Private beachfront location and fantastic sunset”

Friendly and helpful family, excellent food, peace and relaxation on the beach

From our frontside bungalows we could see the wide sea curvature of the Earth and Sunsets bringing back memories from Boracay in the Philippines. Some bungalows right on the sandy private beach but all have seaview. Best to swim at high tide. The owners love their animals, and Laila, the oldest is a friendly dog, responding to our long distance calls. The white cat love to be photographed and to view herself in the mirror. The thaifood in the small restaurant is very good, beer is served and the relaxed staff do their best for their guests. If you want to have a glimps of the last dugongs in the world they arrange a Longtail-boat, 1000 Baht, paid directly to the boatman. Arrival at Koh Libong by Tiger-line + the local crowded longtailboat is not recommended as you arrive at the east side of Koh Libong and have to travel 9 kilometer by Tuk-Tuk-Taxi to the West Coast. The staff are helpful to find alternatives

Basic Resort with extremely friendly team and host”

the service is very personal and extremely helpful

As opposed to most travellers I have met at the Libong Resort, I have stayed more then a week. The basic room I rented was basic but clean. A fan to keep the heat at bay and an ok mattres was all I needed anyway. But what made my stay there so completely fun and enjoyable was the extremely helpful and friendly owner and her team of caring and good-spirited people. She helped in every way possible and we had a good laugh here and there. All in all I would recommend this quiet, off-the-beaten-path resort with a perfect beach and an impeccable team to anyone looking for a quiet time close to trang.

Wonderful hotel!”

I really enjoyed my stay at the Libong Sunset hotel. It had a lovely family run atmosphere that made me feel instantly at home. The bungalows are right on the beach, and you can hear the sea when you wake up in the morning. The sunsets from the beach are beautiful. The staff at the hotel were lovely and the food in the restaurant was excellent. I'd highly recommend the hotel!

Very good”

It's the cheapest place to stay on Libong on the booking sites. If you want any cheaper you might have to check out the homestays in Bata Bute (not advertised online). The staff are friendly and the rooms clean. The cheapest rooms don't really have a seaview, but they have a balcony which does. Motorbike 350 baht per day, a bit expensive I think, so I rented a bicycle from Sea Breeze Resort for 100 baht per day. I didn't eat at the resort, the prices were fair enough for beachfront I guess but there's a little fishermans cafe 5 minutes walk away where the prices were about half. I can't remember the exact name but it was something like Rai__ Seafood. Food not amazing but did the job. A big plus about this hotel is that it has a free kayak for guest use. If you have some stamina and the sea is calm, you can go around to where the dugongs are (just before you get to the pier at Bata Bute). It took me about 60 minutes of hard paddling in each direction and then about 1-2 hours looking for dugongs. I saw a dolphin and at least 3 turtles, you need to keep your eyes open and be quiet. It is a long way so only attempt this if you have some experience kayaking.

OK”

Libong Beach Resort is situated on a stretch of beach that houses 3 other resorts, but is the cheapest and best value without a pool. The restaurant seemed popular but the clever money went to the "Fishermans Cafe"in the nearby tiny village,,the highlight of my 3 day visit. The beach on this section of the island is pretty average and only looks good at high tide,,low tide is unattractive and un walkable. Maybe this is why this island is so bereft of resorts and tourists. Also alcohol is only available at the resorts as most of the local ladies wear scarves,,but cook delicious food as already mentioned. Ideal if seeking tranquility,,not if in party mode

A nice view of the sunset over the ocean”

Being on the water's edge was very nice

We booked two nights here over New Year's and enjoyed our experience on the island of Libong. The staff were friendly and the setting was quite nice. We enjoyed it. The food for breakfast was ok, but the man serving us was very friendly. The beach is more scenic than a great swimming beach as one has to be careful where one walks in the water. The people on the island are friendly and we would go again.

One of our favourites stays while travelling Asia! Our room was nice and spacious! As soon as you open the door you are greeted by the wonderful view of the beach. The staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcome. It’s called Sunset resort for a reason...every night the you would see the sky lit up red with the sun going down. We would 100000% come back!

Good value but many limitations”

I found Sunset Resort to be quiet, clean and the price was very good. I had fan room with shared bathroom. The beach was disappointing (coral was mostly dead and the water not very clear.--but this is true in most places now due to global warming). The best place to go for that is Koh Kradong. The water was clear, there was some living colorful coral, small fish and just off the beach. The restaurant at Sunset was pricy-- 60 baht for a coffee and for a medium sized fish about 400 baht, which seems expensive. However, about 100 meters from the entrance is RIMLAY SEAFOOD Restaurant, and there one could order a fish for dinner and the cost was only 200 baht. Very friendly people and the owner provides inexpensive travel to nearby islands or snorkeling trips for a good price (by the boat-- up to about 6 people starting around 1500 baht. He can pick you up at resort, which saves trip to the pier.

Tranquil, no distractions.”

Good clean bungalow, helpful friendly staff, unhurried atmosphere.

At first I thought it was deserted, but that's the idea on Ko Libong! If you're looking for peace & quiet this is for you. Give yourself enough time to slow down to the pace of life here and you'll love it. If you need things to do, music & bars, etc., you'ld be better off on another island.

Total relaxation”

top-clean bungalow (1 of 10only) lovingly furnished and located very close to water`s edge with wonderful sea view (islands) in a quiet, almost private corner of bay.

Very, very nice! Very friendly and caring hotel ouwner with worldwide travel experience and excellent English skills. Atmosphere: like being with long-time friends! This place is just perfect for chilling out, and quite romantic. Quiet. Not really ideal for little children. Very shallow sandy beach, so on low tide water retreats quite a bit and rocks appear, but even so, access into the sea is not a problem at all if you walk around them (on fine sands). Bungalow perfectly equipped with moskito-screens; bathroom-fittings complete and modern; bedroom very nice, with with love for little details. - Fishing village close by and very interesting, people really friendly; 1 good bigger supermarket; outdoor restaurants 2 or 3 worth a try. Nice rainforest hill beind hotel. Come again for sure!

The staff were brilliant. The food was fantastic and great value. We had a bungalow and it was strong and sturdy during the storms. A little bit tired. No wifi but there is a bar 5/10 min walk away which has good wifi signal. We had good service and were allowed use of the kayak free of charge. This resort was great value for money and providing you remember that you are on the edge of jungle and should expect creepy crawlers is great.

Currently this resort is undergoing an overdue refit. The owner, Patrick, and partner are committed to customer satisfaction and any request is given their full attention. Food in the restaurant is very good. Main drawback is the rocky beach at low tide, unsuitable for swimming. I think that in 6 months time the resort will reflect the refurb that is currently taking place.
