Excellent service ”
We were greeted with a warm welcome and a big bag of complimentary goodies on our arrival, we stayed in room 1628 with a swimming pool view. The hotel is situated in a quiet location, so it's good if you want a quite peaceful sleep and yet not too far from the main attractions. The breakfast i think could have been a bit better, juice from boxes is not a good thing, but all the staff were very helpful especially Paul at the front of desk who gave us a late check-out and also drove us to the airport. We will definitely be staying here again if were in Chiang Mai.

Nicely kept older hotel ”
I booked 2 deluxe king rooms for 2 couples traveling together for 3 nights. Check in was easy and we were supposed to get a welcome drink according to the reservation but instead they give you a gift bag. The bag included numerous snacks and orange juice plus some sparkling water. Our rooms were on the 14th floor. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Sure the furniture and fixtures might be a little dated but everything works and was comfortable. Bathroom is good with plenty of hot water and water pressure. Bonus is hot water at the sink also. Possible bathroom negative is that the shower is in a fairly tall tub. If you have any mobility issues it might be difficult to get in and out of the shower. Facilities are good. Breakfast is nice and located at the lobby restaurant. But the pool is closed. Now you have to walk to the Empress Premier next door to use the pool or gym. A little inconvenient. Good location for exploring Chiang Mai. We were there for Christmas. As a bonus the Chiang Mai Catholic Cathedral is located behind the hotel across from the Empress Premier building. I would definitely recommend the Empress hotel when you visit Chiang Mai.

Friendly staff. Nice pool. Good value for money compared to others in the area. Colonial style hotel. Only negative is the bathroom needs a little updating to keep it fresh. Bathtub with shower that some people could have difficulty getting out of. Breakfast was good. No traffic noise so that’s always a plus. Would return and recommend to anyone.

Stayed for a night at the Empress. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable, everything very clean. The hotel had an old world charm. I could use the modern building/wing's pool if I had chosen to. Breakfast was good, had live egg counter, had fruits, continental and Asian (hot) food items and a live egg counter as well. Centrally located. No complaints. Fantastic front end/reception team. Would happily return!

The Empress is a beautiful hotel with a great staff. I can’t say enough about how well I was treated by the staff, particularly Aoy at the front desk. She did everything she could to make my stay more enjoyable. The bed in my room was better than most but due to back surgery I prefer a very soft bed. I asked her if she could help and within minutes I had a mattress topper on my bed. Now that’s service! Fresh fruit plate delivered to your room and friendly greetings from everyone everyday. It was a pleasure just being there. The Empress has one of the larger pools in Chiang Mai and it is well maintained. Towels are provided and there are nice restrooms available as well. The gym is well equipped and very clean. Due to covid and the lack of tourism the main Empress Hotel is still closed. The smaller, but still very large, Empress Premier building is the only one operating at this time. The restaurants are closed but room service is available. Grab taxis are readily available to go anywhere in the city for $2 to $4 and the list of great restaurants is endless. It was very quiet and the room was extremely comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay.

I will never stay anywhere else in Chiang Mai”
I've never been treated so well by hotel staff. This is one of the oldest hotels in Chiang Mai and it has the total Lanna culture and attitude. I don't know why my son and I got so lucky but upon arrival they upgraded us to a better room and then they brought a lovely basket of snacks with probably $40 worth of stuff in it. Then they invited us to a free 7 course dinner with free drinks. I had never stayed here and was treated like royalty. The breakfasts are superb. Freshly baked bread and anything you would want whether you are Asian or Western. If anybody asks me where to stay in Chiang Mai, I will tell them Empress Hotel.

Empress”
Very nice hotel in the heart of Chiangmai located about 1 KM from the old city. Staff was friendly, spoke good English, and very attentive to every need. Upon arrival my wife was given a nice bouquet of flowers an we were given a free upgrade to an executive suite. The regular price would be too expensive but due to the decline in tourism, we revived a deep discount on Agoda so made it an excellent bargain. Pool was clean and nice.
