The hotel is located within in the center of all the good restaurants and shopping areas. I had a standard room so accommodations were basic at best. Shower didn't drain very well but a good value for what I paid. I did enjoy the rooftop pool and bar. I would stay here again for the value.

My window opened into the building next door and the whole of the sleeping building felt a bit like a hostel. The other reception building must have been much nicer as they had better balcony outlooks. The location was really great if you want to be in the buzz and action of Patong.

The pool on the roof was average, the gym small and poorly equipped, the buffet breakfast poor selection and sparse, the room basic, outdated small, shower temperamental. Hotel building located opposite sister building of Gig hotel

Check-in staff told us breakfast 150baht for guest. Morning staff at restaurant will charge 300baht. Informed manager and they said what's done cannot be undone. When I said this will leave a bad name, manager said its ok. So here it is...

I stayed here on 2 separate bookings for a total of 7 nights. As I stated in my previous review: This place is amazing. Book now. You won't be disappointed. You share all the facilities of the main "GIG Hotel", but for a fraction of the price. People at the GIG Hotel were paying $80 per night where I was paying around $20 to stay at GU Hotel. GU Hotel is basically just 2 towers of rooms, all the staff and facilities are from the GIG Hotel. The staff at the GIG Hotel are SUPER friendly and easy to communicate with. The breakfast buffet is really good (it was included in my booking through Agoda). The rooftop facilities at the GIG Hotel are absolutely incredible (infinity pool with saltwater, gym, sauna, bar and restaurant) all with a beautiful view of Patong beach (the sunsets are amazing from the roof). That is what really sets this place apart in my opinion. Try to get a room in tower 2 as tower 3 can be quite noisy. My recommendation is odd numbered rooms e.g. 2XX1/2XX3/2XX5 because they have a view. Even numbered rooms are facing another tower so you have no view and not much natural light.

GU Hotel is part of GIG Hotel, which is double the price. They had our rooms ready by 11am. I was so happy that we didn't have to wait till 2PM like most of the hotels. But when you stay at GU hotel it is pretty much like you are staying at GIG as you can use their swimming pool, gym, breakfast etc. The hotel is just 10 steps away from GIG hotel. so it's like just walking in the corridor. But when it rains it does get annoying. The pool was amazing with a great view of the city. Location itself is 10/10. very close to the shopping mall and everything is happening around you. It was no loud at all we were able to get a good nights sleep without any loud music or people screaming. We didn't have to hire a taxi everything we did by just walking. I lost my swimwear and when I contacted the hotel they were very helpful and concerned about it, they helped me to look for it and found it in the laundry. Staff were great, they were always willing to help. The rooms were a bit small but it didn't matter to us as we spent most of our time outside and in the fabulous pool.

Good choice in Patong ”
Good location in Patong , walking distance to Jungcelon shopping mall , Bazaar market , night market and the beach . Hotel is clean, very helpful and friendly staff , good breakfast buffet , amazing rooftop swimming pool which offers nice view. Gu doesn't have reception , guests use Gig's hotel all facilities such as pool, gyn room , restaursant but Gu is just in front of Gig hotel . Anyway would recommend it to anyone .

We stayed in the GU for 3 nights and it was so good ,we stayed for another 3. It wasn't the actual hotel itself that was amazing, I mean the room was basic definitely won't blow you away, pretty dated and the shower is hilarious, it sprays everywhere but straight lol and it soaks the bathroom. However,opposite was the GIG hotel and the rooftop pool was unbelievable. An infinity pool overlooking Patong and happy hour 3-6pm 100baht cocktails! It made our stay really! Breakfast incl was $30AUD a night,bargain!Location is brilliant too, in a cul de sac but only a street away from Bangla road but you'd never know. Staff were super lovely too and brekkie was brilliant, western and Thai food! Only massive downside for us was the aircon.. I'm not a light sleeper and even I had trouble sleeping the 6nights..it was so so loud:( it took us ages to sleep but other than that everything else was minor and we had a ball at this hotel.. Maybe just drink a lot of chang and you won't hear the AC ha!
