Traveling to South Korea? Find Pyeongchang-gun hotels

I am very impressed witg Phoenix Park Ski resort. The hotel provides us all necessary kitchenware to prepare meals. Also, Customers has a variety of restaurant choices including Korean restaurant, KFC, Domino Pizza, and cofe benene. Plus, There is a supermarket in the resort area. The ondul condo is very clean and warm, you have to bring your own bathroom amenity such as toothbrush, shampoo, liquid soap etc. My best impression of my trip is Ms Kim, a receptionist staff on New Year Day. I left my bag and thought I lost it in the toilet at another building. I rushed to the condo and asked Ms Kim to help find the bag, she accompanied me back to the building , communicated with the staff, looked into the cctv with me and finally found the maid who help kept my bag with all my money and passport inside. She was so sweet and very much impressed me with her hospitality. I will definitely visit Korea and stay at the resort again.

Kensington Flora Hotel is located very near to Mt. Odae Korea National Park. If you want to consider trekking to the mountain, this hotel would be a perfect choice. The breakfast buffet is quite good, and the French garden is also very quiet and nice place to walk around in the morning. The overall rate is quite good considering the hotel facility and service level (Remember that this is not a first grade hotel, so some facilities may not be at a satisfactory level) The shortcoming is that on Sunday there is a wedding ceremony at the 2nd floor, which may be quite noisy. so that if you need a peaceful Sunday morning, then you need to check other hotels.

The hotel is located in the Pyeongchang Ski resort. We have been there a little bit out of season, so it was calm and a very good time to relax. The hotel itself is really clean and in a very good shape. The service very friendly and professional (all speaking a very good english). The room, including the bathroom were also in an excellent shape und very comfortable uncluding enough space to also work. The only disadvantage was the WLAN internet was not for free. A little bit surprising for Korea and also with respect to the rate of the hotel.

As the hotel staff speaks very limited English, it took us a lot of time to get the free shuttle bus timetable between Yongpyong resort and Hoenggye bus station (close to AM hotel). The bus departs from Yongpyong resort (Blisshill, 1st Floor, bus parking lot) at 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18.20, 19.30, 20.30, 21.40, 22.40, 0.30, 0.50. The bus departs from Hoenggye (a post office, abt 10 min walking from AM hotel) at 5.20, 6.20, 7.20, 8, 8.30, 9.40, 10.20, 12, 14, 15.30, 16.20, 17.40, 18.50, 20, 21, 23.30.

Me & my group (6 pax) took the subway to Dong-Seol station before getting into a express train to Hoeng-gye in Pyeongchang-gun. There we took a taxi to Alpensia Holiday Inn. All in all it took us about 3.5 hours trip. The staff are friendly & speaks english. Me & my wife took a room with village view while the other 2 couples have their rooms with snow mountain view which is great! Unfortunately, we went 1 week too early as the ski slope & the water park was not ready to be open to public. But we got over this by going over to yongpyong ski resort, where there is also another indoor water park (Peak island), albeit it is a smaller one compared to Ocean 700. Dipping in the outdoor hotspring of the waterpark outside the freezing weather is a exceptional experience. But we did not ski though, but we did some self-made snow sledge using some cardboard boxes from the shop :P. There are restaurants around the alpensia resort area that serves korean & japanese food. There is also a fast food outlet (Lotteria) and 2 GS25 mart. All-in-all, Alpensia is a good place to get away from the hustle & bustle of Seoul City. But the minus point is, there is no free wi-fi, you need to pay for it.

If you Ski or Ride MTB, this is THE place to stay at! Affordable costs considering this is a high end premium vacation resort area. All your needs are here, and just steps away from the gondolas and facilities. There is also HALAL food for moslems! and that is a HUGE relief for us who find it hard to eat in Korea. LOCATION is the Best!

Staff is very helpful and friendly. We had a one day trip and staff helped to communicate to a driver during our trip as the driver cannot speak English. Room is quite big and it separates restroom area from a bed room. There is small kitchen in the room. You can order some food to your room. Breakfast is better than our expectation. There are a few restaurants nearby for dinner. From Pyeongchang station, you can take a taxi around won 20,000 to the guesthouse.

Must stay hotel in Pyeongchang, Alpensia. Very near to bus hub. Friendly staff. Spacious room. Cozy environment. Alot restaurant in walking distance. Recommended for second stay.

From pyeongchang station, we took taxi. It cost 20.000KRW. It was a brand new modern apartment equipped with modern interior and kitchenette. Very cozy and nice. The staffs were very nice amd helpful, but they couldn’t speak English at all so we had to give extra effort to communicate with them. Thanks to google translate. The location was near from phoenix park complex, but who could resist walking in freezing weather. The apartment staff was kind enough to take us to the restaurant and ski resort and then the restaurant’s and ski rental’a owner also drove us back.

