"Hakone Kowakien Tenyu met my expectation in every way. We are a family of 4 and have booked 2 rooms for our stay. Our flight to Tokyo was delayed by 2 days due to Typhoon so we didn't have time to enjoy Hakone before our hotel checkin. We had a day tour in Tokyo instead and was dropped off to the hotel by our driver at 7:00pm. Due to our change in plan, we had to cancel our spa reservation at this hotel. With our reservation package, each lady/girl received a very pretty yukata kimono to wear during our stay and to bring home. We dressed and had an excellent multi course Kaiseki meal at their restaurant. Staff were attentive and provided excellent service. My daughter is allergic to fish and they designed a totally different menu for her to enjoy. After dinner, my daughters enjoyed the private spring soak in their room while I tried the public bath. It was a great experience. The whole place is zen and tranquil. The outdoor bath is an infinity pool with an excellent view. The next morning, we woke up early and enjoyed their beautiful scenery and private garden. We took lots of beautiful photos in our kimonos. Later we tried the other outdoor public bath which showcased a natural waterfall with beautiful rocks surrounding the area. Our skin and hair felt so smooth and glowing after the bath. Their multicourse breakfast in Japanese and Western styles were both excellent. You can tell that they put an effort in ensuring guests have a good experience here. Reception staff helped us arranged a taxi transfer to the train station. Everything went well. Their gift shop carries lots of local and private brand products which are all reasonably priced. I bought all my Hakone souvenirs from here. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Hakone. I feel refreshed after the night. Next time I will try their spa service. "

"This stay was by far the best accommodation during our trip. The room was extremely spacious with a gorgeous view facing the river and autumn leaves. Imagine going to sleep and waking up with the soothing sounds of water flowing down the stream, absolutely relaxing. We only had a night in Hakone, so decided to skip out on the sightseeing bits and instead checked in on the dot at 3pm. Was a good choice as we had the chance to relax in the room and also since dinner was to be served at 7pm. The hotel has a hot foot bath area on the lobby level, with the same view as did our room so it was really pretty. The kaiseki dinner was extensive and pretty spectacular, and the breakfast the next morning was a generous and beautiful spread as well. There are 2 floors with onsen (hot springs) which we managed to try both at night and the next morning. Amazing in the cooler weathers, wish we could've spent more time there. There is a gift/souvenirs shop at the hotel as well, which was very convenient. Hotel staff were very helpful and polite as well. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend to my friends. "

The hotel is close to the cable car which allows travel and it is easy to walk to the Hakone Open Air Museum. To top our stay off when we requested a taxi to get back to the station the hotel offered to take us for free. Great way to stay at Hakone, would stay again "

"Really enjoyed the single-night stay at Yoshiike. Okay, so this place surely isn't the *bling-bling*, new and modern, luxurious hotel. But my experiences here were one of the best within my entire Japan trip. Great service, of course. But most importantly, the location... You "must" seek for a hotel near Hakone-Yumoto for optimal transportation experiences and other factors such as restaurants, souvenirs... And the sceneries both inside and outside the hotel! Beautiful and very well maintained all-around. The staff are not the greatest English speakers, but does enough to support your visit. The only downside I can think of was the fact that the air-conditioning wasn't so great. But with the garden-view with the natural breeze through the windows were just enough for us any way. Totally visiting again, if I can."

"We had a wonderful one night stay at the Nakamura ryokan. This is a traditional, small family owned establishment set in the lush Hakone forest. We had the dinner/breakfast package, which I would definitely recommend as it was delicious and excellent value. The owners were very welcoming, and speak some English. The two onsens were very nice, and the larger one has beautiful views through the bamboo. The tatami rooms are large (ours had a separate dressing room and small seating area), and the shared toilets and sink were just outside the room. The hotel is only a 5-10 min walk from the nearest bus stop, although (like much of Hakone) up a very steep hill. Alternatively, a taxi from Gora train station is ~1800 yen. Hakoneyumoto station also has a luggage delivery service (800 yen) - leave your bag before midday and head out sightseeing, and your bag will be at your hotel by mid-afternoon. "

"We stayed one night at Hakone Hotel. Location is very close to the busstop (to Moto-Hakone,....,... and finally Odawara) and Hakone-Machi Pier (Hakone Sightseeing Ships from Togendai). Staff is very friendly. We stayed at twin room.Facilities are very good and rooms are comfortable(at front deck, we requested lake view room). Two ladies who were at front desk can speak English very well and nicely talked with us.One was pleasantly guided us. However, foods are very expensive in Hotel restaurant. In overall, Hakone Hotel is very good option to enjoy your holiday with family. "
