Excellent location”
Went up,to Glasgow without a car. The wedding was at Oran Mor - just across the road , so brilliant location. Also just to the side of the hotel are the Botanical Gardens which are brilliant - don't miss the secret railway station. Back to the Clifton, really comfortable, homely hotel not super modern but great for a weekend away. Excelllent breakfast.

Great value and great location. Lovely staff.”
The good things: The location is ideal for me and the value for money is excellent. Good breakfast, comfy bed and nice modern hot shower. I got a free ‘upgrade’ to a bigger room with en suite bathroom and, despite offering to pay, it was a offered with a pleasant, smiling eagerness to please (and no extra was accepted). The negatives? Decor is a little tired in some places, service at breakfast was a little clipped, my room was a little too chilly (but I hate a warm bedroom) and it might be helpful to say that you need to flick a switch in the bedroom to get the shower to work at all. Not really a ‘destination’ hotel for a special break but fine for me. But, for a budget hotel, this is very good. I paid about £25 for b&b which, in central Glasgow, is hard to beat (obviously)

Good location and nice staff”
Old fashioned hotel in Glasgow. Location is excellent right near the botanical garden. Rooms are of decent size, however, very old fashioned. Also appliances in Bathroom rather old fashioned. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Would come back again.

Ideal location in West End, great value for money and comfortable good sized room with what looked like a brand new, pristine ensuite bathroom/ shower.

Great location for visiting the West End”
Central location for the West End. Could have been a bit cleaner. Bits of mould around the bath, broken lampshade sellotaped together. Loose floor tiles in the bathroom. Bed wasn't very comfortable. Scottish breakfast was missing black pudding, haggis and tattie scone but very tasty. Staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful. We got a great price so worked out ok for the one night we did stay

Good value but nothing fancy”
Good location for West End, but not for city center. Rooms could need some love and care, I’ve stayed here a couple of times and in one room the bathroom door could not be closed, in another there was no water from the cold water tap and the toilet seat came off. Showers are always a bit up and down when it comes to water temperature. BUT at that price I would still recommend it; you get a perfectly clean room with private bath and breakfast in a nice building, cheaper than at any of the neighboring hotels.

Very nice rooms, wonderful breakfast!”
The first room they gave us did not have hot water in the sink, so the manager gave us another room as she was not able to get a plumber. The 2nd room was even nicer than the first one. Very comfy bed and nice chairs and table. The full Scottish breakfast was excellent with everything one could want. This hotel is in a great location near the main museums and with bus stops nearby. We would definitely stay again.

Ok if you just need a bed”
Staff was really nice and helpful and the location was perfect. However, we had the tiniest room, the room was too warm and the staff would turn the heater back full blast every time, enough water for one shower after that it's icy cold, no hairdryer in the room which is not great as it's often cold and wet in Glasgow, couldn't make a cup of tea in the room as it tasted like soil, cigarette burn marks in the bathroom. Better go out for breakfast as there are loads of amazing cafés around which serve tasty breakfast and cheap.

calm place on a very nice spot of Glasgow ”
Everything you need is close to the hotel! I can recommend to have lunch at the bookclub just 3 min walk. The botanic garden is a visit worth and the subway is very close to get to the city center. The hotel is quite and clean. Breakfast is classic with nice service!

Friendly staff, very large room, good value”
Room and ensuite was a lot bigger than expected, with very high ceilings. It was clean (though we did find a half full bottle of wine in the cupboard 😂). The room was quite warm, fairly quiet, despite it being a weekend, and breakfast was brought over very fast. Furniture was quite old, but I liked the character. There was a bus stop right oittside, and it was a 5-10 min walk to the subway to get into the centre, with lots of restaurants and cafes etc nearby, a good location.

A good short stay with great price”
A nice location within glasgow's westend and a very good price. It is basic but they have great staff offering help. They also have a parking space for £5 a night at the back but they are very very cramped-in so you would need quite a driving skill to park it in. will be back but not in a great rush.

THE ROOM WAS CLEAN AS WAS THE BATHROOM HOWEVER THE REST OF THE HOTEL WAS A BIT TIRED AND RUN DOWN. THE DOOR TO THE ROOM RATTLED WHEN ANYONE CAME IN DOWNSTAIRS. THERE WAS SOME PARKING AVAILABLE BUT THIS WAS AT EXTRA COST

Very pleasant, clean, quiet - although in the heart of city.”
Very clean and quiet. Great location for our wedding opposite at Oran Mor and lovely being right next to the Botanic Gardens. Rooms were spacious and pleasant looking. Staff friendly and helpful. Carpets and furniture a little worn and stained in places but okay. TV remote didn’t work despite attempts to fix it. Shower temperature couldn’t be regulated (hot then cold) so had to have baths. Tap water tasted of old pipes so bought my own bottled water. Quite a climb up stairs to second floor - not so good if unfit or infirm. Overall, pleased with choice as peaceful, great location and good value for money.

Good location, close to Botanical Garden and public transport”
Cosy location and historical building with good first impression, but could increase it's service with small investment, such as working wi-fi in rooms (our room was far from reception) and cleaner blankets (our was not clean).