I really have to thank Aby, the young guy who speaks OK English and works round the clock. He put us into a quiet room which we requested hence it looked into the rice fields facing the back side of the hotel, first night we had snow and was so pretty. The front of the hotel overlooking the ski slopes and I saw many people placing their ski and board at the balcony. I didn't hear any noise when I walked around the hotel though. So quietness is good. Cleanliness is good also. There is no grease in the kitchen as someone else here have mentioned (I was skeptical in the beginning of whether to book here or not) and everything turns out to be out of my expectation and is clean. Beddings is clean. There are 2 tatami in the cabinet if you need and there is a bed on the loft. It is exactly like the pictures. Pretty new the kitchen cabinets etc. We cooked almost all meals. We grab our food one day (walking to the resort is doable but not recommended, 20 min at least). We had Beaf, pork, vegetables, rices, dumplings, seafood (we grab at supermarket in the resort), it was so much cheaper and fun to cook ourselves. Lots of shops selling foods along the way. Best thing is their related ski rental shop picked us up every morning, and sent us back to the hotel after we finished (we ski the section of 10:30 am to 4:30 pm) and the shop gave us a coupon each day with lift discount of 30% to 40% off. So much cheaper.

Very nice spot away from the bustle of Wonju. Spacious and well equipped. The heated floor heats up to a million degrees if you so desire. A little difficult to find so print the map before you head off. No hassle communicating with the delightful owner. Good food within a short car ride. Area seems to be abundant in beef. There's a ski field somewhere nearby but we didnt see it.

The property is new and very clean. We get the whole 2 level terrace house with a private garage. This is ideal for those who drive or can make arrangements for pickup. Everything would have been perfect if they have a washing machine as we had a long stay of 6 days. The town is about 10 minutes drive for restaurants and supermarket. The staff speaks English which is a plus.

We (2 adults & 1 10-yr-old girl) went to YP for skiing & had stayed at G&B Hotel for 6 nights. The hotel is a small one & owned by a couple (Andy & Julie). Both of them can speak Eng, in particular Julie. Breakfast is standard, bread, egg, cereal, coffee, etc. Not so many choices but that's enough for a simple breakfast. You can rent ski or snowboard equipment at the hotel at a relatively low price when compared with the ski resort. About 100M away from the hotel, there is a bus stop providing free shuttle service to & from the hotel & YP ski resort. The schedule is good. There are many good restaurants near the hotel (but please don't go to the one on the left hand side when leaving the hotel). Andy can offer discounted YP ski tickets for us. Although hotel room is small, water is hot enough. The room is equipped with heater. We only rested in the hotel after skiiing & that's enough. A 5-star hotle will only waste my money. The most impressive thing is the kindest service of the owners. I can't read Korean words. Before I went to Korea, I was afraid I couldn't find my way from the airport to the hotel. Julie kindly advised me by emails again & again. The quality service deserves my highest recommendation to my friends.

Except the maintenance of the bath room, as I understand this is quite a new hotel, however, I see no proper maintenance of the bathroom & cleaning service is 2/5 marks! Flooring & toilet bowl was not cleaned properly ! I still see hair & stain! Other than the above, hotel staff were helpful although cannot speak fluent English but we still manage to communicate with them...even taxi driver called them to assist to translate..ya..taxi driver kept speaking Korean to us though he knew we understood none..,at the end he called hotel staff to translate.. Well both were kind and helpful.. Ya.. As the hotel located up in the hill, I think they should provide shuttle bus at least to the nearby Phoenix Ski Park or around the area.. Then I think is more attractive..

The hotel is so new that there wasn't a website available when we booked it. Its a wonderful option if you are skiing in Alpensia. Their free shuttle is wonderful (the shuttle was full and the hotel kindly cars to send us to Alpensia anyways). The loft is a great for more bedspace but it would be better if they don't charge us for the extra bedding (33,000KRW per night). The convenience store right on site also makes is very convenient. Breakfast is also nice. Beds and pillows can be better though. We had dinner there after skiing on both nights and food was excellent. One thing I would recommend is to offer a more frequently shuttle schedule to Alpensia and YongPyong during the day (perhaps every hour on request?) so that it would make it much more convenient for the guests to commute back and forth. Overall, I really love this hotel and would definitely stay here again when I come to Pyeongchang next time.

