I really enjoyed my time at the Sugar Palm Hotel in Karon Beach, Phuket. It is definitely the best hotel money has ever bought me. It was clean, staff were friendly, very close to the beach, and had a lovely buffet breakfast. They had movie rentals for free, free bottled waters, pool towels and even a balcony to catch the last bits of sun. It was recommended to us by some friends and I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it anyone heading out that way. Thanks to the staff who made our weekend so nice and relaxing!

I would stay at the Secret Cliff every time I go back to Phucket, it was the best hotel I've stayed at and I cannot praise the place or the staff enough. Although it is more expensive than some of the other hotels in Karon I would say its well worth the money. The offer free transfers to the beaches and will help with any tour options or scooter hire. And they have a great little restaurant called coco pizza which I loved. The infinity pool was great for sunset cocktails.

We had a great week in the sun on Karon beach. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk away (no hotels are on the beach). The staff were excellent and very helpful. The breakfast was amazing. There were no problems with the internet. The only issue was on checkin they got mixed up and tried to give us a smaller room. I had my agora booking and after some insisting they went online and realised the mistake. If I hadn't been paying attention I would have been downgraded. After checkin the desk clerk escorted us to the room, which was refreshing. The hotel was fully occupied during our stay with mostly Russians, which wasn't a bad thing. In fact, most of the visitors at Karon were Russian. Every morning after breakfast we'd go to the beach and rent a couple on beach chairs and umbrellas. You gotta get there early (by 9am) or you may not get a chair. My better half isn't a good swimmer. Karon was perfect for her as the water gets deep slowly and wasn't rough. Every night we'd eat at 1 of the many restaurants. Great seafood of all kinds. Sushi too. We rode elephants one afternoon at a nearby place. It was the most expensive part of the holiday - about $50 each. It was the middle of February, so was a very busy place. If you want a real quiet holiday this probably isn't the destination for you. I was last in Phuket in 2000. The island of Phuket has changed a lot since then. It's becoming overcrowded and overdeveloped. That said, it was a great time.

We travelled during low season, which meant Karon beach was relatively quiet. It was the second time I'd travelled to Phuket and we chose Karon beach as we knew it would be quieter than Patong with fewer (drunk) tourists. We were there for 6 nights (mid July) and lucked out with no rain, although I know it had poured almost constantly the week beforehand. The resort is a little dated and could do with some renovation works. Pool lovely and cleaned twice daily. We had a triple room (queen and roll away single bed) with pool access which was awesome. Free water supplied daily, as well as towels for teh beach, which is directly across the road. Beach itself is lovely and a lot nicer than Patong. Very clean and few locals trying to sell goods. Those that did pass weren't pushy at all. Sun lounges at the beach available for rent for 100 baht from memory. There are warning signs at the beach reporting strong currents...but there was always a lifeguard on duty. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was good...though you get sick of it after a few days. Had a good mixture of Asian and Western foods to choose from. Karon Plaza market (selling clothes, shoes, souvenirs etc) is right next door, as is a strip of restaurants, convenience stores and massage parlours. Some of the other resorts in Karon looked a lot fancier (the Movenpick, for example), however for the price, Woraburi is really recommended. If you're keen to go out every night, best to stay in Patong as Karon beach is a little far away (20 mins or so) and the Tuk Tuk costs add up. Woraburi provides a one way t/f to Patong twice daily. Just make sure you book in advance. Staff were great and helpful with tips about the area, including how best to get to Phuket town (massive night market where everything is a lot cheaper than in Karon and Patong...T-shirts 100 baht, Raybans 100 Baht, dressier tops 200-300 depending on the quality). We booked a few tours at a local tour agent which were great. Enjoy!

