Traveling to Taiwan? Find Taitung hotels

My family and I were visiting from the US. I chose this particular Naruwan hotel for it's amenities that accommodate families with small children. As for location, you are just a 5 minute drive from the Taitung airport or Railway station. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle to the airport and railway station if you arrange ahead of time. The game room is excellent for children of all ages. There are video games, foos ball, table tennis, billiards, a toddler playground, and basketball video game etc. My son had blast every time! I would give the staff 10 stars if I could. Very friendly and accommodating. From the front desk, to bell hop, housekeeping to the restaurant staff, everybody was helpful and had a great attitude. Our room came with complimentary buffet everyday. The selection was great and most importantly was delicious. I ordered from the cafe a few times as we were too tired to go out to eat. The food was good too. Also around the corner from the hotel are a few local places to eat. One vegetarian spot was clean and delicious. Plenty of boba and tea shops as well as a Family mart and 7-11. My only disappointment would have been the hot spring facility. Two of the 3 sections for the hot spring were cold. The only hot tubs where in the back of the facility and I believe the temperature gages were not accurate. The two tubs we went in showed similar readings around 34.4 Celsius, but felt completely different in temps. I prefer hot baths so I was a bit chilly. My husband prefers luke warm water so it was perfect for him. Due to the weather we did not get to enjoy the pool, but it looked nice and one of the few hotels in Taitung with a pool. Overall I could not be happier with the hotel selection. Should they ever remodel the pool or health spa, this would definitely be a 5 star resort across the board. I will definitely be back if I'm in Taitung!

We travelled in 3 of us by rented car from Taitung train station. It takes about 20 min car drive from taitung train station to this hotel. We would like to pick a hotel with good hotspring facility and the onsen is located in rooftop. The hotel looks great and quite modern appeal. Very quiet and i like it a lot.

Although it is quite a distance from Taitung railway station, there is shuttle bus service available (advance notice required) between the railway station and hotel. Nice getaway from city life with plenty of nice eateries around the hotel. Voucher is also provided where you can use the sauna, swimming pool and gym at the main hotel (Formosan Naruwan Hotel & Resort) within walkable distance.

We stayed at this hotel on a Tuesday night and it was as advertised. No surprises. We didn't take advantage of them but they do offer free bicycles for use for guests. The beds were comfortable. The sheets were clean. The breakfast lacked some choices but it was fine. (Some other hotels offer noodles which we like.) The staff were friendly. We were very happy staying here. As a bonus, when we were there, the air force base nearby was practicing touch and go landings and take-offs so we got to see that. Depending on the season, it'd be better for you to have a car as the hotel is on the edge of central Taitung. However, if it's warm, the free bicycles would be perfect to get around. We didn't see a lot of taxi cabs around so the bikes may be the only way to get around.

This is a brand new hotel downtown. Very convenient to the bus station and many trails behind the hotel. A lot of restaurants in the area, even a McDonalds and Starbucks next door. I arrived early so room wasn’t ready so no problem, they took my bag and I went to the National Museum of Prehistory. Taxi was about NT$250. There was plenty of staff to check in and even though they struggled somewhat with English they were sincere in wanting to please. There was a sheet (in Chinese) with all hotel activities, such as happy hour, and pool operating hours. It would have been nice if this sheet was translated into English. My room was ready when I returned, but it would have been nice to have my bag waiting for me in my room. The room was spotless with many details. Such as the Taitung rice sample. Was well designed. It was lacking a work desk. Maybe larger rooms have one. There is a rooftop pool (unheated) with million-dollar views of the mountains and ocean on other side. Really beautiful. There is also a lounge there but wasn’t open. That would be a great place for a drink. They have a free shuttle that can pick you up or drop off at the train station or airport since they are some distance away. Call first to reserve. If there was a sour note, it would be the buffet breakfast. It wasn’t up to the quantity and quality of other breakfasts I’ve had in Taiwan. I hope they can improve that. In summary, a new hotel in great location with great views from the roof. I think this hotel is setting the new standard of hotels in Taitung.

Great : hotel (room ) is very clean Good:Breakfast is buffet but you might have to share table with other people. Bad :is hard to find this hotel bc the address is wrong make sure you call them for the right address 😝

I highly recommend anyone staying in Taitung City to stay at this hotel. It is in the heart of the city, so you are within walking distance of EVERYTHING. The hotel itself is quite pretty, and check-in was fast and easy. It was very clean as well. The rooms are comfortable with large, spacious bathrooms. The wifi works fast, and is easy to access. The breakfast is delicious and offers a great variety of Eastern and Western cuisine. I think this is one of the best hotels to stay at in Taitung City, and when I checked the rates were even cheaper than other hotels, so it is well worth it. TIP -Be sure to check out Kasa Cafe, a short walk from the hotel. They are open for drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic) until 2am! A very cool, hip place to hang out.

one of the best hot spring hotel we stayed in taiwan. never get bored because there is always free activities tailored for different age group. we enjoyed the open air hot spring too. the only set back is that some parts of the building needs a little upgrading, such as the common hot spring pool. it looks a little run down for the price paid. however, we enjoyed ourselves!