Pro: 1 - manager who can communicate well in English and very helpful to hotel guests. 2 - Location near the Blue Phoniex Ski resort, can go by taxi. 15 minutes of travel. 3 - Can play snow slide at the hotel area 4 - Have a convenient store to stock food and daily necessities. 5 - Can do our private BBQ with hotel packages 6 - Ideal for families / couples to relax and honeymoon Cons: 1 - Locations quite far from the city of Seoul and Pyeongchang Ski Resort 2 - Taxi Fares to Pyeongchang Ski Resort was around KRWon 50'000

We didn't rent a car in Korea this time (which I think we should do next time...) hence we took the shuttle bus directly from the Gimpo airport and only manage to arrive Daegwalnyeong at around 7pm (better check the shuttle bus schedule first, we spent 3 hours waiting for the shutttle...The shuttle bus stopped at the Alpensia Resort, and the staff at Holiday Inn helped us to contact the Pension host and the owner just drove over pick us up very quickly! (that was a bloody cold and windy night, and we were carrying 2 full sets of snowboarding gear and 2 luggages...gosh!). The pension is located on a small hill, but just 10mins walk to the downtown where you can find nice Korean food, grocery shops and gear rental shops. The next morning the host also drove us to the YongPyong Resort for snowboarding (around 15mins drive away from the pension), the next few days we went with the resort's shuttle bus where the bus stop also very close to the pension). The host also came pick us up from the bus stop after our last day of snowboarding (he just waited there without letting us know in advance, so sweet). and send us to the intercity bus station on the day we left. Never been staying at a pension with such a nice host before! If they could offer breakfast at a cost the pension is perfect for budget stay.

double bed room in regular weekend days 90 USD/N: Hi, we visit this pension for 2 nights, it passed so fast. very quite place, pension owner was very very kind, friendly, and competitive. it was our first visit to the area and this pension as well, i got the exact things what i asked in comment sent to the hotel. the thing you may to do before going there is make your shopping because no any shops near. or you may use your car, even if you need something urgently you may ask it from the owner, he will do what he can. what make us stay more instead of spending time to discover the area is the farm attached and all farm's animals what make my daughter have fun. a small demerit there is the price was little high comparing with others in the same area same level, but it was compensated for me in another way. i am strongly recommend this pension.

Perfect for skiing, 5 min walking from the bus to go to yongpyong resort. Anyway the owners were so kind, they took us to the yongpyong resort when we needed without any extra charge, also they pick up us the first day from the bus stop to go to the hotel and the last day the same to go to the bus stop...

My friends and I enjoyed our stay at this pension! The space was very comfortable. It had everything we needed. The owner was also very kind and even picked us up when we could not get a taxi late at night back to the pension. She was an awesome hostess and I would stay again if the opportunity arose.

Pyeongchang-gun is a small lovely town and this town is just 10 minutes away from Yong Pyong ski resort. Transportation is not difficult at all, there are free shuttle bus between the town and the resort every now and then in which direct bus to Incheon airport is available at the resort as well. This hotel is just lovely. The staff are nice although they may not communicate in English very well but they are very willing to help. Breakfast is abundant, both in Korea and Western style. The room is not big, just like the town, although there are everything most of guesses would need. Each room has their own Internet access point which makes the Internet connection very strong and fast! I love this point! There is also particular PC in each room. Bathroom is provided with automated toilet. The room is heated by means of floor heating after sunset. I find this hotel very comfortable and relaxant for my 4-day snowboard adventure and it is just great value comparing to those luxury in the resort area.

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. You need a vehicle as it is tucked away. However, if your there to go to Pheonix Park Ski Resort, it is only 2.5 miles down the road. There is also an abundance of ski equipment rental places. Overall I was very happy and would gladly stay there again!

Ones views would depend on your type of travel and when.. I as a solo traveler purely to ski did not have transport, relied on publlc transport (free shuttle bus to the ski resort 6km) which is excellent. Hoenggye is just a town and the pension is a rather brisk 10 minute walk to town. This is fine but if having to walk after dark in early February, it is pretty cold and not really something I wanted to do. So, if you take most of what you can prepare and eat, the facilities are fine. Microwave, rice cooker, kettle, one stove plate.(the host, Kim, asks that one does not cook fish or meat) The standard room I had alone would be perfect even for a couple. It is quite big, with a good shower room. The tv has some English channels, movies, news and sport. The room was spotlessly clean. Kim the host speaks no English but she uses a mobile translator so it is possible to communicate. She is a pleasant woman and will help with about anything that you ask. I will return and stay again.

Cons, accessibility, needs to call either owner or taxi cab to be able to get into property. Pros, affordable, roomy, and owner was professional, very friendly, and helpful.

Even house owner doesn't know english, but they try their best to use mobile to translate our request. Very helpful house owner, pick up and transfer us back to the house from ski area in everyday

The house is very clean with all the facilities. 5 minutes away from Alpensia and Yongpyong resorts but much more affordable. And the people are so nice and well coming