Convenient for food. Turn right walk less than 10 min there are food and fruits stall available. On the left there is a Mini market and fruits stall. Walk further down few min you can reach Movenpick. Just turn right walk all the way you reach temple market. The market is only available on every Tuesday and Friday. Turn left walk further you will reach Hilton, walk further down you reach another small shopping area. We booked a deluxe ocean view but was surprisingly given a room which is pool access. The room was big and clean with bathtub. I enjoy going to swimming from my room, it is very nice relax at the balcony with a swimming in front of me and it is quite privacy. The breakfast was very good. I enjoy having breakfast in front of the hotel while watching the beach, people and car passing by. Beach in front of the hotel is very beautiful and not crowded.There is a bus stop in front of the hotel. It is a public bus going to Phuket town. I also saw some tuk-tuk writting to kata beach-karon beach. For transportation going to Patong I pay 300bath per trip which is a minibus. This minibus happen to send some visitor to karon beach and I am lucky to find him. The only transportation from Karon to Patong is by tuk-tuk and the rate is 350 bath to 400 bath.Airport transfer to karon beach by minibus is 200 bath per pax. You find a weighing maching at the lobby for guest to check the luggage weight. Wifi was very good in the room.

This is a good hotel in Karon, for families. You will find several large swimming pools, a great gym that to work off the pad thai, and nice large rooms with balconies. Because you are in Karon, expect that this will be a quieter part of Phuket. You will experience beautiful sunsets and restful sleeps. The breakfast buffet was good. I cannot comment on other meals served. There are a few bars around the corner that you could go and spend time in which are pleasant. You will not hear any of the music inside the hotel. I would say that the hotel has seen its best days past, however, as the decor seems a little dated.

We stayed 4 nights but we mostly spend time at hotel at night. Because we arranged tours in day time each day of our stay. Most of the tours start around 9 AM so the pickup vehicle will come around 7 30 so the hotel arranged us early breakfast on request. Rooms were not too large but comfortable and full of facilities. We had few issues during our stay but the staff able to provide good service and make them correct. Phuket is nice place to visit but when you are arranging trips don’t be hurry you will find those tours very cheap. Best thing is to check from few places and then buy it and bargaining is more important. If you take shared transport from airport they will take you to tour arranging place, best you don’t buy any because you don’t have any other places to compare price. If you come to Karon you will find lots of places like that and cheap. For shopping karon is not good place because it’s very expensive. The best place is to shopping is ‘BIG C’ supermarket in phuket town which most locals doing their shopping. Clothes, shoes fruits and foods are cheaper than any other places in ‘BIG C’.

We were looking for a place where the place itself can give us the feeling of holiday in the east, specially in Thailand, with green surrounding and intimate accomodation, not the big kind of 10-15 floors hotel. We were delighted, it was just what we wanted, it was hugh to wake up here, to have breakfast, to walk in the evening on the pathways and the steps. We loved the steps, but its true, You must be in good form! Only come here if You take Your time, no hurrying without swaeting ;-) You have two small swimmingpools, very nice, good for a siesta, maybe not enough to spend the whole day there. You can access the Karon Beach from the swimmingpool by 3 min. walk, where You can have nice and cheap food compared to the "hotel" restaurants expensive prices. We ate once at the Centara, and never again. Food was great, but it is everwhere for much more less. From Centara there is no way to walk in the evening to nice evening or shopping places, You are rigth at the top of the Karon Beach part. So or You take always a tuk-tuk, which costs You every ride 200-400 bhat or You hire a motorbike (we did) for 250 per day, it is realy worth, and so You can go everywhere, find other beaches, like Kata beach, nicer than Karon, or go down to Rawai beach from where You can go to the Islands with longtail boot, and in the evening to Patong for nightlife.

Booked this because it had good reviews on trip advisor. It did not let us down. The location approx 10 mins in tuk tuk from Patong and 3 min walk from Karon beach was great as it was out of the hustle and bustle, but near enough if we wanted to dip in. The individual villas were lovely with a huge bathroom, big enough bath for two, separate shower. Also we had a separate living area and a bedroom with a super king size bed, and a separate walk in wardrobe ( garden room). The food at the restaurant was superb and not too badly priced for hotel food .. I fact we ate here most nights because the setting at night time was idyllic with the garden and pool lit up, and provided an environment free from the noisy brashness of Karon Beach restaurants. The Aircon in the villa was very effective, if I had to pick one minor fault ( and it is a minor one) the bedroom Aircon only seemed to have 3 fan speeds of fast, super fast and turbo-light speed fast which was provided a bit too much air turbulence at night when trying to sleep. On the whole I would recommend this as a place to stay and would gladly go myself again.

