Comfortable, convenient, carefree”

The hotel manager Yoshi, the convenient drop off/pick up at the mountain base, and the relaxing atmosphere

I'm an American college student currently spending a semester abroad in Japan. I had a week off of school, so I headed up to Niseko, and this hotel was exactly what I was looking for. Cheap, nothing super fancy, but still with everything I needed. The Hotel manager Yoshi is one of the nicest people I've met on my travels. He will take you to the mountain base, about a 4 minute drive, every morning at 8:30 for 200 yen or anytime you like for 400 yen. He offers pick up service form the base at 5:30 and 8:30. I speak some Japanese, so that is how we mostly conversed, but his english is good enough to communicate about anything you would need. The rooms are small, but the futons are comfortable, and after a long day on the mountain, a bed was all I needed. There is a powerful heater in each room that kept things nice and toasty. There is a full kitchen that guests are free to use, and a fantastic bath/shower hut that is really steamy and relaxing. The hotel is located right next to the train tracks at Hirafu station, so it is super easy to find. If you are on a budget, this hotel has all the basics that your are going to need to live comfortably as well as an extremely friendly manager who really cares that you enjoy your stay. Definitely a good authentic Japanese travel experience. 10/10 would stay again.

Cosy and traditional”

The interior design, the shower and the guesthouse host.

It was really lovely here! Especially if you're after a traditional experience (we got the private room for more privacy- I would recommend this option) - I especially loved the bathhouse (I've never seen anything like it actually...) Everything is carved out of beautiful wood inside the house, and being surrounded by trees covered in snow when you walk outside in the morning is breathtaking! It's easy getting to and from the snow- you can organise this with the host (he can help you get cheaper lift tickets too). Make sure you time your train rides though if you're coming from sapporo - trains towards kutchan/Hirafu/niseko aren't frequent

Great Stay”

Warm and friendly staff, cosy and clean log cottage and directly accessible by train to nearest large town (Kutchan)

My group ski-ed for 5 days and we booked Hirafu Station Guest House. It was a clean and cosy log cottage with full self-catering facilities. The staff was also very helpful to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The Guest House is located right next to the JR station so we could pop over to the nearest big town Kutchan for groceries or try out the local food eateries there. I would recommend this place especially to families who have children. It'll be a fun experience for them.

a good stay”

staff,service, location

Our stay at the Hirafu Station Guest was absolutely marvelous. Everything about this place smacks of Japanese culture, idioms and quality. The host, one Yoshi, was a pleasure to be around. He went to great lengths to use his broken English to help us in every conceivable way, including "making fire for safety". I would absolutely stay here again and hope to one day in the next 18-24 months. You're welcome.

Great hidden gem”

This is a great place for solo or couple travelers (if they have the room available)....I think families are possible too. I was here on a ski vacation and was pleasantly surprised that the proprietor (Yoshi-san) can help to arrange everything - lift tickets, rentals, morning and evening rides to grand hirafu resort, etc. A must-try if you are looking for something new or off the beaten path.
