Find hotels near Mae Sot in Tak, Thailand

Although there are many good quality hotels in Mae Sot, many of which are brand new, the Centara is the only international standard hotel in the whole city and probably the whole province, with the exception of the capital, Tak. This is because the hotel offers full facilities including buffet breakfast, lunch, dinner (2 restaurants), room service, a business centre, conference and event facilities, a pool and gym, a bellboy and numerous services such as massage, airport pickup/drop-off, a travel agency on site, gift shop and others. I have stayed at the Centara dozens of times in the last couple of years as I come up to Mae Sot for business multiple times per year. Although the hotel is showing it's age, the rooms are functional, the beds comfortable with nice soft mattresses allowing a comfortable night's sleep, the wifi is pretty OK these days and the breakfast buffet is pretty good too. I disagree with the reviewer that said the location is bad with no restaurants around. On the contrary. The city's largest shopping mall Robinson is located directly opposite the hotel, you can head out of the hotel, cross the road and you're there. Numerous restaurants, cafes and a food court are located there. For something more local, there are numerous restaurants located along the bypass road just after Robinson's too. Getting into town is greatly simplified with a car or motorcycle, it's only a 5-10 minute drive, though you could walk it in 20-30 mins. Apart from the market there is not a whole lot happening in downtown though, relatively few restaurants of note except for the consistently good western favorite, Krua Canadian. Aside from this you'll notice a lot of Burmese number plates during the day, as Burmese come across for shopping and trading their wares. The border crossing is the main crossing for overland travel to Myanmar and is one of the main reasons foreigners travel to Mae Sot these days.

Modern, minimalist, ultra-clean hotel. Rooms are not big but efficiently designed. The location along the highway is great for people passing by, a bit less for those who are traveling (if you have your own transportation then it is not a big deal). The value is probably unbeatable in all Mae Sot.

will definitely stay again when i come back to mae sot. the staff were friendly and helpful and even when they could not always understand english made attempts to understand what my request was. the breakfast was not always hot but a good variety offered. it may be good to offer tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. the hotel was modern and i really loved the 'retro' but very modern furniture in the lobby. i hope this hotel does well and will definitely recommend it to any friends who visit mae sot.

this is a typical thai resort. we stayed in a bungalow which had clearly been renovated and was very comfortable. the bngalows are in extensive well kept grounds and are exceptionally clean. the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful despite their limited english. the restaurant serves excellent food in good portions at a very reasonable price. we cannot fault this hotel especially for the price and will stay here when next in mae sot. the only downside is that it is a little out of the way being around 4 km from mae sot. as we have a car this was not a problem for us.

I enjoyed the pleasant staff, comfortable beds (hard, but not as hard as many Thai hotel beds) and full range of breakfast choices. The hotel is on the airport/border side of Mae Sot, but still inside the main town and within 10-15 minutes walking distance of the better tourist restaurants (Famous Ray's and Casa Mia). I heard the burgers at Famous Ray's are good, but I had such good tortellini at Casa Mia on my first night, so I returned again. I would also recommend the motorcycle dealership "Park Motors" which is along the same road, but about a mile further on the opposite side of town. I rented a 200cc motorcycle there for 250 TBH/day and went for a 5 hour ride in the mountains. Later that day back in town I crashed the motorcycle and scraped up the muffler guard, broke a side mirror and some other small damage. They charged me only for the parts (about $40 US) which was more than fair. This is an honest shop that you can trust. They don't have a large selection, but you can rent smaller scooters there for 150THB/day. Enjoy your stay in Mae Sot.

Baan Rabiang Mai was a splendid place to stay in Mae Sot. The rooms are gorgeous. The staff were extremely helpful. For example, we forget the hotel arranges transportation to/from the airport. The manger reminded us and then paid for the taxi. The 4 star rating is definitely deserved, and we will definitely stay there again when we return to Mae Sot.

The cottage bungalow are very nice, located in the middle of the nature. In the "negative" side, food at the resort is quite expensive (+30% of normal prices at least) due to the remote location of the resort. Breakfast is so-so. Resort is suitable for people traveling with car between Mae Sot and Tak. Not really suitable if you are not driving and together with older people (path to the bungalow is a little bit "sportive").