The best experience that we have had in Phuket and Thailand for that matter! The staff is just amazing! They went far and beyond to make sure that my family, especially my two young boys (ages 7 and 0.5 yrs old) were having the time of their life. The rooms were very comfortable, at the beginning I thought the beds were going to be too hard for me, but in our two week stay there, I did not have any problems with them, I was able to sleep well. The brekfast buffet is a must!! Great array of southeast asian and western items, so many great fresh fruits as well. Here is where I began experiencing their great customer service, the first day, my wife and kids were so tired, that they were about to miss the breakfast buffet hours, I though i would get some bread or fruits to the room so they could eat something after the buffet closed (many hotels will not allow you to do this) so I asked the staff if that was ok, and their response was beyond amazing!! They began collecting food items such as bread, omelettes, yogurt, fruits, juices, cereal, coffee, etc. put them in several plates on a tray and took those to the room so my wife and kids could eat and not miss breakfast. I was simply shocked at their great service!! The two staff members were simply amazing with our family, they did everything thwy could to make us comfortable, giving us great recommendations about the local beaches (Karon and Kata), they were everyday with a smile trying their best to make us feel fine. The only thing that we did not like much is that it seems that this is a stop hotel for many Chinese tour buses, and some of the guests (not all) were smoking in their rooms (and then you could smell it in the corridors and a little bit in the bedroom), and sometimes they will slam the doors as well. But in any case, these minor things would not overshadow the best hotel experience that we have had in Southeast Asia. They are simply great! We want to comeback next year!

I have stayed at the Andaman Seaview in Karon three times. This time I stayed in a standard room which opened up onto the childrens pool. The rooms are very good size and contain everything you need in a hotel - including hot water maker. Staff are always friendly. Breakfast buffett is extensive. Hotel is a few steps to beautiful Karon beach - this was the first time I used the beach - is a beautiful beach and great for swimming - very clean and safe. Also just in front of the hotel are excellent restaurants - cheap with wonderful food. A few steps from hese are many massage shops and a bit of a stroll takes you to Kata or Karon - either are easily accessible with a short walk. Only negatives this trip were that the hot water was only luke warm, and the internet cost is higher than it should be. I will stay here again.

Booked this place as a secret deal so had no idea which hotel we would get. Ended up with a 2bedroom suite which was huge and luxurious. Enjoyed having a hotel close to the beach with excellent pool and opportunity to use amenities at other partner hotel for no extra. Staff were really friendly and received welcome gift of breakfast as well. I encourage anyone to book the secret deal as you might end up with a bargain! Karon is over the top with wall to wall tourists and constant requests to buy cheap stuff but staying her made it worth it

We made the trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a great experience to be greeted with friendly smiles after an hour long car ride. Don't get me wrong, the driver sent to pick us up from the airport was a very friendly guy. However, it took almost 50 minutes to travel from the airport and that kinda dampened the happy spirit. Anyhow, the hotel staffs were excellent and welcoming, making our stay very comfortable. We made friends with the guy who delivered our luggage to our room. The room we got was spaciously big and modernized. I almost wish it had been my own apartment where I live in 365 days. It is that comfortable. Kitchen comes fully furnished with all utensils and stuff, except food of course. Dewa Karon is also very close by the beach. You just have to walk about 5-10 minutes and you get to the beach. For a lazy bum like myself, the walk was a relaxing one. There are many shophouses and a night-market once you walk to the beach. Couple of restaurants that you can have your meals, prices aren't expensive too. The only con when staying in Dewa Karon is lack of spa salons. We didn't get to experience the in-hotel spa as it was closed by the time we got back from the beach every day. There was another spa resort next to the hotel. We tried that. It was medical for me but my husband was sore from the massage. If you travel to Phuket specifically for spa and relaxation, then I guess Dewa Karon might not be your best choice.

