Excellent choice in Cat Ba Town”

This hotel is beautifully situated right on the edge of town with uninterrupted views across the bay. We stayed in a suite on the sixth floor, which was amazing. The room was spacious and comfortable but what made it really special were the floor to ceiling windows and huge balcony-definately worth the extra money. The view of the bay and town was beautiful, both in the sunshine and all lit up at night. Breakfast was good. The bar/coffee shop outside was a lovely place for a drink in the evening-especially if you like listening to karoake. (Cat Ba seems to be the karoake capital of Vietnam). The staff were lovely and friendly, and very helpful. There are lots of good places to eat nearby and the beach is only a few minutes walk away.

Magnificent view !”

Hung Long Harbour Hotel was a pleasant surprise for both of us! Spacious room with a magnificent view overlooking the Halong Bay! It was claming and therapeutic. Although the staffs speak limited English (English is not their first language) their willingness to help is very much appreciated! We have decided to make another trip back to Cat Ba Island with our friends and to stay at Hung Long Harbour Hotel. Thanks to all staffs working in Hung Long Harbour Hotel making our stay memorable!

Harbour Hotel”

One of the local landmarks in Cat Ba Island offering very reasonable rates Most rooms have balconies with Harbour fantastic views to watch the Sunset or Sunrise Excellent location Walking distance to many shops, restaurants, public market and much more. Management here looks aftet you and listens to you. Highly recommended

great balcony and view, really hard beds”

our stay at the hung long harbour hotel was fine, with the only real drawback being the beds, which were super hard. it felt like just a piece of wood, with a blanket over it. we inquired at the front desk if there was anything they could do, and we got a few extra comforters which we slept on top of. it helped a little, but was still very uncomfortable. other than that, the hotel itself was fairly generic. it looks new, rooms were large and very clean. the front desk staff were very nice, not super great with english, but then again i speak no vietnamese so i can't really complain! they tried hard to be helpful, but we had several instances where they seemed a little overwhelmed (example - when we checked out at 5:30 am the one gentleman at the desk couldn't figure out how to use the credit card machine, so we had to attempt to find actual money to pay for what we had drank from the mini bar) the location was good, on the main street but just a short little walk down away from everything. and by short i mean only 2-3 minutes. and the view was amazing, although any hotel facing the bay will have the same amazing view. what i loved, and the reason i booked this hotel, was the private balcony overlooking the bay. cat ba is a small little town, not a lot to do at night, and it was perfect to be able to end the day sitting on the balcony watching the bay. the only reason i can't recommend this hotel is the beds.

Great location and lovely views”

The location is great, less than 10 min walk one way to Cat Ba town and another 10 min walk the other way to the beach. The view from the balcony is stunning at sunset overlooking the harbor. The breakfast was good with a nice variety of both western and traditional dishes. Cons: it is a bit pricey and the reception keeps your passport instead of making a copy. I guess this is typical in some Vietnamese hotels but I never like leaving my passport.

Great view from the balcony”

Our brief stay was marred by the passage of Tropical Storm Jebi which nearlt shut down all of Cat Bi. The front door was barricaded with guests using the side employee entrance. The balcony provided a commanding position to watch the wind and waves of the storm. The hotel did their best to endure the near typhoon. Many of the windows in the public areas were leaking, evidence of the lack of building codes and inspections. Off to the far right of the main town strip, all of the restaurants are still in walking distance. Rent a scooter for USD 5 and explore!

Would not stay here again.”

I wanted to splurge a little on a hotel when I got to Cat Ba island, but was so disappointed with my stay at Hung Long. For more than $100 a night, I booked a room with an ocean view, but was told when I got there that the rooms were sold out and I had to stay in a room with a mountain side view. The room was on the second floor and the window faced the rock side of the mountain with barely any space in between. The room was damp, clammy, and smelled like mold. The bathroom also did not have a pleasant odor. The tv was small and the wifi reception was weak. There was also a gecko in the room!! We were so uncomfortable and unable to sleep with it crawling near our beds. We asked the reception to move us to another room, but unable to do so, we were told a housekeeper would come and help rid us of it, which they never came. The only good thing about this hotel is the location and the breakfast was fine, but overall, this was not worth the money and the staff could have been more helpful.

