Quiet place to stay, super fresh air and surrounded by elephants and ox. A little bit off the main Mae Taeng town, and no free shuttle or transport provided to go to the mae Taeng town area for the interesting market/night market. This can be an improvement for future. As it's off the town, there were limited choices of eating places. Almost everyday we did in-house dining. The only restaurant and the coffee house by the side of the river serve very good local thai food and western food. However, their prices are much higher than the restaurants in Chiangmai city. Limited spread of breakfast, we were bored by the 2nd day. The room is spacious and clean. Very few insects despite the facts that surrounded by forest, river and elephants. The watch tower is a great place to view sunrise. However the extra bed with thin mattress is a little pricey for my 6years old child (1500baht/night before VAT) Overall, a quiet and refreshing stay.

Phusanfah Resort is the best place you can get if you're looking for a peaceful and quiet getaway in the nature of Northern Thailand. Located in the picturesque valley of Mae Taeng near Chiang Mai, the resort is overlooking rice paddies and beautiful farming area. It even has its own small farm house where you can sit down, relax and enjoy the view. The service we got at hotel was beyond expectation, though it was during the busiest of times - during New Year holiday season, the staff was very attentive and polite. What is even more important, the hotel is directly managed by its owners, a very charming family, who live just across the road from the resort and they make sure their guests are attended to and taken care of. During over 7 years in Thailand, we've seen many resorts and this one was beyond our expectations, we'll be back for more.

Was a very nice and peaceful stay, the best part was the room...it really was at a high standard. The food was nice at dinner but the breakfast was s bit of a let down :(

Lisu Lodge is in Mae Tang, the lodges are serviced with hilltribe people Lisu and the accommodation reserves the tribe way. The food is harvested within the farming in Lodge and you will enjoy Breakfast, and Dinner with the hilltribe dancing. Another chapter to experience. Recommended.

1) The resort is beautiful, good location & have only 4 room so calm & peace for enjoy vacation, have a lot of blanket / enough for 5c degree 2) welcome fruit - organic strawberry in hotel- so cute 3) hotel was decorate in modern & romantic view, little waterfall, colorful flower, nature and a lot of bird 4) food, although have not more alternative choice if compare with famous hotel, but in my opinion, every menu is delicious, such as American breakfast, spicy spaghetti, fried rice with shrimp etc, in luxurious dish look like top star hotel- so this show in all attention 5) Have coffee & tea but no cake or desert- next time I hope get it here- will perfect for this 6) But the best I stay here, great service mind and sincere smile from host, no more/not less make we are uncomfortable 7) we have a child, they no charge and take care our kids I love this time for visit and will come back to this resort, if the next time I will go to PAI, I will take time to stay here again and again

We visited the four seasons in Mae Rim which also has rice fields and rice barns and an infinity pool. Baan Rai Lanna is a twentieth of the cost and is set in real rainforest and much more idyllic. The staff were very helpful and the manager speaks excellent English. It is a little hard to find, look out for the sign and keep driving up a dirt track after the road ends, but worth visiting. Perfect for real peace and beautiful nature and surroundings.

- substandard plumbing caused blockage, creaky mattress, pool in need of a good clean, hot tub empty aside from some fallen leaves, if both the owners are absent from the hotel grounds, the Thai staff are unable to provide any assistance or information at all. + well decorated and very clean room, lovely and well maintained gardens, the owners cute pets. Didn't try the hotel food as there was a market and a variety of other tasty food options within a 5/10 minute drive. Mae Taeng is a beautiful area with lots of attractions, I will definitely return but will seek other accommodation.

If you are looking for an escape from the city to a beautiful rural area in a village in the rainforest right on the mae taeng river then this is the place. The location is stunning right on the river wooden lodge style resort. This is one of my favourite areas in chiang mai. Very quiet, rural and surrounded by nature. If you are looking for luxury this is not the place for you. Owning my own 2 guesthouses I cant help but notice what is desperately lacking in what could really improve this place. Pros: Staff were lovely and accommodating Location right on the river is gorgeous Restaurant food was very delicious and huge portions Cons: -The rooms need a decent clean, I understand the location high humidity, dampness is a problem but they could just dust the rooms everyday and it would make a huge improvement. -The curtains!!! Please get new curtains! They do not fit the windows and the rooms sit right on the walk way and people can see right into the huge sliding door windows the curtains offer zero privacy due to them being shrunk from age or just never fitting. We had to use hair ties to tie them so we could have some privacy. - The room we stayed in was right next to the restaurant bathroom and the lights stayed on the whole night with white curtains that dont fit the the windows it was rather annoying especially if your one who likes a dark room to sleep in. (Like me) -Rock hard bed (common in Thailand but for the price of the room you would expect better) I really do think its a lovely place but I dont feel the price is worth the money.

We enjoyed the beautiful garden, landscape, and walking track in this hotel. It has natural surrounding, unfortunately the night we visited there was a night party at the restaurant, so it was not as quiet, peaceful as I wished it be. Oh, also the superior room doesn't provide bath tub as suggested in agoda. That was a bit disappointing! How can we trust agoda when such mistakes often occured (at least 6 times during my last 6 months bookings.)

