"The main appeal of this part of Thailand is the nearby Si Thep Historical Park, where you can see ruins from the ancient Dvaravati and Angkor kingdoms. This hotel is a good base for those ruins if you have your own car, but you can also do it under your own steam. It is about 7km out of the small town of Si Thep, and you can organize a samlor to bring you out here and then on to the ruins if you wish. This can even be done with minimal Thai language skills with a bit of persistence. The hotel itself has pluses and minuses. For $15 a night it feels like a real bargain. It has tropical resort style flourishes such as a pool, fish ponds and lush gardens. The rooms are simple but adequate with a nice TV and tasteful trimmings. The wi-fi was also good. On the down side, the cafe never once opened during our stay. Fortunately, there is a decent Thai restaurant across the road. A lack of Engish among staff also made things challenging."