The hotel is perfect, it deserves all the 4 stars, comparing to the price the quality of the hotel and staying over there is perfect. Karon beach is very quiet away from the loudy nightlife of patong, have everything around. This hotel is very good if you are looking to spend your holiday more in relaxation. The hotel is just in front of the beach entry. Staff were very friendly and professional, they speak good english, they are very helpful all the time. The pool is very good, you can see big phuda from the pool in the roof. My only negative comment is there was a charge of 1000 bhat for any visitor, apart from that everything was perfect, i would definitely come back to that hotel again.

After staying in two other 3 and 4 star hotels in Karon beach The Old Phuket had me hooked after my first night. The hotel is set back about 150 meters from the beach , just down a small no through road. The hotel has a very nostalgic atmosphere with a beautiful reception area surrounded by lush tropical well manicured gardens and fish pools. Lots of space here to move around, with green well kept lawns, to a library and a small gym with some cardio equipment (no weights)The restaurant is outdoor with a turn of the century charm, and the breakfast is excellent as far as IM concerned. The hotel appears to have three wings, two newer, and one older. I stayed in the new wing, and the room was way above average, including rain shower, raised glassed in bathtub, patio furniture and relatively comfortable bed. The highlight of this hotel (new wing) is the amazing swimming pool. Swimmers, triathaletes this is your place as the pool has 3 sectioned off 40 meter lap lanes (aprox 40 meters) to do laps. The water was clean, cool and a treat to swim in. Ground floor poolside rooms have Jacuzzi jets and relax contoured pool edge on there balcony.

We 4 people stayed there on 11/09/2011, and we could never expect the hotel could be this spacious. The rooms were very clean, comfortable with all the necessary facilities (carpet, safe, towel for beach, ...). Moreover, there are a 2.7m swimming pool, a swim-up bar and another pool as well (I wonder why they do have so many swimming pools here). The location was great, just opposite to the quiet Karon beach (but not calm during this rainy season). Not a lot of shops around, but a couple of nice restaurants are available for your choice. If you enjoy nightlife, this might not be the place for you. It's more for relaxing, somewhere you could avoid the crowd, and it is very true for the Karon beach itself. The staff service is nice and friendly. The only drawback is their English not so good, so you might have some difficulties asking them for service. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this hotel for everyone. It is really worth much more than what we had paid.

My mom and I stayed at the Ramada Phuket Southsea for 3 nights. It was a great value for the money and you couldn't beat the location. We would highly recommend staying in Karon instead of Patong. The Ramada was right across the beach and the pool area and swim up bar was lovely. The hotel is due for some rennovations, but that kind of seemed to be the trend in Phuket in general. We did have issues with our room card working, and kept having to go get staff to let us into our room until they were able to fix it. That was the only annoying thing. The free breakfast buffet was outstanding! We ate at the restaurant once and it was good food and price too. The hotel has a concierge service there to help with airport transportation or day trips. Tik was very helpful with an airport shuttle and booking a day trip through Diamond Sea to the Phi Phi Islands. Would highly recommend that trip as well! The shuttle picks up and drops off at the Ramada.

We stayed at Ikon hotel for 1 week. We booked a mountain view room. We had view on the swimming pool and partial view on the ocean. The hotel is on a main road to Karon Beach. A bit far from the beach but it makes the hotel quiet. There's a free shuttle to the beach twice a day. The room was very nice and comfortable with a good size. The bed was huge and very comfortable too. Breakfast was a nice start for the day. Good choice of eastern and western food that changed every day. Service at breakfast (like all the staff of the hotel) was very friendly and professional. You just can't go wrong picking hotel Ikon unless you want a beach hotel. Everything is very new and done with taste. Overall, it's a very good value for money. I will definitely go back if I travel again to Phuket.