Great location just beside the bus terminal where I took the bus to Taitung TRA station, sanxiantai, luyehgaotai, duoliang, taimali, and many more places. Awesome location for travellers using public transport. Room is clean. 4 bunk beds (8 beds in total) with a toilet in the room which is more convenient. The hotel also provided bottled water, towel, body wash, shampoo and toothbrush. This is one of the best dormitories that I have stayed in Taiwan!

Good value in Taitung. Room was spacious enough for our family of 4. Dinner in the hotel cafe was nice and the beer was cold. Easy access to the riverside trail system and old train track trail system, great for morning or evening walks.

It is a hugh surprise to find such a wonderful boutique hotel in rural area of Taiwan, especially for places like TaiTung. The staffs were very helpful, friendly, and professional. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was built right next door to the Museum and with free access to it. And with all these, the rates are still in a very reasonable level, even in local's standard. I travel a lot across the US and Europe. The overall standards of the hotel are nothting less than those in the US and Europe. I will definitely come back here if I go to TaiTung next time.

I strong recommend MATA be a Star Hotel since they provided excellent services during my stay in Taitung. It's so perfect hotel for everything as below: Money: Very reasonable. Location: Nearby the Taitung Forest Park and bus stop which very convenience. Cleanliness: The hotel is a new building around 4~5 years, rooms are maintained good system and light is shining. Staff: All staffs provided good services by themselves, especially, (1) The chef explained the how to cook the food for us. (2) The receiptionist presents the environment and provided map and tourism spot. Facilities: Free bicycle for customer. Result: Excellent hotel in Taitung.

The Hoya is an excellent place to stay. Rooms are large, bedding and linens are of very good quality. Breakfast buffet is one of the very best we ever encountered. The staff is very kind, very helpful and efficient, even if we struggle with our Taiwanese language skills. Our compliments to many of the staff and especially to Ben, one of the concierges to assist us so well as he spoke very good English. The hot springs spa was very relaxing and like everything in the resort, it was very clean and well organized. Best way to reach the Hoya when traveling by train is to exit at Zheben station and take bus 8129 (or was it 8159?). It is only a 10 minute bus ride. Only regret is that the Hoya restaurant is not open for lunch and there is very limited eateries open in the area at that time.

Did not expect much as Taitung is a small city. But turns out this hotel is a gem, much much better than many hotels in Taiwan’s bigger cities. 3 of us booked a 2 king size bed room and the room is big. Bathroom big too. Hotel well maintained and very comfortable. Location excellent as restaurants and shops are right there. Staff very polite. Taitung is a beautiful city and will visit again and stay in this hotel again!

I booked less than 30mins via web under the rainy day with motorbike . When I reached there , they are ready for me . They upgraded my room and I am very happy that supper and breakfast will be provided . This location is the best place to be as it is located near night market ( close on Wednesday) and very centralised place . When I choose hotel , Most county I choose to stay near train station. But not for taitung . If you want to get get ard taitung . U must around here . And this is the best and most reasonable prices with bicycle provided for you too. Cheers

the food is used lots local raw materials. can see their sincere for the presentation of the foods. menu everyday is different as we stay two days there. we enjoy every minutes whiles step in to the hotel. the staff and the lady boss is very welcoming. appreciated that very much. free laundry, free bicycle, free snack, free tour adv, what else you can ask.. will be back to this hotel if back to taitung again. thank you.

My initial QUAD room was a joke... with not enough room to even walk in for 4x people. Had to go up to the front desk and address this issue, whereby I was given the chance to upgrade for a reasonable fee in TWD. The hotel is well kept, and clean, but the room decor was a bit off. The bed was comfortable enough. The shower has nice water pressure for our 7th floor room. There were no personal safe. They seemed to be in the middle of renovations when I was there, so seeing that openly wasn't good. They had a mounted TV with choices of local TV programs. Free bottled waters were included, however cleaning staff left big boxes of water bottles unattended in the hallways. All the daily toiletry items were provided (toothbrush/paste, shaving kit, etc). The instruction sheet in our room said that there was wireless internet access, and it worked, albeit intermittently. There were plenty of desktop computers in the business center on the 1st floor lobby with free internet access. We also took advantage of the free laundry washers and drying machines, with laundry detergents provided as well! Aces! The service overall was very good, and the hotel staff were very accommodating. There were plenty of local restaurants nearby, including a fancy looking (by Taitung standard) steak house 5 minute away. A Family Mart convenience store is located next door, only a few steps away. The included daily breakfast was surprisingly good with variety of food items. There is also a free midnight snack service that is overwhelming good, you don't have to step outside for dinner. Kindness Taitung warrants a repeat stay, and the service will win you over and over again!