We arrived at this hotel at dusk to be literally greeted at the car and checked- and settled-in with wonderful solicitous care by the fantastic hotel staff. For the price, the room was large, with everything and more for the price. I sipped free, supplied coffee and milk from the upstairs balcony as the sunset displayed golden colours while setting over the nearby steep mountains, just inside southern Myanmar. I enquired about the Im Hotel, to be told that it was opened in October 2012, one month previously. It is a little removed to the north of Mae Sot centre, but only 1 km away and very close to the main intersection near the sportsground. This is a good thing, because the town centre of Mae Sot is less than scenic. Thus, we spent two lovely night at Im - full, in Thai, aka satisfied - with great wifi and a superb bed to sleep in. We disappointed the fantastic staff by declining breakfast both mornings but that could have been had in a separate cabana in the garden - great concept - with brilliant, smiling service. Im? YES,we were, and, paw jai mahk - thoroughly satisfied. We would recommend Im to everyone. If you have transport, then there are several sightseeing opportunities in the province of Tak, and specifically, too, within reach of Mae Sot town.

I really liked Thanavill. It was nice little place a bit far from city center but the owner always gave me a bike if I wanted. The room was clean and tidy and the staff were amazing. We had some problems with communication in English but they really tried their best and we solved everything out. I really enjoyed my time in Mae Sot even though I was only staying one night.

This guesthouse is more modern than some others in Mae Sot and my room was very clean and relatively large and comfortable. The main drawbacks are the location - for me, it was quite far from the centre of town, although if you have a car this might not be an issue - and the lack of a place to work. Breakfast included almost no vegetarian options and the guesthouse is too far from town to step outside and get something healthy. Staff were friendly and efficient.

I have spent over five years living and working in Thailand, travelled all over the country, and RETRO in Mae Sot was one of the best experiences in terms of value for money. Simple accomodation, but very clean and friendly staff. It would be interesting to see it after few years if the owner manages to maintain the standard.

The place is nicely done, has a cute garden, and the room was lovely. Comfortable bed, cozy warm blanket, good warm shower, and big sink in the bathroom. The furnishings were all very nice and new, and the cleanliness was impeccable. The WIFI works great everywhere in the hotel. It is a bit in the countryside outside of Mae Sot, which gives it a quiet and relaxed feel. You will hear frogs, crickets, and roosters, rather than cars and people shouting. Still the town can be reached on foot within 15-20 minutes, and there are also some dinner options and small shops in the village down the road five minutes away. The room has very quiet AC. The free breakfast is a mix between self-service bread/toast with jam and coffee/tea/ovaltine, and freshly made-to-order fried eggs (and if you like, sausage and/or bacon). The breakfast area is nice and rustic. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again in the future!

First time staying here, but my 5th in Mae Sot. T House is located just off one of the larger central roads, and is withing walking distance of many of the towns better known restaurants. The rooms are all well maintained and spotlessly clean. The beds are comfortable, and the aircon units quiet and effective. I recommend staying in the main building as the 'standard rooms' in the smaller building don't offer a lot of sound proofing against noisy guests. This would be my only complaint, as otherwise T House offers exceptions service and value for money.

The agoda map is not right again!!!!!!! If you do not study maps of Mae Sot then you will not find the hotel and be very careful driving in Mae Sot because alot of people that live there have said alot of people that live in mae sot do not know how to drive and are very reckless.

baan kiang chan in mae sot was quite difficult to find... but everybody we asked seems to know about this hotel. it is a bit outside the town in a quiet location and we just fell in love with the place! although none of the staff speaks english, they are absolutely top in service and friendliness. we arrived in late afternoon and planned to have diner at the hotel. there is no cook in the evening, but one of the staff got our orders from a restaurant nearby! being woken up by soft "new age" music in the compound might seem a bit too much for some, but can be relaxing for others...

The guest house is very hard to find out of town and you have to walk from the ferry jetty that goes to Hengsheng casino, 200m along the river side towards Mae Sot center. It looks like it is deserted, but there are people around that run the 6 or 7 motel style rooms that are kept spotless with hot showers, AC, TV etc. They are catering for people going to the casino so if you are going there and don't plan to hang around in your room it could be a good idea to go for this very cheap place. As many people come and go to the ferry it's quite easy to get transport into town. A truly odd place!

Took the bus from Chiang Mai toMae sot to cross the border to Myanmar and this hotel is located ideally. Just 5 min walk from the busstation. And our hotel hostess aranged a cab to bring us to the border.

i book this hotel on 2 period, each only 1 night via agoda, this is the 1st night, it is very good. However, on the 2 nd night, even though we had informed the hotel , over for our booking, and will coming back, and it is for 4 rooms. I can not beleived, the hotel tried more than 2 times to sell or cancelled our booking, and force sell out our rooms to the other bad guests. That is their very bad behavior, that I can not accepted their attitude towards the hotel business, over the advance, prepaid booking Z particular via AGODA. I kept told them i am on the way back for our room, we tried to hurry back to get our pre booking rooms, we arrived the hotel by 3.30 pm, the hotel kept us sitting, sleeping for 3 hr. and give too many room, that they said they kept for us, for our group over the phone, to the late comng group tour, and to the our walk in guest. and ignor us whose pre paid, booking them confirmed by twice, over the phone, even we go their counter, and make noise .