We stayed here as a last minute deal when our other hotel failed to meet our needs before arriving. We were greeted by friendly faces. The hotel was great for us with a short walk to Karon beach and all the restaurants, shops etc... Full size refrigerter/ freezer with 2 bottles of water daily. We would again come back to this hotel. The rooftop pool was fabulous. The only thing lacking was the restaurant. The thai food very bland to our tastes. We also had a burger and roast beef sandwich this was good. I think the hotel is best at American food since the owner also has a tex mex restaurant and a steak/rib cafe called Karon cafe which we also ate at and this was good. If you want away from it all this is the place and it is affordable even in the spa. We both had thai massage which were great. The mini mart was over priced but the convenience for water was great, instead of lugging this up the hill from the town.

I stayed at the Front Village Hotel from September 19 to September 28, 2009, and very much enjoyed my stay. My room was spacious, nicely furnished, and very clean with a view overlooking the beautiful pool and a peek at the Andaman Sea. The staff were friendly and helpful. I appreciated having a locking safe and minibar in the room with complimentary bottled water provided daily. There were towels provided for both in room and poolside use. The restaurant was pleasant with good food and reasonable prices, and the complimentary breakfast buffet including made to order omelets was a great plus. The location on Karon Beach was a reasonable walk to Karon town, but if you wanted to go further, Tuk Tuk and Taxis were expensive. I solved the problem by renting a motor bike. They are readily available, cheap, and easy to operate, but there is no insurance, so there are both physical and financial risks that you must accept. The hotel does not have wireless internet, and the charge for use of their computer to access the internet was expensive. Near the end of my stay, I found internet access at a hotel in Karon town for only 20 baht to log on. The pool is only open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and I like to swim later, like 8 or 9 p.m. after my day's activities and dinner, so that was a minor limitation I did not like.

i read a review to get a room, not a bungalow - definitely worth it - we got a room on the top floor - the room was very nice, and had a balcony, with a view of the ocean. sunsets are the best in phuket, so having this feature was well worth the money. the double level pool was nice - and when we were there, not many people used it. we could easily walk to the beach and to restaurants, as this hotel is right on the border between karon and kata. when i was in phuket before, i stayed at katathani and i didn't like the beach as much at kata. and patong is dirtier and more crowded. karon is a nice middle ground. but if you have a week in phuket, i recommend you stay in two places, or at least take the time to travel to other beaches. i was surprised at the cost of the tuk tuks, but as gas prices are high, a 15 minute tuk tuk ride could cost you $10. this can add up if you are trying to get to different places, so we opted to just change hotels mid-week.

we stayed at this hotel for 10 days for our honeymoon and had the best experience. upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff and offered a cold drink which was nice after a long day of travelling. the rooms were nice - modern, stylish and we had a room with a sea view as well so we could enjoy the colours of the sunset as well as watching the hustle and bustle of the street below. the location was good - not far from the beach at all as some had mentioned. it's about a 10 minute walk and you pass the market/food stalls in karon along the way so it's a great way to explore karon. a taxi stand is also across the street. overall, we had a pleasant experience and will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, families or couples.

for you guys seeking a relaxing place for your stay in karon beach phuket, sunset plaza is a great place to go. the modern architecture and the quietness of the place is the first good impression you will have. this good impression will be confirmed as you enter your 2 bedroom apartment with ocean view. the place is very spacious, clean and comes with all facilities to make your stay enjoyable. finally its location is a must for great sunset lovers. definitely 2 thumbs up for sunset plaza and looking forward to our next visit

i was here for just two days. when i reached, i was brought to the poolside suite when i have asked for the seaview room. please make sure you know what you have booked for, because they might just tell you that the room you booked is not available and expect you to take what they have offered. be firm and insist on your room, because thats what i did and i still got my room. aside, location was really good- on your right from the hotel is the main street and left is karon plaza and more mini shopping lanes. all the way towards the main street end is karon night market ; open on sat when i was there. beachfront room is perfect. quiet with just 1 room aside from mine located in another building. just that they really need to review the 1 hour free wifi. that doesnt make sense when you cant even access wifi at all in your room lol. staff is amazing. the front desk guy, jerome is a really nice and friendly guy. heard hes on internship from manila so hey if youre from the management of this hotel,please commend him on his job! hes really nice to guests. will come back for the beachfront rooms again! :)

