I really enjoyed my stay in In Calm Hostel. It was the best hostel I have stayed in last 5 weeks in Bali, I would say, and it was mainly because of the people and the environment there. Very quite, peaceful and full of nice people--many of the them were long-term, like a months to over half an year. They go surfing almost EVERY MORNING AND EVENING, so if you are a surfer and like to stay somewhere nice and quite, this is the place to be. I am not a surfer but joined them few times, just for watching sunset and swimming. All staff, Dani, Lucky and Viki were very friendly, helpful and hospitable. The owner was a friendly humble guy, who is staying just next door. The AC was working great, once it was not working but when I informed them, they called a repairman on that day. Wifi was stable so seemed like there are quite few long term guests who are travelling and working online as well. Equipped with hot shower and the pool table is available until 10pm. A staff clean the hostel 2~3 times everyday. It is about 15 mins drive from the beach side(batu bolong, Berawa...), so you definately need a scooter or just grab a Gojek. I was 'in calm' as it is called while I was staying there. Initially I booked here for a night and eventually it turned to 10 days in total. I even changed my itineraries. So be careful when you get there 😂 Will be back for sure when I visit Bali next time.

Rooms are very comfortable, staff very friendly and always available, there is a shared kitchen and fridge available which is great. The garden is fantastic, not too close to the beach so you need a scooter but in a quite area surrounded by rice fields. Smoking indoor has been finally banned 2 months ago, so ignore reviews about the problem of people smoking everywhere, I would not have stayed there otherwise,. Good place for working and relaxing, not a party hostel. Bathrooms should be improved.

This hostel have sharing kitchen. The tea, coffee and drinking water are free everyday. The room is really comfortable, there is garden that is perfect for relax and chill. They have high speed Wifi.

Loves to stay in this hostel. Quiet environment, with cheap place/warung to buy food and groceries. They provide scooter for rent, it really helps me to go anywhere. Free towel, blanket to use, also 'all you can drink' free mineral water, coffee and tea during your stay. Beautiful garden for relax and yoga. So recommended!

Didn't know it was smoky place”
It's nice small tidy place, but there was smoking all over with ash in lounge (not because of cleaning staff but guests!). At night couldn't sleep due to snoring guests, but worst was smoke from main lounge seeped into the room. If it is pro-smokers hostel, please let all of us know before booking.

Dear Dennis, I'm sorry for your bad experience with us. We are not allowed people ( guests and staffs ) to smoke inside the bed room, but yes,smoking is allowed in public area. We are not pro smokers tho, we are neutral.
