location is not too far (15 minutes walk) but it is very hard to find. maps make me confuse wheather i need to pass the ciq complex or not (i dont see any exit without immigration clearance). i asked for local, and they said there is no exit at ciq.. i keep walking and walking i walk here and there for 1.5 hours, then i ask auxiliary police to help me find the way. and finally, the police said i need to pass the ciq complex first and walking to the exit.. . very tired and trauma. room is ok, but i will never comeback here

Dont Go to JB Getway for Private ROOM Use”

The Double Room shared an Air Conditioning(AC) which is access through 1pigeon hole above the door. Imagine it was set at 27C as instructed by the Hostel Owner in Hot Humid Malaysia. Also found that the AC could not achieved 16C when set as it has not been serviced a long time Left the hostel after 2 hrs as it is too hot In a huff, left behind new Samsung Note 5 phone with Cash in the pouch and other identification documents. When contacted JB Gateway denial we left the expensive phone & cash Dont use the Hostel as they are a gang of thieves

Dorm Stay in JB Gateway Hostel ”

Location wise is super near to the CIQ, however this place is hard to find if you are coming from JB sentral and not going through CIQ. I have my walk around 30 mins to find this place. There is no big title or shop name in front of this hostel. Only when you walk to the door and look up you will see a notice made up from paper or plastic. In my humble opinion, the place itself is quite dodgy. At night there is virtually no shop opened. Thereby including the secluding factor of it. If I don't ask the front desk personnel where is the nearest food store. I will never know where to eat. Perhaps the most important point, is the dorm itself. It is very noisy, super noisy even when I put my earplug on. If you look at google map, the dorm location is just in front of JB EDL (the super highway that link JB and Singapore). Expect real noisy automobile sounds at night. Is bearable for one night but for multi days god knows how anyone can endure it. In addition, if you are looking at the comments written for this hostel. I do believe the ranking of 9.7 is given by the owner itself in a purpose to inflate this dorm rating. Given a choice, pick a better dorm. KT

Serene Hostel offers the closet proximity to the Malay Singapore border with only a 15 min walk. From the immigration center you can also access JB Sentral (trains and buses) and City Square (shopping mall). At Immigration head to the water fountain and look for the stairs on your right. Take these and follow the path until you see the exit for JB Sentral and City Square on your right. From JB Sentral you can take a bus to all major johor shopping malls and to tourist attractions like Legoland, Johor premier outlet for off season branded apparel, Hello Kitty and Puteri harbour. Walking from the hostel to JB Sentral takes about 20 min. If you want to explore Malaysia more the train station or the Larkin Johor bus terminal offer interstate buses to other destinations in Malaysia (Melaka, KL, Penang). station can bring you all around Malaysia like penang and melaka. A night train operates to KL (RM33 each way). Other than shopping and travel around Malaysia, our hostel also offers good amenities around the hostel. We have a good indoor basket ball, badminton court and community park just two row of house back of the hostel. We have many local eateries (seafood, chinese, malay and indian) nearby. If you are adventurous enough you can try famous local Chinese herbal rice noddle soup with pig intestines located at the food court 10 mins along the motorway on the right hand side If you exit the hostel and cross the motorway to take Jalan Pertiwi and then Jalan Perdana, this will lead you towards the seaside. Once you reach the sea if you follow the road left you will pass a KFC, many restaurants and a 7/11. At the end of this road is the ferry terminal to certain Indonesian islands. It is also a duty free zone where you can get cheap beer and cigarettes. Serene Hostel is great accommodation for both long and short term stays.

Hostel offer the closet proximately to the Johor immigration by 15 min walk. Walking to the immigration johor Malaysia will bring you the the Singapore woodland. Immigration in johor not only as the check point for guest to go in and out Singapore but also as a connecting point where the hostel, transportation hub and johor city. Walking through the immigration you will reach Jb central where is the transportation hub for bus and train station. You can take a bus to all major johor shopping mall, shelter bus go to all tourist attraction places like legoland, johor premier outlet for off season branded appeal, hello kitty and puteri harbour. Walking from hostel to the transportation hub JB central is about 20 min. Another 5 min walk will bring you the singaporen made famous city suqare shopping centre and johor old city facing the causeway of singapore. if you like to explore the Malaysia more the train station or the Larkin Johor bus hub offer interstates bus station can bring you all around Malaysia like penang and melaka. We also have the night train in the Johor Central beside immigration where you can sleep in the train over night and reach kuala lumpur kl in next early morning and take the free shelter around kl like KLCC, KL tower and many more. After you finish a day tour in KL you can take night train sleep the way back to johor again. The train ticket is only RM33 each way. Other than shopping and travel around Malaysia, our hostel also offer short trip and good amenities around the hostel. We have a good indoor basket ball, badminton court and community park just two row of house back of the hostel. We have many local eateries like seafood, chinese food, malay food and very good indian food near by. Myself preferred the indian food in the johor town near to the city indian temple. From hostel to the community sport, leisure park food court, grocery stall and famous seafood is just 10min walk. If you are adventure enough you can try local famous food

Great place to travel to Johor city and singapore”

It was very good have the great location and easy access to Singapore and Johor town without waiting for bus or taxi. Transportation hub for train and city bus are at 15 min walk only. Lego land and Johor premium outlet are direct bus from the hub.