Clean and good location.”

We moved into this hotel after staying 2 nights in an awful one. Rooms here are clean. Great balconies with sea views. (Make sure you ask for sea view though). Don't go by photos alone as they don't always match what you get. We go open shower but picture showed shower glasses in. Again coffee/tea cups are NOT provided. This seems the case in 95% of Vietnam hotels. This does need to be addressed. The staff here were nice and friendly. Would stay here again.😁

Nicest in Cat Ba”

Had a nice stay at this hotel. Staff were a bit confused by my Agoda receipt when they got the booking from something called "Booking.com" which I am not subscribed to...made for an unpleasant SNAFU that seems to be Agoda's communication problem rather than any fault of the hotel. Was upgraded to a nicer room by lovely Staff because the room I booked did not have a balcony like the picture on Agoda. I'm happy.

Nice base to explore Cat Ba”

Generally good stay, located at end of harbor strip so short walk to shops,restaurants and beaches. Breakfast good, staff good but not exceptional. Hotel generally pretty clean and comfortable, quiet location with great views from rooms. Would not recommend hotel laundry service - cheaper to get done elsewhere and they shredded a pair of my shorts.

Decent hotel with great views”

We paid around 42€ for 2 nights, room with a balcony. Hotel is a bit older but that wasn't a problem. You get this hotel for the view really. The only problem is that there were maybe 3 LOUD karaoke bars at this end of the bay going until around 11pm. So forget a pleasant sit on your balcony in the evening. It didn't bother us much but you won't be able to sleep before 11pm.

NOT a non-smoking hotel as advertised”

Pros: Great location, good views, good free breakfast, consistent good wifi, daily cleaning and change of bed and bath linens Cons: Most important for me, this is NOT a non-smoking hotel as advertised. There is an ashtray on every table in the common areas, in every room, in front of every elevator and every ten feet in every hall. Guests and employees alike smoke in the lobby and restaurant. When you select non-smoking room, it means absolutely nothing-- the ac/heater will still smell like musty smoke, and they will put chainsmoking guests in the rooms next to you. I stayed there for over 3 weeks in the off-season and they kept doing this despite repeated complaints, even though the hotel was half empty and they could have easily respected my wishes. No bikes or motorbikes to use or rent; I asked for a reservation for the bus/ferry into Hanoi and gave the date and time, but discovered the morning of it hadn't been made; coffee shop was never open (but i guess it was the off season).

We had a room with a balcony, with an amazing view. The room was beautifully decorated, just like the pictures. The staff was very helpful. They helped us book a boat trip (even though we actually paid a bit more than half of the people who took the same boat. And the itinerary was not correct...) The breakfast was good. The only big downside is the Karaoke on the first floor. It was so loud you could have thought they were actually in the room. But it stopped before midnight

Excellent hotel for the off season price we paid. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Wonderful view from the balcony”

The room was nice and the hotel is well located a bit outside of the village. The breakfast is very crowded between 7 and 7.30 with Chinese and Vietnamese groups. If You go later not every thing You need for a good omelette is available. The staff in the morning is very lazy and not very helpful.

Very good”

Great location. The balcony for our room was amazing. Room was clean, however there was always a humid/musty/moldy smell after the door had been shut for a while. Buffet/cooked to order breakfast was a great bonus for the price.

great location with views of harbour”

Lovely room overlooking the harbour and very close to the town centre and beaches. Hotel staff were not very customer focussed and the breakfast was very poor quality and range of food on offer. Who serves 'powdered fruit juice mixed with water' as a drink choice for breakfast. The beds were very very hard and not comfortable at all.

Beautiful view”

Beautiful view, if it's the winter I would recommend to take the rooms without balcony, the view is better but during the hot season a balcony is useful.

Very nice hotel with excellent sea view”

I was very satisfied with stay in this hotel. It has mazing view to the sea. The rooms were clean, internet was just fast enough and the food in the restaurant was good too. Only do not take the massage. There was cold in the room and the girls there really cant massage. My friend had a massage too and we agreed it was the worst massage we ever had.