The hot pools here in the heart of Taiwan hot springs country are heavenly. The outdoor pool was also perfect in April for laps. Rooms are spacious and lovely and well equipped. Staff are fun, courteous, and helpful. The one inconvenience is for those who actually want to vist Taitung. A taxi ride to Taitung is between 400 and 500 nt . However, a short train ride is less expensive and staff will drive you to the train. Breakfast may not satisfy all Westerners but the French toast was tasty as were the Taiwanese noodles and veggies.There weren't any Western restaurants near by but if you enjoy Taiwanese food thete ate many wothon a five to ten Minute walk. Use by busloads of tourists may affect your stay depending on the time of year but low season was fine in this lovely new hotel. A small gym is also available

It was better than I expected... Friendly staff / cozy & modern style room / quiet surrounding / excellent location for city trip... I really strongly recommend this hotel for Taitung travel.

Pros -there’s hot spring in the room so you get to enjoy it -breakfast was provided but food was limited -if you’re lazy to travel out at night, you can make reservation for hotpot in the hotel. The seafood hotpot is fresh especially my family love the fishes. However, seafood is ala carte except the vege, fruits are buffet style -room was clean and spacious with balcony view -free drinks & snacks in room -staffs was friendly & helpful except the bell girl (she giving us a blackface when we asked her some questions) Cons -not convenient to dine out unless you drive or hire driver (hotel has their own convenience store, fruit store but prices a bit steep) -too many tour buses in the morning -facilities was limited but more on the kids friendly

After my great experience with this chain of hostels in Taichung I didn't doubt in choosing them for my stay in Taitung and it was a good decision. It didn't feel like a hostel since there were no dormitories (to my knowledge) but still is a very reasonably priced budget hotel. Room was nice, bedding was good and same for the mattress. The common space and kitchen were great and the washing machine and dryer were big, good and cheap. Also, the staff was very friendly and answered patiently and with good attitude to all my questions. Only complains would be that there are no bus stops in a 800m radius or so and that in the mini room the shower is a little uncomfortable (I should have expected the second one since the name implies it, but still).

You can choice this Hotel. They have many hotels you can choice Formosan Naruwan Galaxy Hotel Taitung. When you come to Taitung this is good choice. Many hotels you can choice. I think you will like it.

Bicycle could rend for free. Room was very cleaned. Quiet and relaxing circumstance. Kind, friendly staffs.

We stayed at this Hotel during our first stay in Taiwan 13 years ago. The lobby and hotel facade has been refurbished but the rooms amenities are still the same. The Spa area is a bit run down and many "attractions" are out of function. A makeover would be beneficial. Nevertheless, the staff is super friendly, the air is very fresh and clean and the rooms are so quiet and you have a hot spring bath tub right en-suite. The breakfast is just beyond! I will definitely go there again next time I will be in Taiwan.

It's a hot spring hotel. Near the entrance to the hot spring town. Our double room is in the old main building. Room and facilities are a bit old, though clean and spacious. However there are newer standalone family suites next to it. I enjoy the hot spring a lot. It's big and spacious. Facilities for hot spring is good. Free for hotel guess use once a day, no time limit. There's indoor and outdoor pool and a warm water swimming pool for you to swim after soaking in hot spring. Wide variety of buffet breakfast. Outside the hotel is a big convenient store. No issue for getting food and essentials, although restaurant choice is limited in the area. They don't take China tourists group as other hotels did in that area. Occasionally 1-2 tour bus dropby for an hour for tourists to enjoy the hot spring. I do hope the hot spring is for hotel guess only or separate section for guess and non guess.

I had a really enjoyable and idyllic stay here with my family back in December 2016. It's pretty peaceful and tranquil and is the perfect holiday spot for people who've seen pretty much the main tourist attractions of Taiwan and are in search of somewhere a little more secluded, scenic and less crowded. Highlight: The main attraction of this minsu of course is that it's near the famous Mr. Brown Avenue (伯朗大道). The minsu offers bicycles for rent for vacationers to cycle to 伯朗大道. Very scenic and enjoyable. The pictures floating online of that famous path are a tad over-filtered so no, it's not really a bicycle path in the middle of a golden sea of wheatgrass against the backdrop of a crystal-blue sky. But it's still pretty. Minsu: The minsu itself is really pretty. According to the manager, the minsu's owner built it himself. It really is as nice as the pictures make it out to be, same goes for the room. Really liked the minsu overall! Things to do: There's honestly not much to do around the minsu other than to chill and cycle– shops (including 7-11) are quite a distance away. So I would suggest buying snacks, instant noodles and all your essentials at the convenience store near the train station prior to actually making your way to the minsu. Food-wise, you can opt for dine-in meals at the minsu's restaurant, but it might get a little repetitive after a day so yeah, bring your own instant noodles if that's a concern. Location-wise and travel: It is about a five to ten minutes drive from Chishang Train Station, and it takes about four hours to get from Taipei Main Station to Chishang Train Station. We were on a free-and-easy holiday, so what we did was to look for a taxi driver outside the train station upon arrival– it seems like this minsu is quite well-known so I had no trouble directing the driver. There was a minor blip when I couldn't find a driver (it's a pretty sleepy town), so what I did was to approach the shops right outside the train station to ask

Great room with fantastic view... Very close to Railway station, a few minutes walk. However, train station and hotel are NOT located in Taitung city. Necessary to take bus from train station into town. Breakfasts for Western guests needs work..... Need something adfitional to Bagel singular, butter and jam. Eg a fried eggs or omellette option.