We originally booked for 3 nights and we ended up staying another 3 nights. Its a new hotel. The pool is fabulous. We only went in a couple times when my bf got food poisoning. But the beach is right across the street and i recommend that. Its next to 7-11, laundry, and a pharmacy. Great restaurants nearby(we loved ying) and a market where bartering is very much alive. The room is secure and ac works great. The service is lovely as well, we went to the restaurant to have breakfast every morning and it was delicious. You get what you pay for and we will definitely be back next time we are in phuket.

We were happy that the hotel could accommodate us with the deluxe room due to overbooking with the superior room that we initially booked for. The hotel is situated about 5-10mins walk away from the main town in Karon Beach which is a fair amount of time and it is nice that it's situated on a hill so the view of the Karon Beach if you have rooms with ocean view is good. The only down-fall is walking up the steep slope to the hotel lobby, but I would say it's a good few seconds exercise from all the eating in town. The hotel has a unique elevator as a mode of travel from the lobby to the resorts. It's quite an interesting experience riding on that elevator. We really enjoyed our stay at Karon Phunaka Resort because it nicely situated on the hill away from the crowd and noise. It was relaxing and rejuvenating especially sitting in the jacuzzi at night on the balcony. Would consider staying again if I were to head to Karon Beach in future! (:

We had a great stay at Horizon, 3 nights upon our arrival we were greeted by staff eager to please, they continued to be friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We were upgraded to a room in the privilege wing which certainly made us feel more like we were getting value for money. Our room was huge, big bathroom with bath and shower, large TV, balcony with lounges and just generally clean, neat and modern. The position is great, some ppl may comment about the hill to the resort, this was my only concern about staying here, we are a fit couple but I am not great in the heat and didn't want to spend half the time looking like a tomato. But really, unless you're in a hurry in the middle of a sunny day and with a number of bags you won't struggle, and if you do there's air con in the room to cool you in a matter of seconds and it just makes you crave the awesome pools even more (privellage wing pool bar have a great happy hour(s)also). Alternatively just hang around for a few mins and catch a tuk tuk up the hill. The hill also accounts for the tsunami safe zone. The resort is at the kata end of karon beach which makes for an easy walk to Kata Center which is good for some variety from the Karon strip. Karon is definitely quieter but to its advantage, the beach is heaps nicer and when you're up for abit more party grab the free shuttle to Patong there and back, if you want a late night a tuk tuk isn't that expensive 300 baht at most. The only downside was price, but I do feel we made sure we got our money's worth on this particular trip. My only comment to the resort was to put a shuttle on in the morning, I would have liked to venture Patong by day and Karon and Kata by night(for free) as well as the other way around. We will stay here again should we venture to Phuket!

I had one of the best hotel stay in Phuket at Baan Karon View. If one is looking for a serviced residence with all the amenities, this has to be the definite choice! Located at a slope overlooking part of Karon, this serviced residence is spacious and clean with cable TV provided. Swimming pool and gym is just right next to the apartment. Food is available just a 10 mins walk away at nearby Karon beach and the front desk people are ever so helpful and friendly. Overall a very satisfying stay indeed!

we stay tree night for business, and i miss to can not stay longuer. the peuple which take care the villa are very nice and helpfull to discover all thing in phuket. the location of the appartements is very good , because very quiet and just 2 mn from karon beach which is very long and beatiful. the sand is perfect and so thin that first time we can have this feeling on the beach... it was a very nice stay and hope to come again. * chock dee*

I stayed in both the penthouse and the King Studio. They were both very well furnished and modern. Nothing was broken down and everything was extremely clean, the air conditioning work perfectly, the showers and bathrooms were huge and the location was perfect. Its really a hidden gem. The xtra bonus is the great gym right downstairs. Best gym in the area.
