Lovely quaint little artsy studio”

Amazing location and great staff

Planned a day stay in Melaka and looked for a place near Jonker Street. Can't get any closer than Galvanize Studio. Literally just round the corner from Jonker Street made it convenient to go to all the tourist attractions around the area and numerous eateries for our meals. Very friendly staff and the Warung Seni cafe is convenient for a light snack and quick coffee. Even got a RM10 voucher for meals! Room was very basic but we loved it, just what we needed. Right behind the new Hard Rock Cafe Melaka, which would be ideal as I'm a Hard Rock Pin Collector, for future visits! Will definitely come again!!

Nice and Easy”

Friendly staff, just 20 steps away from Jonker Street, and Simple and cosy

Galvanize Studio is a simple place for adventurous & art goer's to stay. Do not expect 2 to 3 stars service. I enjoy my time there. Their way of decoration makes one feel easily blend in. The staff in Galvanize are helpful. The one thing that i love most about Galvanize is, it is just 20 to 30 feet away from the Jonker Street Entrance & it is situated right opposite of Hard Rock Cafe.

Interesting short stay”

Location, friendly staff, interesting art

My friend and I decided last minute to drive to Melaka and everywhere was fully booked. Lucky for us, we stumbled across this small hotel. We arrived before 12 and they let us checked into our room and showed us around. 1. Room is quite spacious, so is the bathroom. Hot water was plenty, although I didn't really care about hot water, Melaka is boiling hot . 2. Location is walking distance to anywhere in the old town. Right at the entrance to Jonker Walk behind Hard Rock Cafe. 3. Price-wise, don't expect 5-star facilities and treatment. I personally have no complaint. The boys at the hotel were very helpful. 4. Parking is available at the parking area nearby the old city. We parked our car at the area across the street from Casa del Mar for RM10/ night. You tell them you want to overnight your car, they will give you a spot in front instead of way back. It's about 5 - 7 minutes walk from the hotel. 4. There is a 'cafe' at the front of the hotel. Well, you can buy canned drinks from them but no food available. 5. The hotel is co-owned by a local artist. Quite a number of interesting art to enjoy. PS: Don't forget to wear a hat when you walk around Melaka town. For an old city, the trees are surprisingly juvenile. No shades in Jonker area, given that it's a packed area with buildings and narrow streets and side-walks, I can understand that there aren't many trees around that area.

Not the most private place”

Great location, Nice owners and staff

the best thing about the studio is that it is right round the corner from jonker street, but far enough to avoid noises from the road. it is a funky looking studio with a cafe just outside, and the staff were pleasant enough and helpful. the wi-fi was great. we stayed in the one room they have to offer, which is in the back of the first floor. for dollars however, the bed creaks and the walls are dusty. it is not as stylish as the pictures or as sparkling, i should have expected. i know that they have dorm space, so that must be on the second floor which i imagine would be great. however, our private room was next to the public toilet and bath. if there wasn't noise from there, it was chatter from the patrons or staff themselves who you can hear through the flimsy malay-style room door, which went on one night until 11.30pm. the door also had large blurry panels and light from the studio would shine through them the whole night. i understand that it's a studio stay, not a hotel. i think circumstances would be different if we were not a couple, but i would say if you want to read or do work in your room with some quiet it's not possible. unfortunately i think that i expect different things when i rent a room in a place. namely that i feel comfortable or have peace. at galvanise i felt like a stranger living in someone else's back room, and that's not what hospitality means to me. especially for 40 usd.

Quirky on the outside but... ”

Wifi, centrally located, aircon

Walking along the street, would need to look carefully to be able to find the hostel because it did not have any protruding signs and we walked past the hostel without noticing. It was more of like a shop front that sells apparels with hostel facilities. It is located near Jonker Street where you can find all the delicious food. At one glance, the hostel looks quirky and interesting. We then noticed that there is only 1 private room and 1 dormitory with 4 beds. We stayed in the dormitory (2nd level). There is 1 shared bathroom on the 1st level. Although the common area outside the dormitory looks like a nice place to hang out with bean bags, tables, chairs and books however do not expect any interactions because at most there will only be 4 people & being in such tropical weather, people will be spending time in the dorm with aircon. Although the bed is neat, it does not look clean. You can actually find dust particles on the metal grills of the bunk as though it has not be dust/ clean before. I wonder if they changed the mattress at all. The pillow is pretty flat which left me with a stiff neck in the morning. Do note that they charge for towel at 5 ringgit. If you are a light sleeper, prepare your own ear plug as you may be woken up by the noise outside. Overall, it is definitely not one of the best hostel experience, will probably pay a little more for a better one next time.

the worst ever my monthly stay in malacca”

dirty, hairs, noisy

i stayed in Jonker street every 2 weeks when i visit. so i tried a lot of guesthouses there. Honestly this is my first time and it was my last time. I stayed in their dorm that they called it Nomad. It is a 4 beds room with a basin. the toilet and the shower are together at the downstairs and that is the only toilet they have. they asked me to pic a bed as all were empty and ready, so i picked the under bed. i realized the blanket was smelly when i was ready to use, then the bad smell come out so strong after i opened it then i saw long hairs are sticked on it.obviously they folded it back after the previous person used. then i tried to get the blanket at the upper bed and it smell fresh like after wash. even though i'm the only one to get the room on that day but i saw hairs and dust are all over the room when i checked in. I don't know how long they has not clean that room. with the price that they gave, I don't think it's value for money.

Sleeping with Bugs”

Checked in to a room here and realized that no one has been cleaning the room thoroughly, the top of the power switches, cupboard, etc, was filled with dust. We didn't want to complain as it was a short stay and one star hotel. But! That's not all, when we returned to the room at night, we found not one not two but three roaches!!! When we told the hotel staff about it, he came in with a feather dust, yes a feather dust, to eliminate the roaches. Needless to say, none was killed and went into hiding under the bed, tormenting our sleep with the fear of their appearance. We asked for a check out the next day due to it. After the night sleep and not trying to think too much of the roaches, we were asked by the staff the next day if we were checking out. We decided to stay on as we got lazy and fortunately none of the roaches bothered us the previous night. We were hoping for some form of compensation or complementary, and guess what, none. Of course.. the second night was also filled with roach smacking action in the room. And the constant fly that was there to watch. So, if you want to experience roach whacking, fly waving and dust breathing for your stay in Malacca. I truly recommend this hotel.

located near the Jonker Street, Hard Rock Cafe and other interesting places.

I love the location of this hotel but I didn't satisfied with the facilities provided by this hotel. The bathroom should be provided in each floor, because this is complicated for girls to go downstairs to use the bathroom for shower. The location of the bathroom is located just across the waiting area. How about if there is/are male visitor/s waiting in the waiting area? Therefore, it is not convenient for girls. Besides that, the accommodation like wifi and television are not available. I think the hotel should change the list of the available services. The room is somehow dirty. Apart for that, we were not given with the room key so it is somehow dangerous for our belongings. We noticed that the receptionist had frequently visited the room. Above all the location is strategic and many nice places with just a walking distance only, but the hotel need to upgrade its standard and facilities.
