"Golden Lake Hotel is the only 5-star hotel in Kinmen; so, it really looks fancy and fabulous. I really thought so does the service! However, I remember there’s one night when I ran out of the shampoo which they only offer one tiny bottle a day! Then I called the front desk asking one more. Their response gave me a hard time: “I’m sorry but the toiletries we offer a day are fixed; that is, no more extra supply. If you need some more, you can go to the duty free stores right next to the hotel.” Then the receptionist on the phone just hung up. I was like.. really? Just a bottle of shampoo? Is that so much of a big deal? Anyway, the hotel itself truly is second to none in Kinmen; yet, the service is less than what I expected from its 5-star level. "

"We enjoyed our 4 nights stay in La Place (Urban @ Farmhouse). The homestay is right opposite the Jincheng Bus Station and next to a 7 -11 convenience store. Since we were located right at the heart of the town, this made our sightseeing plans a breeze. We were given which had a great view of the street. Our modern, twin-bedded room was very clean and comfortable. It had a really "Ikea' feel given that the owner had scouted some of the furnishings from the retail giant. Our bathroom was spacious and the water pressure was good. In room amenities such as tea bags and TV were provided. There were no in-room safe but given that security was never a problem in Kinmen, we felt absolutely safe during our stay. However, we noticed that there was no in-room heating. This was a minor issue when temperatures started to hover around 8 degrees towards the end of our stay. Breakfast was served in the morning at 730am. Ann, the owner of the homestay made it a point to provide different varieties during the 4 nights when we stayed there. We enjoyed talking with her as she shared with us her life experiences as well as some of the Kinmen sights that were not listed in the tourist literature. This was a no frills homestay that made us feel very welcome when we visited. We enjoyed our vacation in Kinmen and hope to have the chance to visit the island again someday. Thank you La Place and for great hospitality as well as Kinmen for the great memories."
