resort. Personally, I have no complain and I love it so much. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Skyville Zen Resort is a very pleasant small mountain resort not far from mount Kinabalu national park. The bungalow style accomodation is simple but satifactory. Style of building from outside nice. Beatiful view from the garden to the valley and mountains. (other side as Mt.Kinabalu. To have a breattaking view of Mt. Kinabalu walk for about 15 min up te hill. Entrance road to resort (view hundred meters) quite bumpy, but you get your reward once arrived! Not only because of accomodation and view, but also because of the warm welcome. Extremly nice owner/staff! No breakfast available but can buy some basic food at the spot (instant noodles/ cookies).

I stayed at A5 room (green building), room in good condition, the important thing is the views,from balcony you can see wide Kundasang view, from the door,you can see mt Kinabalu (make sure you wake up early, lol)

The hotel is located in Kinabalu National park and is a good starting point to organize sightseeing within the part. It is easily reachable from the main road. The hotel has a welcoming feel, a lounge area and nice, spacious, clean rooms.

The Kinabalu Pine Resort is located in a great location maybe 4 miles from the Mt. Kinabalu National Park, Malaysia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also, maybe 1 mile away is a large fruit and vegetable market and a small village for grocery shopping. Near the village on small hill is a memorial dedication for the Australian, New Zealand soldiers and local Malay's who died fighting an overwhelming Japanese Army in WWII. Nearby in the town of Renau is another memorial that marks the spot of the Japanese prison for Australian, New Zealand soldiers and Malay's. From this site the forced POW Death March began. A very small white sign from the road points to the site. At the resort there's a very nice view of Mt. Kinabalu from a platform close to the reception office and to the right-side of the small parking area up a short incline. Make a left turn after the reception office. Parking in front of the reception office and restaurant is not allowed. However, management does not enforce it. So, it's hard to drive pass parked Vans and Suv's that ignore the no parking sign. It's a problem management must fix. Check-in and check-out was very good. If you ask the reception folks to make a local telephone call to check on times for nearby attraction sites for the time they open and close - you'll be asked for 60-cents Ringitts per call. Not good for a Resort to charge a fee. It's another way for the Kinabalu Pine Resort to make money that we refer to in the USA as "nickel and diming." The restaurant menu is very good. Food is good and food inexpensive. No beer in the restaurant is served. It's served downstairs below the restaurant and it's very pricey. Breakfast included in the cost of the room is very good. Back-packers and guests bring their luggage inside the restaurant in the morning. Not good because tables are set up too close to each other. Folks going back and forth to the buffet breakfast were tripping on the luggage. Management should require

Very comfortable and clean to stay , kitchen facility was so completed . U can make steamboat or BBQ party as well on night times with the coldest weather . It's so great 😊 and enjoy a breakfast which can which directly to the Kinabalu mountain 😍 the view was so nice from the house . And nearby go to desa farm too . recommended Homestay in mesilau

It is near to the Kinabalu National Park. View is nice. Family room has a big balcony and BBQ facilities. Hot shower available with good water flow. However, the room is quite smelly, TV is not functioning despite has told the owner (only get our remote control few hours before check out).

I purposely waited a fortnight to do this review so it wont sound exaggerated...but i guess it still will... LOL The journey to the camp is quite adventurous, after the left turn from Ranau-Telupid highway to Jln Mamut, there was around 4km tar road with internet access. once we cross the first "bar" (with Forest Reserve sign), we still have another 4+KM uphill on gravel road till. There's no internet access after this point. we just follow the main gravel road which took almost 20minutes to reach a 2nd locked bar where the owner, Oliver, waited for us from the other side of the bar. We were lucky (all the way up, it was raining) weather is good when we reach the camp. We were being informed there were 9canine there. upon arrival, we notice 3little shy fluffy puppies. Not long after, the puppies's mom came to our hut to greet us. she looks like a husky. We later learnt that her name is "Monkey". The same afternoon, Oliver took us to a short hike to have the best view of the lake with the rest of the dog pack- all looks like husky; one excited and loving pack. The lake gives a peaceful appearance and one can hear a waterfall behind the hills. Which we understand later that it was the same waterfall accessible from HotSpring but it took 1day hike from where we are. Back to the camp, we clean ourselves, basic amenities available but need to bring drinking water and food. We just have some canned food and spaghetti for my 4YO. Lights off at 10PM and that night was a clear night with abundant stars accessible for viewing. We dont fancy that much as we had to made our 4yo sleep early... At 5am, lights on and the 1st thing we observe when we open our door is the beam of tiny flashing lights up Mount Kinabalu summit trail. Weather was fine, i think its around 18-20degree at night. 530am, we were ready for the morning walk to view the sunrise. bringing a 4yo, we walk rather slower though its just easy steps...This is definitely the 1st out-of-city trip for my 4yo, water pu

