Good hotel for the budget consious”
For the price of an average hostel in most cities, I stayed in the Hotel Hanya Satu. Room was clean and had various ammenities. Nice A/C. TV and Coffee. Hotel is in the middle of what appeared to be a china town about 2-3 KM from the ferry I was taking to indonesia. There were plenty of options for meals and a fair priced internet cafe next door when I needed to check email. (I only speak english and too.) The shower heater wasn't working, but the water wasn't freezing so no real issues with any part of my stay.

Nice average budget hotel with good location”
we spend 2 nights at this hotel and we have a good stay. the room is small but good enough for the price,plus the wifi is free. the location is good because really near of many food stands and mall,also near of johor bahru ciq (immigration) if you come from singapore. if i should go to johor or singapore and need good hotel with reasonable price,i will stay here again.

Comfort hotel for solo traveler”
Though it is gonna be long way walk to Hanya Satu, but in fact it is not. Need less than 20 minutes walk from JB sentral where a causeway bus transfer me from Senai airport. Easy to find hotel,near JB City Square. one line with Citrus hotel. The hotel is a simple building. Has to pay attention to get it there. Greet by young lady who help me get information and she let me to borrow plug in. I like the local food around hotel, but I do not like the mosquitoes on my room and the dark hallway inside hotel (in relation I am a woman solo traveler)

i'm traveling from hanoi in vietnam by buses and trains to jb staying at least 12 hotel so far, and here is a best hotel i've ever stayed. hotel staffs are so friendly, and comfortable (private shower and toilet, clean room like new hotel, elevater), and safe (card key which updates everyday), and good hospitarity (hotel staffs help me go around the city). and reasonable.

This is very ideal hotel room for budget traveller like me and my friends, after check in afternoon, we went shopping until night at jb city square and looking for food at nearby food street, then went for massage and return to hotel, sleep till next afternoon. It's worth it.

Fantastic Location”
stayed there for a night, great location since its near to custom and city square mall. the rooms are great although the room for 2 can be really small. a budget hotel so i believed that its more than a great stay for individuals who dont expect much other than a shelter over our heads!

i have pleasant stay,big room, helpfull staff, close to jb sentral that can accomodate u to go to main location in jb(saving alot for transport). and the must important this hotel is close to hawker food. food paradise (try chicken bbq behind meldrum hotel)this is the reason i choose this hotel. minus: i think they need to re paint their room, the wall looks disgusting, peel off paint, dirty horror! also need to maintence their shower room. hand shower at my room is broken.

i would highly recommend this hotel to my friends because of its very warm and accomodating staffs, especially janet and the hotel manager who personally attended to my family's needs. i appreciate the efforts of the manager who succeeded in making our stay as if we never left home. i definitely would like to come back and recommend this hotel to my friends and my family.

hotel with a nice service and great location”
The front desk people are very nice and friendly.. I came at 11.OO pm and they accept me without many question. They are very helpful. Well the remote control of TV isn't work (but it just a small prob). The room is small but it is nice, not to clean but its still acceptable. And the very best thing the location, many food in front of the hotel, also near to immigration checkpoint to singapore and near to JB sentral (Terminal for KL Rapid). And at the last day I check out at 9am and I can deposit my baggage until 9pm and they didn't ask for any charge.(Its very useful for backpackers) ;)

Dusty room”
Stayed in room 307. Room was dusty and had a stale smell. Coat of dust on top of the TV. Bathroom floor was dirty (oily). Asked for a non-smoking room but was given a smoking room instead. Dust and smoke-ash on the table-tops. Did not expect the room to be windowless. Will be trying T-Hotel the next time instead of staying at Hanya Satu. Aircon was working well. The location was good. Hotel has an elevator. Sufficient power outlets in the room to charge a handphone etc etc. Handsoap and toilet paper included. Bring your own toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, facewash, shower foam, shampoo). TV remote control provided. Water heater was terrible because the whole floor was sharing a water heater unit. You have to go downstairs and tell the staff that the water heater is not working everytime you needed a hot shower. And then the hot water will "run out" shortly later. Very inconvenient.

Nice budget hotel with good location”
This hotel located in a very good location.Just opposite the immigration building. Nice for peoples who intended to travel to SIngapore. There are a lot of food stalls around the hotel. You can easily find breakfast and dinner around the hotel. There is a shopping mall also nearby the hotel. Value for money is good. The hotel cleanliness and comfort is average but still ok considering its price. Overall this is a good hotel.

Location was the best. Just walk 3-4 mnt to JB Sentral. Room furniture was old. Bathroom fan and AC was noisy. The staff was nice. In front of hotel there was a restaurant Bakut Teh (pork herbal) and it was good

Absolutely Appalling”
This was my first and definitely last stay with them. Had wanted to have a cheap but at least decent lodging for a one night stay in JB and the reviews seemed ok. So I went ahead and made my booking but believe me Hotel Hanya Satu is an absolute disappointment. The rooms where small, dark and dirty, nothing like what was shown in the pictures! There were no basic toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste, even towels. The trash from the previous tenant was not even cleared when I checked in. I know this is a budget stay but still it has to have at least some standard and cleanliness. For anyone looking to book a stay here, I would strongly discourage them from doing so. Even just for a nights stay.

Just about ok”
Located on Jalan Meldrum, the main tourist street in JB so there were plenty of restaurants, money changers and so on nearby. The hotel is about 3 minutes walk from JB Sentral shopping mall too which is useful. The staff were friendly and helpful. This was good as I didn't feel happy leaving my laptop in the room, so I left it in the managers' filing cabinet. The room was approximately like the photos I saw, but felt much scruffier - very small, no windows, hot water not working, shower wall mount broken, AC could only be set to freezing or off. So overall it was not a very comfortable stay. The internet cafe downstairs is open 24 hours but full of people playing loud music over the computer speakers. I would say this hotel is just about satisfactory but there are lots of others on the same road which are only slightly more expensive but much higher standards.

Budget convenient hotel”
rooms are simple and no wardrobe nor drawer provided. just only table that mounted on the wall and queen size bed. suitable for budget transit traveller those are not really into comfort stay. but many shops at hotel doorsteps that carter authentic hawker foods and famous barbecue meat chain outlet will keep you out from hotel room most of the time.