The room was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant is not functioning and nor the the hot water for the shower. The wifi signal was good but it was not possible to gain access to the net. There was no dedicated receptionist only the caretaker who only speaks Thai which made the check in process take longer. It was okay as a place to sleep overnight when travlling on to other centres.

We loved this property. We only stayed one night but it was great! Each cabin is brand new. There are modern amenities in the room (flat screen TV, Wifi, etc). There was no refrigerator in the room but the staff brought us a cooler with ice in it. Speaking of the staff; they are over the top accommodating. Anything you need, they would listen and take care of it. 5 star treatment! Breakfast was amazing, the views were amazing and the quietness and solitude of the country side was priceless. We really enjoyed this property and were in awe when we checked in. It sits on a decent amount of land. If you are into the outdoors but like your facilities clean and modern, this is the perfect getaway! We contemplated staying 2 or 3 nights but our schedule didn't permit. Highly recommend it and would easily return!

The hotel suits for the backpackers cos the hotel is near the national park and this place is convenice to travel outbound of Chiang Mai (a. Meang Taeng ). Also the staffs at the hotel is very nice and warm welcome.

This resort is located in the northern mountain area, near a national park, where can take hot spring bath. It was a wonderful experiment. Not far from Mae Tang Elepant Park. Staffs are so nice, feel like in home. QUite and relaxing place.

After Bangkok etc we wanted some quiet time and this was the place. Far out of town(Chiang Mai) so we took the bus up to Mae Taeng and the owner pick us up in town for a fee. Food was great traditional Thai food (4 main dishes, 4 day rotation). Walked on property, fields, fruit trees, and woods.

Perfect place if you really want to spend some time in a remote place to chillout and do nothing. The roads that lead to the resort are steep and not easy, the last leg is a muddy off-road track so this is not the place where you should plan your daytrips from. It is stictly for people who want to get away from everything. Apart from the very unstable and slow reception of mobile internet that you can get on your phone there is no other means to connect to the web. Which in this case is a plus because the place is not for the selfie-obsessed facebook crowd as far as I see it. The rooms are comfortable with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The mornings can be quite surreal if clouds descend on the area as one can see on the top of them from the balcony. Hot-ish water in the shower, so you don't have to freeze. A piece of advice: Don't book your room to a Thai holiday because the place has karaoke facilities in the dining area and other guests will use those if they have the mood for it.

This place is beautiful but it is in the middle of nowhere. The good thing is that it's quite private and quiet. However, to transport here is a big problem because it is not easy to find and it isn't located next to the main road. The facility was quite okay, as the kitchen close at 6 pm., and if you haven't prepare some snack, you will get limited option for this place is connect to the rice field. Well, and if you want to go to enjoy the adventure in Mae Rim area, it's so far away and inconvenient to do so. The only people I recommend to book this place are the people who want to relax and stay with the nature. We were glad we booked here only one night because it felt like we were trapped. Anyway, the staff is quite okay and the place is beautiful.

This is a wonderful little place about an hour north of Chiang Mai. The accommodations are quaint but comfortable and clean. The facilities are not going to be totally top-of-the-line in this part of the country, but the staff works very hard to keep everything clean and modern. My sheets were clean every day, each room had a very clean bathroom, the food was great, they have an excellent espresso/smoothie bar, and I got wi-fi signal in my room. The sounds of nature, cicadas, frogs and other animals will lull you to sleep at night, and it's close to many nature attractions like a couple of waterfalls, elephant parks, Mae Ngat Dam, and the mountains are just gorgeous. There's an ATV touring place next door that I would highly recommend, just ask the owner and she'll direct you. The people who work here are also a great resource for things to do in the area, and even drove me around to different places that I needed to be. Talk about amazing customer service. It's a little out of the way to get here if you don't have a car or a scooter or something, but it's easy to take a white taxi for 25 baht from Chiang Mai to Mae Malai market and then arrange pickup with the resort from there. It's worth it to get out of the city and will only take you a little over an hour from Chiang Mai. Everyone that works here is very helpful and friendly, and it feels like you're part of a little family when you stay here. I've never felt more welcome staying at a place than I did when I was here and the surrounding community was full of great people as well. I will absolutely be coming back when I return to Thailand. If you want an escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life, this is the perfect place to relax, enjoy some amazing food, coffee and company while you immerse yourself in the wonderful world of Thailand's north country.

Stayed here as a place to relax before going to another big city. No complaints at all! -the staff was super friendly and helpful -the food was tasty -the bed was comfortable -the WiFi was reliable If you come, bring a car or a motorcycle Would recommend and would stay again

Stayed here for one night, it was posted as entire bungalow but it was wrongly stated because its a multiple room situated on the same piece of land. The lot was located in the middle of no where and next to a forest. Could not sleep the whole night because it was so noisy and it was quite scary..lot of animal, insects and noise of bird at night. No peaceful sleep at all