Cottage is true to its description with the majestic Mt Kinabalu as the backdrop. A little off the grid from Kundasang but worth the ride. The views are spectacular. Pros: Beautiful sunrise and sunset weather dependent. Do get up early to watch the . sunrise at the tea farm👍. Breakfast is simple with the package. Enjoying the morning view is great just at the patio of the cottage. Staff extremely friendly especially Hamid and Melinden. Even though we are not with their tour group they were extremely kind and generous to impart tips and information on other things to do in the surroundings areas. Do not rush for best effects. We had two days stay. Calming Cons: Gravel roads. Drive slowly. Patience required. Road to Ranau is laden with heavy vehicles. Can be a long arduous journey but really worth the efforts.

The room Is very clean. Good room size and elevator to lobby and room. Close to Poring Hotspring and National Park.

An exceptional site in the middle of nature. Only 8 minutes walking from Poring hot spring . Very easy to find it. A large sign next the entrance of the hot springs indicates the path. Spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Very clean. Owners are lovely. They offer all the facilities to make your a pleasant stay. I lost the bus from Ranau and they had no problem to change the day of my reservation. It is such a relaxing place that I extended my stay. They have chickens, turkeys, rabbits and pools with fishes . Without a doubt I would repeat. One of the best places I've been in Borneo.

Good location just 700m away from Kota Kinabalu National Park Entrance. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant. The Boss was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Have all time hot shower. Quiet place. Clean toilet. Fresh bedsheets. Friendly & helpful staff. Picturesque view / background (mount kinabalu). Worth for money. The access to the resort quite thrilling. However when you reached there, it is worth. We’ve been told that they in the midst upgrading the access. Lovely. We will going back there if we plan to go there next time. Highly recommended for those who love nature. Not for luxury travelers.

Comfortable quiet place but not good for young children to sleep in. No lights at evening time or during storm. Overall is ok with much friendlier staff. We booked 3 nights but left earlier due to heavy storm so had a chance for a short trek at Kinabalu National Park. Unfortunately this place was within walking distance to nearby shop because of incorrect information of its location!

Near to Kinabalu Park, pre-msg before arrival. Very convenient. We couldn't get connection from our room but we manage to do that from the corner near the toilet. The road entering the homestay needs improving. Towel and soap provided 👍

The view from the lodge (if your room is facing the mountain) is breathtaking. But I feel that the room rate is a bit pricey for such a basic facilities, no fan, no TV. Just the bed, mineral waters and private bathroom. You can get similar price at a more proper hotel room (e.g Dream World) which is nearer to Mount Kinabalu. I would suggest for the owner to provide at least a table fan, because it might be a bit hot in the afternoon in the room. And I feel it is not practical to use the blind instead of curtain for the windows. Please consider changing the blind to curtain. But the view is superb! You are all welcome to stay here if you don't mind to pay the price for such a lovely view but with basic facilities. The hosts, Mr Jerry and his wife are very friendly though. Thank you for having us there.

Location is good but too basic. Rooms and living a bit small. No tv. No wifi. Had only a few chairs and a table. Will be good for people who only wants to sleep there but if you want some R&R, a couch would have been a plus.