I had a very pleasant stay at Baan Maitee Boutique House, good American breakfast and correct service. After a telephonecall the owner picked me up at the busstation in Mae Sot, he was very helpful and serviceminded.

A modern hotel, I was given a pleasant room on the ground floor. It is a very 'Thai' hotel. I stayed 4 nights, the hotel was quite busy with individuals and groups, all of whom appeared to be Thai, I was certainly the only Western 'farang'(foreigner) during my stay. The girl on reception was pleasant enough but struggled with English when I had the odd query, such as where to catch a bus to Phitsanlok, not that I am one of those travellers who expects all reception staff to speak perfect English wherever I go. Breakfast choice was very limited, but I got eggs and toast so was happy enough. You need your own wheels to stay at this hotel. Despite it being just off the main street which runs through the centre of town, its at the eastern end and it took me 20-30 minutes to walk back into the centre on the first day. Thereafter, I hired a motorbike for the rest of my stay so no further problem on that score. Despite the drawbacks I quite enjoyed my stay at the hotel, but in the unlikely event of ever being in Mae Sot again, would probably stay at a more central location.

We enjoyed our staying at this resort.The place was great and so was the room. The staff was very helpful with everything we needed. The manager's daughter even held a solo violin concert for us when we were at time to depart. Will highly recomend this place

Pros: Very nice building and grounds, with a large room, good price and location. Cons: the beds are awful. In Thailand hotel beds are usually rock hard, but the mattresses we had we just deformed. I could hardly get out of bed in the morning. We booked for 3 nights, left after 2 ... If you don't mind a bad mattress, then this place is lovely ... though very local style. Breakfast was Burmese/Thai - very good, but may not suit western families. The sole person managing the place could not speak English ... nor much Thai even! We asked for a fried egg - she said she didn't know how to make one. If the mattresses are changed (and they start providing some soap!), then the place will be 100% improved. Worth a look ... if you have a rubber spine.

Good English signage so hotel easy to find. location correct on map. Need a car if staying here. Very nice room and comfortable bed for price. Clean and new. Breakfast limited to rice soup and coffee. WiFi spotty. Everything in Mae sot is under 15 minutes drive away. Good value.

The first difficulty was to find this place. Agoda map shows that it's located at the corner of the two major roads, but actually it is not facing to the main roads neither. Agoda should post the phone number of this hotel on the confirmation page for easier inquiry. And English is not spoken well here. You need to hire motorcycle to go to Mae Sot downtown/market. Good point was this place was rather new and clean and quiet.

Came in from Mae Sot from Myanmar and had to take a shared shuttle bus from the border to the center of Mae Sot for 200 bhat. It was quite far from the border. We asked directions for First Hotel once we got to downtown Mae Sot, but few people knew where it was or were willing to help us. Finally, a gentleman who owned a store kindly drove us there. (I don’t know how we would have found it without him!) Upon arrival, we found a woman at the front desk whose English was relatively good, but she soon left for the evening, and no one was at the front desk who could or would help us from about five o’clock in the afternoon to seven o’clock the next morning. Several people sat around watching television in the lobby, but they seemed disinterested in helping us. (I wasn’t even sure they worked there!) The room itself was mostly fine – although one of the mattresses was uncomfortable and the toilet had a pool of water left over from the previous occupants -- and you really couldn’t use the toilet without getting in the water. If you’re incredibly self-sufficient, and don’t mind feeling as if you’re staying in a ghost hotel, you’ll enjoy the reasonable rate.

We booked two nights and stayed three additional nights. We were in Mae Sot in order to jump over to Myawaddy to renew our visas and we decided NOT to travel during the new years holiday. We kind of just liked the small town vibe here. The first 2 nights at DK we stayed in the 'newer' wing which was nice but we found that the main (I guess older) part was better (and cheaper). The rooms were larger and it had a private balcony which wasn't the case in the newer section. We were there for new years eve and our balcony on the third floor was the best seat in the city. The local market which is just a short walk away is absolutely incredible (the one at the border is crap) and there are great wats nearby - so don't believe the guidebooks that say there is nothing to see in Mae Sot. Just start walking. The DK is a great place and there is plenty of great food very close. I will stay here again if I ever find my way back to Mae Sot.
