Nice place”
Can't deny that this is great value for money, the place seems like its being refurbished at the moment but it certainly still feels like you're staying in a super nice hotel eventhough you're paying almost nothing. The only problems are that it seems the staff are not trained at all, I understand not being able to speak English but they kind of seemed like they didn't know how to check someone in either, which made the whole process a little stressful. We also had a phone call to the room at around 10am and then because we didn't answer they came and knocked on the door to check when we were leaving, the booking states that checkout is at 12pm so it seemed unnecessary to disturb us at this time. A nice stay but needs lots of improvements.

Big and clean rooms, too bad that the staff don’t speak English...

Ok for the price”
Nothing impressive but ok for the price.

Not senior friendly”
High step up and into a full size bathtub to shower, is very slippery. Mattress old and had no support. Major facelift to hotel entrance is underway. Clean room, budget priced and convenient location, however outside local city footpaths are very dangerous and in poor repair. Parked scooters and businesses use all space. Often need to walk out on the road beside parked cars in the main traffic lane.

construction site”
We thought the hotel was closed down when we arrived. It looks more like an construction site then a hotel but the room that wasn’t in the main building was still good.

Practical but lacking in character ”
This hotel was fine, no real complaints (except maybe breakfast), but it did nothing to stand out. The hotel was big and felt very empty which isn't bad but was a bit weird. Lobby decor ranged from Egyptian papyrus prints to framed Disney movie puzzles, but the room was not decorated. It was clean and functional but very plain with no character. I got the impression other guests were students in Chiang Rai and international guests were a little uncommon. The staff were friendly enough but had quite limited English; in a mix of English and Thai we sorted out everything we needed to. The cable tv had no English channels which we didn't really need or expect, but it would be nice if Agoda could indicate this. The breakfast was more than just the toast and jam some places offer, but was still underwhelming. Fried rice (which was a little under cooked), egg, and hotdogs. Once there was a bug in the rice, but that was probably just bad luck that day. Golden Land is fine as a practical place to stay, but for a holiday there are better value options. At 550 baht it wasn't expensive for Agoda, but we found much better value places elsewhere.

NIce Friendly Hotel & Staff ”
Enjoy your stay here. Quiet and friendly. A little off the main road but offers good rooms at a good price with a nice cafe. If you want the noisey beat of a city this is not your hotel. If you like a quiet place to enjoy within reach of the noise and attractions you will like this hotel.

Budget hotel suitable for short stay only....”
We stayed here for a short stay in Chiang Rai to visit family. This hotel is budget with only basic facilities and suitable for short stay. The hotel is ageing and has only basic rooms as expected for the price. If you're after a BASIC comfortable stay in Chiang Rai for a short time, I would choose this hotel.

Golden Land Hotel”
Apon arrival we were greeted by staff who I could swear was there first time in a hotel. The Bell man apparently also doubles as a police officer. We gathered this but the police holster belt which included hand cuffs, pepper spray and a radio. Luckily we only were there for the night. It's very private as we were the only guests staying that night. If you want something cheap and want to have a good laugh, stay at the Golden land hotel!

if this was a three star hotel elvis is alive”
golden land hotel, i booked this hotel because two the better class hotels were full, it was three star, very good breakfast, wi-fi in every room restaurant, none of these thing were true, they did have a room for breakfast open from 7-0 am io-0 am. on tuesday morning went down to breakfast 8-3o am, to find breakfast was closed, after knocking on the door some one came and open the restaurant for me, food marks out 10 would give 2, one thing i'm very sure of they never found me a room with wi-fi in, or in any other place, sorry i can not find anything good to say, about golden land hotel, will not be going back there.

excellent value”
The hotel is located about 1.5km from the Night Bazaar, so I used a rented bike (aprx baht/day) to get around. Room was in 1/2 a duplex-like building, with covered parking. Comfortable bed with bathroom en suite. Excellent A/C. Clean. Not much in the immediate area. A few blocks away is the old airport which has been converted into a municipal park

Our stay ”
Value for money, yes. The reception staff where terrible. No smile, no hello and I felt like I was an inconvenience to them. The building is old and in need of a paint. However the rooms where clean and spacious. Coming back to the hotel at approx 11pm and no lights on in the hallway on the 2nd floor and had to use the torch on my phone to find our way to ther room. A nice welcome is easy to do, a nice smile is even easier. Lift your game.

Not So Golden”
Having seen the pictures of this hotel on the net before booking, I was quite disappointed with the sight that greeted me upon arrival. Both outside and inside the hotel looked like it was abandoned before the final touches were made. However, my room was clean, quiet and functional which was really all that mattered to me. The location seemed a bit lonely and out of the way which is no problem if you have your own transport. Breakfast was an absolute shambles. The dining room was a mess and the staff didn't seem to know what to do. The food on offer was very poor. Eat out or bring your own. Having said all that though, for the sale price it wasn't too bad. If I had paid the full amount I would have been most unhappy.

First sight: "is this place abandoned???"”
I wouldn't recommend anyone staying here. First of all, the photos of place are radically different from it's current condition, so you'll be a little confused when you arrive. The staff weren't helpful, the internet in the lobby is poor (no wifi in rooms and nothing at all worked "for macs"). It's a bit of a walk from the main part of the city (but not terrible), which would be fine if there was anything interesting around - and our shower was broken. Cable TV is great if you're interested in any of the 8 channels in Thai. There are many other places to choose from, so take the time and review all of your options before booking this place.
